    Burrito

Los Cactus blew me away, by price this has to be the best food you can get in the Twin Cities. Los Cactus is a locally run fast casual Mexican restaurant serving up all sorts of Mexican fare including burritos, tacos, quesadillas, and then some more American favorites like taco salad and rice bowls. They also have a huge array of aguas frescas like horchata and tamarindo. Their menu is so well priced, basically everything is 10 bucks or under and includes any toppings you want. I went for an al pastor burrito with yellow rice, beans, guacamole, lettuce, pico, salsa, corn, cheese and it cost me 8.60 + tip. The food was ready instantly, and the staff were so fast and efficient. For how small of a restaurant, they have so many staff working. They offer both drive thru and fast food type seating. The burrito was both massive and delicious and easily the best sub $10 meal I've had for many years. Can't wait to go back!

First timer! Remember when they opened and I was intrigued on coming to check it out. Finally had the chance to check it out. The color scheme is very bold and bright. Surprisingly I like the bright yellow and green inside. Clean restaurant inside. They do have a drive through but when I went it was closed. The style of the restaurant is that similar to a chipotle, pancheros, Baja sol type where you order and choose your toppings. Friendly workers. Cheap food and the tacos were really good for the price

This has become my new addiction. It was bold of them to set up shop right across from a Taco Bell and a short drive away from a Chipotle, but I would choose Los Cactus 9 times out of 10. Every time we order, we get the chips with queso and of course the elote! Their burritos are a star of the show, but I also enjoyed their enchiladas, they just didn't stand out as much. I can't fully give the tacos a rating yet because they forgot to send salsa (service). However, even without the salsa, the taco meat wasn't unpleasantly dry. It actually had some moisture to it, a good texture, and a good flavor! Overall, I would recommend giving this place a try. I always order it through DoorDash, but when I've driven by, it looks like they have a drive-through as well. It's a very bold yellow building off of Central (where many great restaurants reside). You can't miss it!

Great fast casual spot with fantastic meat options and a fun menu. Definitely recommend for a quick easy and very affordable dinner. Support a local business instead of going to a Chipotle y'all

4 stars! You can get a BIG meal under $10 here, and that is rare these days! It's a Chipotle-esk restaurant where you walk through and customize your tacos, bowls, burritos, etc. They have esquites and elotes which I love! GREAT selections of aqua frescas too. Oh and a self serve salsa bar (bonus!!) The inside dining and line are a little chaotic, so I recommend taking to go or hitting the drive thru. If you're in the area definitely worth checking out.

Just got back from California where I hit up a bunch of hyped Hispanic food joints, but honestly? This place still takes the crown. The flavor, the freshness, and the way everything is seasoned next level. You can taste the love in every bite. On top of that, the service was super friendly and fast. It's rare to find a spot where both the food and the experience hit like this. Easily one of my all time favorites. Don't sleep on it!

Nachos (chips and nacho toppings separate) - toppings tipped over when I was driving so it got a little shaken up.

I have been looking forward to trying Los Cactus since they opened up recently near my home. On our local community page, people were raving about it! Many people saying it's better than Chipotle! I went to get take out around 4 on a Sunday. Parking lot was nearly full but I quickly found a spot. It was busy inside but I got helped right away! I was surprised at how many staff were working, so many! Staff were kind and quick - I was in and out in minutes. I really appreciated them keeping my chips separate so they didn't get soggy on my drive home. Our total of $18 and some change was great for two full meals. I also appreciated the free cold toppings and sides you can take little containers of. My drive home was less than 5 minutes and my husband and I dug in right away! My husband's first words were "this is better than chipotle". After a few bites, we both looked at each other and agreed that it was literally room temp. Not warm, room temperature! Less than 10 minutes of it being prepped keep in mind. That is the reason for 4 stars instead of 5. It really brought down the quality and my husband ended up taking back his statement of it being better than Chipotle. The food itself was tasty and we appreciated the many options of meat and toppings. You can really customize things easily here! The chips were fresh tasting and yummy! The portion sizes were good as well. The building itself was nice, clean, and I really liked the cactus theme throughout. I also noticed they have a drive through that I believe is open for late night which is nice. We plan to try again but eat there and during a less busy time! I would recommend checking it out.

