Unfortunately, the match at Cheam was cancelled very late by the opposition captain who arrived late!!! So, both teams were all assembled by the time he got there to make the official decision not to play. As we had already cleared time in our schedule to play, my team decided instead to have breakfast together. A quick wander through Cheam Village brought us to Piggies, which was warm and serving cooked breakfasts. Piggies offers a full sandwich bar service but cooks hot breakfasts to order as well. My team had a variety of different items, ranging from scrambled egg to sausages to mushrooms. Other than a few mixups with orders, the food did arrive quite fast. Piggies was a nice place to spend a morning warming up after the disappointment of not being to play our match.

Made fresh to order it is the epitomny of a great little local sandwich shop. In fact I used to have driving lessons round Cheam and my instructor and I had a conversaton about good Piggies is and the next thing I know we are pulling in and getting food. I would agree with Sarah's comment about good value for money too. It is my favourite food place in Cheam Village I reckon.

Sometimes you just need a good British fry up to get you going and the cardiologists in trade! Cafe 1 is located towards the southern end of town and has nice decor and ambiance. The full English is large, reasonably priced and available all day. There are also cakes available but I've not been here for morning elevenses or afternoon tea. It's worth a look for those days you fancy a cholesterol splurge!

I ordered a coffee and a water. I'm still waiting on the water. Looked at the food menu given to me by the waiter. 10 mins later I order the salt beef sandwich. Same waiter told me they didn't have any left. Why didn't he tell me what was unavailable at the start. Then he said have another sandwich (not in a nice way). What Banstead has been missing…read more A thoughtfully considered, independent restaurant serving excellent meals from breakfast to dinner. The food is precisely what's been lacking in Banstead. Finally there's a real option to find quality meals that will hopefully draw locals and visitors alike, away from the chain restaurants and coffee bars that have taken over the high street in recent years. I imagine other independent restaurants are going to have to up their game to compete now too - here's to healthy competition raising standards. The cute interior design, with a contemporary Art Deco twist and mellow jazz playing at an unobtrusive level in the background creates a great atmosphere. If there's any criticism to be made it's that the drinks can take a while. We've been back 2 days running already and I'm sure we'll be back again.

The establishment is beautifully decorated and you can tell the owner really invested in the place and the people who work there. There is a pink bicycle parked outside, the establishment is pink, the decor is very elegant--perfect for a photo op I opt to do the afternoon tea with Prosecco added on as well as some scones to go. It was a very fair price per person. Under £80 for the entire experience for 2 people. They also sell other assorted desserts, shakes and cakes All the employees were attentive, they explained in detail what our package came with and they made sure we were happy from start to finish. Unfortunately I didn't make the reservation myself (relied on family in London to make it) so we didn't get booked for the afternoon tea service as I'd hoped and just had a reserved table instead. Still, I indulged in some scones with cream and strawberry jam, paired with a strong cup of decaf English breakfast tea. We decided to give this place a go for lunch, it sells various types of bread, savouries, paninis,toasties and cakes. I decided to try the beef and vegetable pie and it was a large square tin filled with chunks of beef and vegetables - I can safely say this is the best pie i have ever eaten and not mass produced but made on the premises. Once the pie coma had subsided i then tried the chocolate cream filled donut - did i mention that we had just been to the gym so this was well deserved. Even though it recently opened it already has a strong following as by 12.30 alot of the pies, pasties etc had finished but you can ring and order them. As we always have a pie night on the menu instead of the higgledy pies i normally get this will be on my shopping list though i will ring to reserve them to avoid missing out. They sell 2 varieties - chicken and mushroom (haven't tried this yet) and the beef and veg (pics to follow on the checkin) I noticed they also sell the little portaguese custard tarts (which are a favourite of mine). I have tried several varieties of their pies including steak & kidney, chicken & leek, beef & vegetable, all home made tasting scrummy. The pasties and sausage rolls are tasty and ample size. The jam doughnuts are huge, fluffy and full of jam. At Lunch time they serve homemade soup, pannis, toasties etc. A large selection of freshly made sandwiches along with refreshments. The service is always super friendly. There are not many tables but it's worth waiting. The cafe is spotless, bright and welcoming. Always happy to take a telephone order and have it waiting for you to collect. It's a thumb up from me. Xoxo
