If you prefer to eat solely in swanky restaurants, this won't be the place for you. If like me, however, you appreciate good food in all settings, then get down to Los Argentinos. With more of a cafe vibe than a restaurant, this is a relaxing place to grab an excellent steak. And Argentinian Steak is what this place is all about, yes there are Grilled Chicken and Fish options on the menu, but the steak is the real speciality. For starters we had Empanadas, which are mini pastie-shaped samosa like affairs. One spicy mince & peppers etc the other spiced vegetables. A good, authentic starter. We also had the Grilled Tiger Prawns which were absolutely delicious, the chargrill flavour permeating throughout. Having ordered the Chorizo sausages to start, in one of many little aspects that characterised the superb service, the waitress pointed out that Chorizo was included in our main and asked if we wanted to change. The staff struck the balance of being very attentive without becoming an unwanted distraction and were very friendly. Back to the food, for the mains we opted for the Platas selections, which come with salad and either Chips or Jacket Potato. One person went for the Ribs and when they were brought out commented that she, "Couldn't possibly eat all of those". Anyway, she enjoyed them so much they were all devoured. Another of our party chose the peppered fillet steak which, having tried a little, was very tender and the sauce creamy. My brother and I shared the Mixta Platos, which was superb value. It is designed for two (a little like a Noah's Ark for meat lovers, 2 by 2 of everything) and came with; Chorizo Sausage - very rich and beautifully smokey. Ribs - tender ribs in tangy BBQ sauce. Grilled Chicken Fillets - with a lovely chargrilled taste. Rump Steak Sirloin Steak Fillet Steak The steaks were really tasty and having three cuts represented on the same plate really made you appreciate the difference. From the more substantial, densely packed texture of Rump, to the almost creamy smoothness of the Fillet they were all delicious in their own way. In fact, with the flavour of the meat, I was reluctant to use any of the sauces apart from the Argentinian staple for grilled meat Chimichurri which I had pretty much every third mouthful or so. We had chips & a jacket potato as sides to this meat feast. The potato was fluffy and the chips were crisp. The sauces I hadn't used with the steak proved to be excellent chip dips. Drinks were a bottle of Malbec and a couple of Quilmes beers (Argentina's most popular) brewed since 1888 and ideal with the steak. If you're looking for a casual dining experience and good steaks - I recommend a visit! (I was swung to give 5 stars rather than 4 due to the balance of quality of food and value for money)

What a lovely place! We were greeted by the friendly staff and served excellent craft beers. The garlic steak was tender and wonderful! For dessert, you have to try the sticky toffee pudding. See the picture. You won't be disappointed.

Easy Menus, good beef, friendly Service. But not many dishes and no spices for the beef.

Walking into Wildfire, the brick and wood of the restaurant exude a wonderful energy and ambiance. We were greeted and shown to a table near the window and in the corner. We were close to the people at the next table, bit it offered an opportunity to strike up a conversation. The wine list was extensive, we chose a cider and the porter. They were both more than satisfactory. My wife and I shared the smoked salmon starter that was very good. It was lightly smoked, that brought out both the flavor of the fish, and enhanced it. The fish was moist and tender. Our main dishes included both the seabass and the combo mussels with prawns. The latter was the better choice with very sweet and tender mussels and an excellent sauce. The seabass was lightly pan fried and my wife really liked her selection. For dessert, we had the cheese platter and toffee cake with toffee sauce and vanilla ice cream. The coffee and tea completed our meal wonderfully. I recommend this restaurant highly.

There is an outdoor space that sits on the West Bow bend of Grassmarket, but nothing was set up for that when we were there for a late lunch. Perhaps it's a seasonal thing. All first impressions aside, it turned out to be a very good lunch. We were greeted immediately upon entering. We were fortunate to get a table without a reservation. You will definitely need one here during peak times. The service was warm & friendly. Artur was very helpful in answering all of our questions. The lunch menu is limited, but you can also order from the higher priced dinner menu as well. I was mostly amazed by the fact that you get complimentary oysters delivered to your table. My husband is not a seafood fan, so I was fortunate enough to enjoy both of them. These are large & tasty Pacific oysters grown at a farm in Loch Fyne. Delicious! It was such a great starter. I couldn't pass up the half kilo pot (lunch portion) of steamed mussels. These are Scottish rope-grown mussels. I should have ordered a kilo. They were so addicting. The white wine sauce with shallots was perfect. However, I did have a difficult time deciding which sauce to choose. The whisky with smoked bacon also sounded amazing. If I had to say anything negative, it would be to maybe add more bread to soak up the sauce. I probably could have asked for more, but I didn't. That's on me. I really wanted to return to try the Surf & Turf. We just didn't have enough time to do it all. I would go back in a heartbeat. It ended up being a great find. A great experience!

Sunday Roast: All the standards, but fancy. The really differentiator was the beef, which seem aged and very high quality. Great tender texture and nice gravy to go with it. Though a wee bit small portion of meat. The veggies were cooked very nicely with a lot of freshness and textures, not mushy like some pubs serve. The only weird thing is that the yorkshire pudding seemed to be deep fried. Added an overly crispy texture which as kinda weird; I prefer traditionally baked. Toffee Apple Pudding: More like a bread pudding than a sticky pudding. Filled with great flavor and a few nice baked apples bit on top. Great toffee sauce and ice cream to round it out. Blackberry & Lime Soda: So much better than those highly sugared sodas you get at the store. Definitely tasted the fresh fruit and artisanal methods.