I really like this place. It's basically like a chipotle but a wider selection. I usually just get a bowl and it's been good every time. Also they have a kids menu as well which makes it nice when you have little ones. The prices are very good. The customer service is nice except sometimes there is a little bit of a language barrier but you can just point to what you want. The establishment is clean as well. I would definitely go back

New Restaurant - Aug 2024 Los Cactus is a semi-fast food type of set-up, where you order at the counter (think similar to Chipotle's style). There is a salsa/condiments "fixings" bar that you can get fresh lime, cilantro, pickled red onions, corn mix, sliced cucumbers, etc. Seat yourself after you get your food at the counter. I ordered Al Pastor Bowl. (Not pictured) It was flavorful pork, but a a bit more on fatty side than I prefer. I added pico de gallo, cheese, cilantro, onion. You get to pick 2 sides-I chose rice and grilled green peppers and onions for my bowl. I added their hot red salsa which was garlicky and spicy. Beef Taco Birriria with Consume (like aus jus, for dipping): An order comes with 3 Fried barbocoa beef tacos with cheese. Dip the crunchy tacos in the consume soup sauce. You'll be amazed on how good this tastes! The second and third time I went (yep, it's that good), I got a chicken (pollo) huarache. It's a large big slab of corn-based flatbread with the chicken, iceberg lettuce and cheese on top. (Think like a flatbread with toppings). It was DELICIOUS! When you order, they will ask for your choice of red or green salsa (or both) to cook your chicken. I went with red salsa-it was so good! I would say it has a mild heat. I added more toppings to my huarache: picked red onions, corn, & more red spicy salsa from their condiments bar. Get their mango or cantaloupe drink. You won't regret it! (Pictured: Cantaloupe drink) Free parking lot available, but it gets busy, so arrive early. Price: ~$21 for 2 Entrees Service: Lots of staff, friendly, and fast. Overall: 9.4/10

Love the murals on the walls celebrating the Minnesotan culture and icons. The service is always great, and the servers always have a good menu recommendation if you're unsure what to get. The bar has delicious drinks and their Jamaica juice is so refreshing on a hot summer day. Happy hour is a nice discount on some favorite items. I will say anything with shredded chicken isn't my favorite (not enough seasoning on the chicken for my taste) but everything else we've tried is a hit! We always start off with the chips and salsa flight and add cheese sauce - it's NOT a queso, there's no peppers or spice. The creamy green sauce is our favorite salsa they make, it's delicious on everything. The torta is a great choice if you're unsure what to get, the pineapple bowl is awesome if you're trying to share with others. Tacos and burritos are always a hit - I love the crunch of the pork belly and the flavor of the al pastor, taco toppings are onion and cilantro unless you get the loaded taco with slaw. The burrito could probably feed two people with an appetizer. It's a little higher priced than your typical plate of tacos but the quality of the food is always top notch, the kitchen is open and clean, and I've never left hungry or without leftovers. I will note - if you're looking for "traditional" Mexican food this probably isn't the spot you're looking for. It's still delicious just slightly different than what you'd get at your typical taqueria.

As soon as we entered, we were greeted by the warm and inviting ambiance that's common in many Midwest restaurants, with rustic charm and a welcoming vibe. We were promptly checked in and seated at a cozy table that gave us a perfect view of the bustling restaurant. Our server, Monica, immediately made an impression with her friendly demeanor and genuine enthusiasm for the menu. With so many tempting options, we took a little time to peruse, and she patiently guided us through the extensive selections, recommending some of her personal favorites. We decided to kick things off with a couple of refreshing drinks; I chose the rich and robust Negra Modelo while my girlfriend opted for the smooth and crisp Victoria. Both drinks perfectly set the tone for a fantastic evening ahead. As for the food, it surpassed our expectations. I ordered the carne asada, and let me tell you, it was absolutely divine--a medley of flavors that danced on my palate! The steak was perfectly grilled, tender, and well-seasoned, served with a side that complemented it beautifully. My girlfriend chose the chimichangas, which were nothing short of a culinary masterpiece. Crisp on the outside and bursting with savory goodness on the inside, she was more than pleased with her choice. The portion sizes were nothing short of gigantic, and the generous helpings made it clear that this place doesn't hold back when it comes to satisfying their guests. We quickly filled our plates and savored every last bite, knowing we might have to roll ourselves out of there by the end of our meal! Throughout our time there, Monica continued to shine. She was remarkably attentive, ensuring that our drinks were refilled promptly and checking in to make sure we were enjoying everything. Her warm service added a personal touch that made our experience even more enjoyable. One of the great bonuses is the ample parking available in front of the restaurant, which is always a plus. Additionally, there's a shopping center next door where you can pick up groceries at Aldi or grab some liquor at Merwin's. It's the perfect spot to round off the evening or stock up on essentials. Overall, our visit was a delightful experience filled with delicious food, refreshing drinks, and outstanding service. This place has certainly earned a spot on our go-to list for future outings!
