We went to college in Ellensburg and unfortunately didn't discover Los Cabos until after we graduated. The ambience is authentic, the service is fast, and the food consistently hits the spot. Plus I love that they have a cheese enchilada on the menu. We eat here every time we're in Ellensburg, at least a few times a year, and always leave satisfied. I ordered a Chile Relleno that comes with rice and beans or fries.... It was rubbery I read the reviews after sitting down to the table and I agree 100% the cashier is GRUMPY and should be in the back of the restaurant. He is obviously not a people person or a customer service person and should not be the person to greet customers. First off, service was great, the young woman who helped us was wonderful and checked on us often. With that being said, this is your typical mexican food, you would get the exact same thing at azteca, or el sarape. I ordered the picadillo taco salad & churros at Los Cabos. The picadillo taco salad consists of shredded beef topped w/ lettuce, tomatoes, & shredded cheddar cheese. It's what you can expect from the name but it was pretty good. The churros was topped w/ whipped cream & strawberries. It was decent but I had better at other restaurants. Late breakfast/early lunch after harrowing drive through Snoqualmie Pass . The roads were bad but at least the pass was open. This place was right off the exit and I was ready to get out of the vehicle (my wife had to pry my imbedded fingers out of the steering wheel). The house made salsa and fresh tortilla chips were very good. The Huevos Rancheros was a solid meal that we enjoyed very much. The house made refried beans were a great addition to the plate. Went there for lunch. Nice space reminds me of Mexican restaurants in El Paso, TX. Didn't try the chips and salsa so cannot comment on it. Very extensive menu. I tried the pollo en mole. I know mole is different everywhere but this one was just ok. It was more on the sweeter side but definitely had an after bite. I don't think I'd try the dish again. The tortillas were ok- not homemade. Something I'd expect from a restaurant with a decor like this one. The waiter dropped our check and even when I tried to get his attention twice after he just walked on by. Overall not a good experience. Sat in the bar. It had one small tv and was not inviting. Took awhile to get service. When we did the chips and salsa were okay not great. The food was bland and they obviously used poor quality ingredients. Could have been microwaved. You also only get one free refill on sodas. I just happen to be thirsty that day. I've been eating Mexican food since I was a baby, one of the benefits of having a mother that grew up in Mexico. I also grew up south of the border. I will be honest with this review. Worst Mexican food in the planet. If you are looking for processed nursing home quality Mexican food this is it. Worst food on the road - stop by for a quick bite and the place was not busy. We ordered four plates and every plate was made wrong with no flavor or taste and the food quality was horrible. I've been to some questionable places, but this one really tops it all. The service was friendly, but it seems like the male owner was not happy to see customer in his restaurant. If you think this food is authentic you may want to get out more often. We just stopped in for lunch on Mother's Day. Service was OK but could have been quicker. Waited about 35 minutes for food. Food was pricey for quantity and quality. I ordered cheese enchiladas they were good, the enchilada sauce was super good. Rice and beans were normal. My boyfriend order an $18 steak and chicken fajita platter, unfortunately it was all onions and peppers. There was only a couple bites of meat. The flour tortillas were warm and good. We had to ask for refills (multiple times), had to ask for chips and salsa, and flag them down again for more tortillas. We did not get one pass by to see how things were or if we needed anything. Also, we had a little girl with us and had an unavoidable spill which we had zero help in cleaning up or replacing the water or napkins. I got up and grabbed them off of a server station. The restaurant it's self was clean and actually really cool looking. Silver wear and glasses were clean. Bathrooms were small and cramped and had trash and rolls of toilet paper on the floor. Great location right off the freeway. Parking was easy. All in all it was okay, not great not terrible. Will I be back? Food is well prepared, with good flavor and presentation. The Camarones a la diabla had more a sweetness than spiciness which created a unique taste. Contained mushrooms which was the 1st time I had seen that. Tremendous rice and beans-perfect with added diabla sauce. Corn tortillas are very good and avocado adds nice touch. Ellensburg is definitely not the hottest travel destination but while here to visit some people at the university near by, we stopped by this place for a quick bite to eat. First off the location is so perfect because it right off of the freeway. It was also very easy to find when we were driving from the Central Washington University campus to the restaurant. They also have ample parking for the nights that they are busy and it is very close to other fast food places and local convenient stores if needed. As for the food, while deciding what to order we were given chips and salsa. I found the salsa to be a good combination of spicy but not spicy enough to burn the taste buds off your tongue. The chips were fine too and not stale. I decided to order the chicken fajitas and split them with a friend. The chicken was great as it was not too dry or under cooked in anyway. It was accompanied with green bell peppers and onions which were seasoned well. And it of course came with the standard rice, beans, gauc, sour cream, and tortillas. After finishing our meal, we still had enough to take home! Overall the service was great and very quick! Our waitress answered all of our questions and engaged in conversation as we were visiting the small town. I would recommend this if you're looking for a good bite to eat while in town! read more

