Not condescending or chatty as his focus was on the rods with 10 people on the boat. Captain was also fishing but not for himself, handed over the rod to a guest who hasn't landed a fish. Appreciate the attempt at a less crowded spot, didn't work out and went back to where the party boats were. I believe we would have gotten our boats limit, but there were a few kids enjoying the experience and were not paying too much attention to their poles, but that's OK. Few missed opportunities, but that's fishing. I know numbers can impact the reputation of the boat without really knowing the context. I will look exclusively to make a trip with Diamond or Lady K. Other boats that I have been on had arrogant deck hands and not so friendly captains.

We…read moregathered at the dock super early and although we thought it was early, Captain Kyle was up and at'm ready to fish! He said we were in for an adventure. The great thing about DSF is that they provide all the gear necessary for your catch. We were going out for Tuna as Bluefin are now found in the waters off the west coast, we were all pretty excited to go fishing. All we brought with us was food and drinks, having everything else included was a bonus. In the event we caught anything, they'll cut, clean, gill and give us fillets. The boat ride was awesome, no one got seasick thank goodness, there's ample seating inside and out. It was super foggy in the early morning, but cleared up by the time we started. I've not been on a fishing boat prior to this trip, and I was blown away at how scenic and beautiful the water was out there. The bright sunshine gave the water a super bright blue appearance, it was cool. Captain Kyle and his deckhand got everyone rigged up and ready to fish. The Captain is youthful and took his time answering questions and giving advice. His mixture of humor and knowledge of where the fish were was certainly a bonus because as soon as lines were in the water we heard, " Fish On!" That first Tuna took everyone on board including my son Parker to reel it in ( Posted Picture). What a freaking rush. It was exciting watching as everyone reeled something in on the boat. We laughed, joked and had such a fun day out on the water with friends. On our way back in to harbor the Captain pointed out several whale pods swimming around the boat, it was a trip seeing them jump. We enjoyed our lunch and talked about who caught the biggest tuna. In all honesty, that first one was the biggest in my book. I can't say enough great things about Captain Kyle and his Diamond Sport Fishing. Reservations were easy as charters go out practically daily either 1/2 or full days. The waters off of California are changing, getting warmer, they're seeing Bluefin Tuna and Marlin so who knows, maybe our next trip we'll catch something epic! Overall Impression: A+

Deckhand Grant was great and stayed busy, and was everything you could ask for from a deck hand. He was the only deckhand our day because we had a small load of 10 poles the day I went. Captain Joey had a great attitude and was nice to be around (some captains can be grumpy in my experience). The boathouse is plenty comfortable with a microwave and sink, but you're going out fishing. you're not going to be pampered at a spa. I will be happy to book with them again in the future. There are several benches set up along the border of the lake for visitors to relax and admire the views. A rough trail on the far side of the lake made for a somewhat challenging hike, climbing over giant rocks and weaving through trees and debris. It wasn't too bad though. The sandy beach area of the park is fenced off and only open seasonally, with a small fee to enter ($5 for adults, $3 for kids and the disabled, free for babies). But the beach cafe can be accessed from outside the gates and offers various menu items like coffee, tea, hot cocoa, smoothies, lemonade, pretzels, hot dogs, nachos, popcorn, and ice cream. Lake Anza is free to visit, and offers free parking in a sizable lot. Restrooms are seemingly well kept too. I enjoyed my time here this past weekend.

But there are lots of turtles and birds to watch. For picnics, there are tables and a large grassy expanse for laying down a spread and also playing frisbee. For a hike, the loop around the lake (pond?) is perfect for kids and adults who are able to climb rocks and scramble comfortably along a few narrow strips of the trail. There is a bridge and an area where kids like to explore the creek. There are other paths off the lake, but those do tend to have more mountain bikes. This is an especially nice park when we have our late summer weather in September and October. Plenty of parking.

This past trip was for Salmon and it started out rough, I forgot our boots, it started out choppy so my mom stayed inside ( we did not want to risk a fall for her). The captain got us into calmer water and into some schools of Salmon. Chef Mark was my biggest hype man, John helped me get rigged up( Salmon set up is heavy!!! But they will help you)! Now once I had a fish on Mason had to hold the rod so I could reel!!!! Ive never need help getting fish to the boat but boy these fish were heavy and fighting. Im just talking now because I had such a good time. Sore but happy. Remember like all fishing its fishing not catching. We've been missing our Seattle hikes like crazy this year so the last few weeks we've been trying…read moreout the reservoir trails near Orinda. Enter in San Pablo Reservoir. It's a beautiful trail. It's shaded and generally well traveled. We didn't realize until we got to the Orinda Connector Staging Area location that it was permit only, however it was simple to find the permit online and easily purchase a $3 day pass while standing in front of the sign, which is located at 520 San Pablo Dam Road, and the sign-in sheet is down and around the corner from the gate. If you start at the same staging area, the first 5 minutes of the hike is a rocky trip down, but in my opinion is a much easier hike back up, which I didn't expect, and is generally otherwise low impact (although dusty). Our visit really convinced us to try out other trails in the area and we were surprised at how much we enjoyed the area and the view.

This employee is a male who drives white Mitsubishi, was literally yelling at families with little kids and pregnant women. More than 10 cars started to pile up right in front of the exit gate and he came driving very recklessly towards the exit gate and also inside park and parking lot. This guy needs to control his emotions and need an anger management class.
