From the moment I started taking classes here, I felt welcomed and challenged in the best way. The director, Maximo Califano, is a patient and inspiring teacher who encourages dancers of all levels to reach their potential. His commitment to his adult students is rare--he takes us seriously, pushes us thoughtfully, and has helped me grow more than I thought possible. At the same time, he has a wonderful way with children, blending strong technique with artistry in an environment that's both disciplined and nurturing. Max is firm, but always kind, and brings humor and heart to every class. It's no surprise that dancers come from near and far to train with him. Ballet San Jose School also offers performing opportunities for dancers of all ages. I've had the joy of performing in both The Nutcracker and spring productions--each experience has been incredibly fulfilling. The new studio in Little Saigon is spacious, bright, and beautifully equipped with new floors, barres, and mirrors. It's also conveniently located near lots of great spots to grab a bite after class or rehearsal. Whether you or your child is just starting ballet or returning after time away, I wholeheartedly recommend Ballet San Jose School.

The level of professionalism and care that goes into each performance is remarkable. The instructor is not only an incredibly skilled teacher, but also a deeply respected figure in the ballet world. His dedication to his students is evident in everything he does -- from the quality of instruction to the thoughtful choreography and personal attention he gives to every dancer. This is a wonderful program for dancers of all ages and levels, from absolute beginners to those with prior experience. Whether you're looking to build a solid foundation or refine your technique, you'll find a supportive, inspiring, and truly professional environment at Ballet San Jose School. Highly recommend to anyone looking to deepen their love for ballet in a warm and well-run studio!

I WISH I COULD GIVE 100 STARS to WVDC & Miss Basma…read more Miss Basma is truly one of a kind! My daughter has been dancing with her for the past two years, and I can't express enough how much of a positive impact she's had. After an awful experience with a previous coach, my daughter had completely lost her love for dance. I promised her that if we tried one more time at a new studio, things would be different -- and WVDC, along with Miss B, have far exceeded that promise. Miss Basma's patience, enthusiasm, and genuine care have completely reignited my daughter's passion. She's thriving again -- excited for every class, dedicated, and full of joy. Miss B always takes the time to connect with her students and parents, and she's consistently cheerful and encouraging. I honestly don't think I've ever seen her without a big, genuine smile! She will never fully know the impact she's had on my daughter -- and I'm certain she's made the same difference for so many other little dancers. We are so grateful for her kindness, energy, and belief in her students. Miss B is an absolute gem -- thank you for bringing back the love of dance we thought was lost forever!

I cannot recommend this dance studio for parents looking to lift up young girls…read more My daughter was interested in Kpop dancing, and is in an awkward bubble age of being too old (~10) for the "mini" class and at the cusp of too young for the"Junior" pre-teen class. She definitely isn't a great dancer, but she practices and tries her hardest. This is just a fun class for girls, not elite or comp. Things started off well but then she started leaving with tears in her eyes. She says that the teacher was leaving her out of the routine and so she was sitting around most of the time, not understanding why. No explanation. I urgently asked for a callback to understand the situation. No callback. I asked the teacher, Mr Garret, next week in person. He says she wasn't getting it but he would include her more. I asked him to speak to her about her so she could feel supported and understand and how she can improve. He says he didn't have time to talk to her and said he would next week. He never did. Not excusable. My daughter continued to come back with tears in her eyes. She says that 2 other girls were giggling and laughing when she made a mistake. She didn't want to make a fuss or quit before the performance. The performance came, and she fell behind in the rehearsal. She told me a few days later that everyone laughed at her. She just did box breathing to focus and did great in the performance. It was a proud moment for our family. *I then receive an email saying that she needs to go to the class where she is overaged OR just take the SAME class but on a different day to free up space for a better dance*. Reason: she wasn't dancing well enough; wasn't fitting in socially; the class was "full" and she's kicked out. Wait, she's still being invited to the same skill but on a different day despite being a bad dancer? I was shocked and disappointed. Instead of optimizing for the culture of the class, they instead optimize against the student for not fitting in. She's not a great dancer, but she's young, tried hard, and was trying to fit in even with tears in her eyes every day. We have dropped Purdance with no hesitation and she now uses her experience as her way of being able to hold her breath to perform amidst an unsupportive environment.

My daughter danced here for 2 years. I was very disappointed with these 2 women. My child was viewed purely as a monthly charge.

They go above and beyond to ensure that every dancer feels confident and valued. The sense of community here is truly special--parents, students, and staff all work together to create a positive and uplifting atmosphere. The moms were incredible. My wife got so much out of her experience as well. She built a group of close friends especially with so many to name. You all know who you are who become life long friends with my wife. My daughter has grown so much in her time with NorCal Studios not just in her technical skills, but in her confidence, discipline, and love for dance. I highly recommend this dance company to any parent looking for a place where their child can flourish and be part of a wonderful dance family. Yes it's demanding & tough but if you want the best, you've found the best place! Thank you, Tawnya for being such an important part of my daughter's life!

From the moment I reached out (short notice) and got a response from DNA, it was a glimpse of their positive energy! They are a family full of passion and talent! We went to the intro class with Anastasiya. She is personable, able to understand backgrounds (dance and personalities) then choreograph a tailored routine. We had 5 classes within 2-3 weeks and looked forward to going to the classes. Danya was our instructor for the last class, and they are both great! The whole experience transformed into being a fun date night outing, to making the dance the night of our wedding, to bringing out moves anytime the song comes up for a lifetime ahead :) It was one of the most memorable experiences for us and so glad we found DNA. Hope to be back soon! Everytime we arrived at the studio, everyone looked like they were having so much fun. From kids, women's classes, to couples, everyone would be in great hands at DNA!

Their staff is professional and laid back, and you can tell that they love what they do, and that they're passionate about what they teach. Drop in rate for their classes that run Monday-Thursday is only $10 for all levels. And they hold open sessions for all ages about 3 days a week for $3. NOT BAD AT ALL!
