Zero protection and access restriction. People living in their cars are allowed to overnight in the lot. Between the police, on-site security (total joke) and paid monitoring service (also a joke) nothing ever changes. There have been boats stolen, boats broken into, homeless encampments under the shipway launch ramp. Something needs to change other than the rent which keeps going up.

This was the first year we went with Golden Eye and we will definitely be calling them again next year. The Golden Eye 2000 is a beautiful vessel with a lot of room. Being a catamaran, it glides through the waves like a mermaid and you don't get a lot of the rocking motion like with regular boats. Not that I get sea sick or anything, but some of the weenies in my company do. Quang had a few choice spots he took us to that proved very good fishing. Ling cods and several species of rock cods galore were FLYING out of the water. Frank was running all over the boat helping folks bring in their little lovelies.

We drove through the thick fog in September. Even though we arrived early, it was so foggy off the…read morepier and there were already people fishing/crabbing. We still were able to get a spot big enough with four crab nets. Only downfall, there were too many seagulls so we had to be careful and protect our bait. We threw our crab nets down the pier and waited. There was one incident with one seal that took our bait from one of the crab nets. I would advise to put the bait in a small cage. After 30 minutes, we caught a whole bunch of rock and dungeness crabs. Since it was not dungeness crab season, we toss them back in the ocean. If you are a pro or a beginner in crabbing, Moore Road Pier is a great spot! It was a fun experience and I can't wait til dungeness crab season begin.

Now you don't need a fishing license if your fishing or crabbing off the pier. As soon as you step off the pier then you'll need a license. You just need to check the limits : how many and which fish/crabs are allowed to be taken. We live less than an hour from this pier so we are blessed to come here as often as we would like. Tourists from all over the world stopped to see what we were trying to catch and what we actually caught. Many of them did not understand what we were saying but we smiled at each other and I'm sure they will always remember how people crabbed and fished off this pier. You'll also see seals here. One naughty seal kept stealing all of our crab bait. We were glad the seal came around when we were about to leave anyways.
