Gliding across the water in Captain Brian's Selkie for two hours is an amazing experience. The electric motor is almost silent; it does not frighten the wildlife. The boat is low so it seems like you are at eye level with otters, birds, and seals. Besides the quite electric motor what sets this tour apart from others is the boat only holds the Captain and six people, there is room to move and see the wildlife. The information that was provided as we glided around the slough was helpful and made the trip more than just a photo trip. When we got off the boat he told us where we could go to see even more wildlife. There is also a yelp check-in. Advanced reservations are required and are made online. When I booked the trip I mentioned that my friends and I wanted do to some photography. When we got there we were asked what we wanted to photograph, my first thought was otters. I enjoyed the tour so much I am going to go again and see, and photograph, more otters, birds, and seals.

We had such a relaxing and fun tour seeing the otters and seals. Joonya was a great captain and knowledgeable about the area. I would highly recommend this cruise.

LOVED IT!!! Take this tour. We learned a lot about the area including animals and plants. Capt. Brian was fantastic. He pointed out many things to us that we would of never of seen without him. It was a relaxed atmosphere. Something that makes this tour the best is we were totally sheltered from the wind on the way back. We had the window flaps up on the way out and put the flaps down on the way in. We saw the other tour boat on the way out and they looked frozen. I would take this tour again.

Thank you Captain Seann! You made our engagement so unique and special my fiance Michelle could not have had a better day. The boat was amazing and it was so magical to see all the wildlife and your knowledge and humor was calming for me before I asked the big question. We will be back!!! And thank you everyone at Whisper Charters for helping me arrange it.

If you don't want to paddle you own kayak, this is the best way to see the Elkorn slough! Quiet ( electric) and comfortable. The captain is very nice and knowledgeable. We ordered a cheese and fruit plate and brought our own wine. Nice!

I went a few months ago with John for the first time and it was lovely. We saw so many sea otters! I decided to bring my brother on Tuesday. I figured it would be pretty similar from the first tour. Was I wrong! We had the most amazing tour! First, we happened to see humpback whales from the boat. Just so you know, that doesn't normally happen. We were very lucky and a special moment for us. In addition to that, there were so many pelicans flying around and diving into the water to catch fish! It was incredible. We will come back again especially knowing that you never know what you will see on a tour. Just fantastic!

Because of their location in Moss Landing, we saw several whales within minutes of leaving the harbor. In addition, we saw otters, sea lions, and dolphins. Both the captain and guide were professional and checked on us during the excursion. Also very knowledgeable and shared lots of great info. The boat is not as big as some of the tours we saw, which was nice because we all got a great view without being on top of each other. Highly recommend for all those reasons. The big plus is location. Don't have to deal with traffic getting in/out of Monterrey.

Capt Kate doesn't book the boat full this way everyone has a great view 3. The boat itself is more suitable for an optimal viewing experience 4. Most other whale watching companies go out of the Fisherman's Wharf which means you have to spend 30-40 minutes traveling just to spend 35 minutes with the whales and then spend another 40 minutes it's traveling back. Bottom line you get more bang for your buck with Blue Ocean and it is truly a whale watching EXPERIENCE rather than a boat ride.

The small group of us couldn't have asked for a better weather day, and the well-appointed "Meridian" was a treat to cruise through Monterey Bay. I loved sitting on the bow of the boat giving over the cruising swells...after being cooped up all winter, it was a much-welcome reprieve. Spacious and comfortable, the boat comfortably fit crew and passengers safely, keeping COVID protocols in mind. The crew was helpful and friendly, and open to any and all questions relating to the bay and the local area. The crew's Naturalist offered their expertise knowledge of the environment and the diverse marine life that calls the bay home. I had no idea about the massive and deep canyon that carves through the floor of the bay, and what keeps the wildlife so varied. While it may have been a little on the early side of the year for a photogenic whale show, we did meet up with the bay's Rissos Dolphin pod who encircled the boat and provided some great opportunities for pictures with a telephoto lens. Perfect for smaller groups to comfortably enjoy the natural bounty of the bay, Secret Harbor Charters is yacht-life done right. I say small but the boat is 50 feet long, and very kushy, good for groups of friends. An impersonal touring ship it is not. I hear they're planning on officiating weddings at sea too! Erica, the onboard naturalist, was extremely knowledgeable and friendly guide on our charter. Having traveled all the way from New Orleans, Louisiana in the hopes of seeing a whale in real life, we were fortunate enough to actually spot two humpback whales swimming side by side! Five stars to this business and we hope to return to the bay very soon for another trip!