I was in Ellensburg about a week ago on a business trip (not the most exciting place for business lol) and the hotel I was staying at did not have a restaurant. So, I ventured out on foot in search of a Mexican restaurant (Fiesta something) I had passed while driving earlier in the day. I saw it across the street to my left, but then I saw Los Cabos on my right. Hmmmm...what to do. Los Cabos was on my side of the street, so I decided to go with it. I'm glad I did! I went into the Cantina/lounge area and sat at the bar. Staff was quite friendly. I had two jumbo margaritas mmmmmm. I speak some Spanish, so I had a nice conversation with the two bartenders. Food was good and large portions so I could have some leftovers for lunch. I was in search of some good drinks, food, and conversation and that's just what I found. Gracias mis amigos! read more

Wow, probably the most awful Mexican meal I had in a while... actually probably the most awful meal of any ethnic style in a while. Tim M. and I were starving after a day of climbing and decided to stop in. I had the tres cabos (which is three meals in one). The carne asada left a weird taste in my mouth, the bacon wrapped shrimp was deep friend to a burnt crisp with minimal flavoring, and the chicken breast was so bad I refused to eat it (smell and tastes kinda like poop). To give you a sense of what it takes for me to not eat something: I hate wasting food, so I have eaten bugs, worms, and whale blubber. It's impossibly rare when something is so bad that I won't eat it. And Tim's fajitas are just barely any better. The only reason it even earned its single star is because the service is PHENOMENAL. But unfortunately, that will not carry its terrible food. DO NOT GO. read more

I have no idea how anyone could give this place more than one star. This is BY FAR the most disgusting food I have ever ordered. I left hungry because I couldn't stomach eating their food. The first red flag is when we asked for some mild salsa for the kids and the stuff they brought out was steaming hot and tasted like watered down bean water. It looked as if they poured a can of cheap vegetable beef soup into a salsa bowl. Then our meals came out and I had ordered a ground beef burrito and a picadillo enchilada. When I brought a bite of the ground beef burrito up to my mouth, I caught a whiff of it and realized the ground beef smelled like dog food. I tried to look past it and took a bite; big mistake. It tasted like what I imagine Alpo dog food tastes like and had a very weird texture. I decided I couldn't do it, so I went to try the enchilada. Again, the picadillo inside the enchilada tasted like a cheap pot roast TV dinner. Disgusting. Myself, my mother-in-law, son, and nephew only ate about two bites of our meals. This place is very good! My favorite go to Mexican food. Very friendly people and service is awesome. Food is brought out quick and hot! Love their Macho Burrito and their Chicken Taquitos! If you come here between 10:30-3 pm, you can get the lunch portion. It's huge so I'm sure that the regular plate must need a to go box. Never a disappointment in this place. Located right as you turn in for the Mc Donald's RV parking. It sits back off the street and signage is not as visible. A must place to eat! read more

Some restaurants are MexiCAN. This one is MexiCAN'T! Heading home after visiting family in Blaine, WA, we decided to stop for fuel in Ellensberg and grab a quick roadside lunch. There were plenty of fast food places but this "real" restaurant beckoned - we've been on an extended RV trip to Alaska and hadn't eaten good Mexican food in quite awhile. Los Cabos looked promising.... Nicely painted and decorated on the outside and the inside was clean and festively decorated. Our friendly server was quick to meet, greet, and seat. Another plus. We ordered our drinks and made selections from the lunch menu - my wife the tortilla soup and I the taco, rice, and beans. The food arrived in minutes and appeared fresh and piping hot.... Then the bubble burst. The food lacked flavor. My wife's tortilla soup tasted like plain old chicken broth and she didn't even get a tortilla with her order - doesn't come with one. That's a first. The taco tasted like ground beef... Barely a hint of any spices. The was adequate lettuce, no onions, and instead of the typical cubed tomatoes, a single thick slice of a large tomato. The cheese was not the typical Mexican cheese. Just plain old shredded American. The rice was also bland and lacked that good Mexican flavor. It was better than plain white rice, but not by much. The refried beans were okay. The bill? $25.00 for two, soda pop included. My advice: Skip this place, stop at Taco Bell. The food will taste better and will cost you half as much. read more

On our way through to Seattle and we needed fuel. We decided we were hungry and came to Yelp for help. This place looked good and the reviews were pretty good so we decided to stop. The warm chips came with a salsa that had a smoky chipotle taste. It was ok but not my favourite. We decided to order the pico de gallo with it but it was very plain. I like my pico with a little lime and a pinch of salt helps with flavour, but this seemed to be missing both. I was worried because while the chips were fresh and flavourful the two sides were a fail. We both had carne asada and it was a very pleasant surprise. The meat was exactly opposite of the pico. It was very flavourful and the refried beans were pretty good. I'd pass on the rice but who orders carne asada for the beans and rice anyway? The steak was great with the cooked green onions and if I was only rating that I might give it 5 stars. Unfortunately, the rest of the meal was no where close to that. read more
