Casual place, very clean, and service is friendly. You also don't need reservations even on Saturday night. The fluorescent lights are pretty harsh but it is well lit. Be sure to ask for the off-menu specials like the coconut milk seafood soup. I like the chips but I'm not a big fan of the salsa. Tasted dull and overcooked to me. The coconut seafood soup was a hit with my party although it was a bit fishy for my taste. The garlic shrimp was quite good and the Viagra cocktail was very good and fresh tasting but the tomato dressing was too sweet for us. Overall this is a solid restaurant. Great flavor and big chunks of meat. We shared snd were full. The small queso and guacamole aren't tiny. We had more than enough for two. Loved the thin, homemade flour tortillas! Guacamole was freshly made. Chips were toasted and the salsa verde was awesome but too spicy for me. We had tea and water but saw some huge micheladas being served on our way out. Great hole in the wall place! I'm pretty sure they have the BEST salsa around. Very impressed! The green sauce and queso were also delicious but the salsa will rock your socks off. I tried a few different things getting the combo plate; tacos, enchilada, rice beans. Everything was tasty. The margs were excellent, especially for $3 at happy hour! Our server Jake was also a top tier item to mention. He was so helpful, so friendly, and perfectly attentive. My only gripe would be the lighting which is silly but hey, could be better! I've only been there once and I was getting breakfast tacos to go. The tortillas are fresh and homemade. Potato, egg and cheese was spot-on. They use the orange cheese, not white. 2 salsa options are both very tasty. The green has some kick, the red is mild. Prices are reasonable and the patrone at the cash register is muy simpatico and muy divertido. I'll be back to try a sit-down meal soon. read more

First timer- the place was empty but very clean and we were greeted immediately by a very nice young lady. We ordered tortas and a gordita to go; chips and also were included. We ordered from Door Dash 2 times recently over the summer, and we have loved everything we have tried. Everything is packed with care, like the extra sauces and guacamole, etc. The food arrives hot even delivered. They use high quality ingredients - the meats & cheeses, and even the pico de gallo is superb. We kept raving about how everything tasted delicious. I thought their mixed (half chicken and half beef) quesadillas were my favorite until I tried the beef fajita chimichanga. Have not had one in years, but something made me want to try it -- and it was just so fresh and not greasy at all -- plus stuffed full of goodness. Their queso - you choose what you want in top of chimichanga - was a great touch and they sent both red and green salsa too. We also thought the sides of rice and beans were amazing too. Wow is this food delicious! If you're on the island, stop by for some insanely flavorful and authentic Mexican food. Can't go wrong with shredded chicken tacos or any of the many variety of enchiladas. The chipotle fajitas are highly recommended as well! The chips, salsa and queso were great! Salsa was too spicy for my kids but they devoured the queso (and provided entertainment for others in the restaurant haha). Margaritas are wine based, but decent. Next time I'll order a $2 beer for happy hour. Margs are $3 - so cheap! Don't judge a book by it's cover. Go inside, ignore the sketchy shopping center exterior. The food is worth it! They must have changed owners / under new management recently. This used to be one of my favorite restaurants in Galveston for Mexican food, but today it was awful, and it wasn't just a bad day. It's very obvious their food has changed. The queso tasted like plastic and must have come out of a can. It was as yellow as this one star review and looked like jello. Their beans, which used to be delicious, were flavorless - like most of their food. Even the sprite and diet coke tasted watered down. They are either significantly cutting costs by lowering the quality of the ingredients or management / owner changed. Usually I'd give somewhere I second chance after having a bad experience, but this was just awful. read more

Oh my goodness! This restaurant was sooooo good! My go to at most Mexican restaurants is the flameado. It's one of my favorite meals. This was the best one I've ever had! I got the chicken and my son got the steak and both were amazing! Service was top tier! Our waitress was so nice and helpful. Our drinks were never empty. The restaurant was clean and bright! I had dinner here last week for the first time. Yelp had the location on the other side of the street. The restaurant is actually on the north side of Broadway (Gulf side). They have their own parking lot in front and inside it's just one dining room. I was going to get the fajitas but they weren't serving any onions due to the recent nationwide salmonella scare so instead I ordered the shrimp kisses entree for $16. First to arrive were the chips and salsa. The salsa was kind of thick and taste wise it wasn't my favorite. I ate just a few chips and then stopped. A few minutes later the entree arrived. The kisses are grilled shrimp that are wrapped in bacon and stuffed with jalapeños and cheese. Along with it came rice, charro beans and pico with corn tortillas. No guac due to no onions being available. Again taste wise the shrimps were just ok. The shrimps were large enough and the bacon flavor was there but I still really didn't care for them. I did miss not having the guac too. My table service was good. This is a family owned and run business and I realize that Yelp scores are much higher but I can only give a 3 overall. I wouldn't mind returning but would try something else. Another negative for me was the salsa. Just not my style. read more

On the way out of Galveston I really wanted some breakfast tacos but wasn't sure where to go. It was getting close to noon so I knew options might be limited. I came across this place on maps and decided to give it a try. When we first sat down the waitress handed us the menu and took our drink order. I was sad to see there was no breakfast on the menu but I wasn't going to give up. I asked if it was still possible to order breakfast and when she said yes and came back with the breakfast menu my tummy was excited. I ordered the breakfast burrito with eggs, cheese, beans and bacon. I am a lemon freak so of course I needed a side of them and they did not disappoint! Stopped in this little place on the way into Galveston. Oh my, what a gem. The staff is all very warm and friendly, has a total family owned authentic feel. The server/ may be the owner stopped several times to chit chat with my toddler. He did magic tricks and animal sounds. It was so nice. It's so nice to have a different option other than just fast food when we come down. Hubby ordered the supreme burrito..wet... he def recommends. While I got the chicken flautas. The flavor was authentic and delicious, the flautas had the perfect crunchhhh and the beans and rice it be side were good too. There was queso fresco, avacado, lettuce and salsa (non spicy) on top which made the taste even better. was a lot of food and the prices were unbelievably low. We saw this restaurant on Yelp, reviewed the menu and decided to have dinner there last night. We were the only customers in the place when we walked in just before 6:30 and we weren't sure if it was because it was early or if the food was questionable. I saw a sign that said happy hour was until 7pm and I also saw that they have been in business since 1975 so that told us they must be doing something right. Husband ordered the beef fajitas and I wanted something different than enchiladas. I ordered the Filet Cancun which was tilapia with shrimp. My husband's fajitas came out first then a couple minutes later out came my huge platter of fish, rice and boracho beans. OMG it was scrumptious but it was unfortunate that I filled up on the chips and queso. I ate as much as I could and took the rest back to hotel. Highly recommend this (what I lovingly call) a "hole in the wall" place. So good and attentive, friendly service. read more
