I can not imagine a better place to have outpatient surgery and I can compare this place to many other places (Los Gatos Community Hospital, CPMC, Good Samaritan, Massachusetts General Hospital, and Harvard Student Health Center). My orthopedist, Dr. Daniel Haber performs his surgeries here and I had an excellent experience. This place is in a residential neighborhood in Los Altos (read quiet, lots of trees, tranquil, and very nice). It's a pretty white house with a nice walkway. The nurses here are fantastic, they call you the day before and the day after to check in on you. The waiting room is full of good magazine, wi-fi, and comfy couches. Each nurse treated me with kindness, Chris (thanks for the help with the gown), Connie (a complete darling), Kristine, a Chinese man anesthesiologist, and after that I can't recall. I have not taken Valium before, except for the half I was given before my Lasik eye surgery (another place) and they gave me 2 when I arrived, after feeling mellow, they had me lay in a hospital bed but this one was heated and toasty warm, put an IV in (didn't hurt), and the next thing I knew I was awake, being wheeled out to the car by a very handsome man nurse, and on my way home. Each person was so kind and positive. My ankle was wrapped up so well and they made sure I knew what to do/watch out for in the following days, so no complications happened. The next day Connie called me to check in on me. That made me feel special. Thank you everyone for taking good care of me! My Achilles Tendinosis Debridement went well and I am so looking forward to running, jumping, skipping, and playing again! read more

I went in to have my shoulder treated by dr. Daniel Haber last month -- he is absolutely the best. Kind, professional and really listens to his patients. I've had so many doctors try to tell me what's wrong with my shoulder and what caused the pain (rude) without even asking me any questions... Dr. Haber gets to know his patients and really help them to recovery. The staff overall are friendly and bubbly. I would definitely recommend this center to anyone ! read more

In September 2011 I had arthroscopic knee surgery done here by Dr. Daniel Haber, with "Dr. Mo" as my anesthesiologist, and Connie was one of my nurses. There were a few more whose names I sadly don't remember anymore. It was my first ever surgery and I was very nervous. They went out of their way to make me feel comfortable. These folks are happy and good at their jobs and it rubs off in how they make their patients feel. NOTHING at all like the typical hospital where it seems like the staff want to be there even less than you. The surgery itself ended up being the best part about my whole knee injury saga. I was so happy with them that I sent a nice letter with a smiling picture of me leaving the surgery center with my knee all bandaged up, along with a box of bundt cupcakes. The letter and photo may still be posted up on their bulletin board. Below is the text of my letter: -------------------------------- Dear Staff at Los Altos Surgery Center, These cakes are to show my appreciation for making my first-ever surgery as comfortable as possible. I have never before been to a hospital-like environment where I got service with a smile, instead of service with a snarl. You folks look like you actually enjoy your work, instead of looking like you just want to collect paychecks. And you treat patients like humans, with dignity, instead of treating patients like whiney pains in the butt that you just want to knock out ASAP with Dr. Mo's Fentanyl. I felt like I was at a spa and not at a surgery center! Thus far the surgery was the best part of my whole ACL experience - the most pain I felt was the IV needle insertion. I've actually felt more pain getting a facial. And the double Valium! It was divine! Oh boy that made my day. It's unfortunate that I can't take Valium now to deal with my wife complaining every time I make her fetch beer. (You see, my crutches don't have cupholders) If I have one complaint, it's that you didn't put any dextrose in my IV. You guys knew I hadn't eaten since the night before. I was so hungry when I woke up, I was ready to eat the bloody dressings on my knee. But it's all good, because I didn't follow your advice to go easy with eating. Nausea? What nausea? When I got home, I had a pint of ice cream, 2 brownies, and 3 cups of yogurt. I did have to force my wife to feed it all to me because she was afraid of having to clean it all up off the bed in case I ended up tasting it twice. Please do yourself a favor and research this surgery center and the recent law suits they are involved in. I had a poor surgery experience here 2 years ago. Was cold, uncomfortable, the Dr was late etc...and now the financial crap begins. My surgery was 2 yrs ago...my insurance has refused to pay the entire claim. Crazy expensive. I had no idea the surgery center was involved in lawsuits about overbilling etc. We have never received a bill from the center and just this week we receive a threatening settlement letter that states if we don't pay the proposed settlement in 10 days (actually less since the letter took 5 days to get to us) we would be on the hook for the full payment of $34,000+ and it would be turned over to collections. My surgery took less than 2 hours...the $34,000+ was the leftover that my insurance wouldn't pay...the insurance paid around $27,000. So please be a more informed customer than I was...it was a very costly mistake for us but we are hoping to be finished with this surgery center and whatever schemes they have going on. For those of you that are wondering...my knee surgery was not a success:-( read more

I'm the wife waiting for my husband having surgery. The very young staff here is extremely unprofessional & inappropriate. While sitting in the waiting room which is open to the hallway I had to listen to all their conversations about personal life, favorite tv shows (with details of inappropriate content), a girl's new hairdo, etc. They swore left & right, even dropping F-bombs, and referred to each other as dude or dumb ass most of the time. None of this made me feel comfortable or confident about leaving my husband in their care. It wasn't the doctor, but it was the nurses & techs. From the moment I stepped into this center I felt extremely comfortable. The staff was so friendly and super professional. They answered all my questions and were so positive! Dr. Haber came highly recommended by a close family friend and he did not disappoint. He was super friendly and patient with me when I asked him all of my questions. He took the time to explain the whole procedure to me and was very understanding when I told him I was a bit anxious. All in all everything went better than amazing and I have no complaints. GREAT: I am a patient of Nezhat (the Rock is my profile pic...hehe). I had a pretty good experience at this center. It was clean, I had a lot of attention from the clnic staff and I felt good when I left the center. The reason they deserve 4 stars... NOT SO GREAT: because I was told I would receive a call days prior to my surgery to discuss fees, surgery preparation, etc. I got a call ~ 7pm on Wed the day before my surgery telling me to refraim from solid foods starting at midnight...when I told her my surgery was the next day she said "oh" follow what ever your doctor said- really? Then she went on to tell me I will owe $1500 during the visit...WTF? I just paid $2500 to my surgeon's office the week before and now a few hours before sugery I have to come up with $1500. I thought the insurance and fee part of the surgery was not handled well. Depsite this news...they were willing to work with me...but I would hope so - who has $1500 lying around after dishing out $2500...not me! Great facility for out patient surgery but poor office management when it it comes to preparing a patient financially for surgery. Call the center yourself well in advance to make sure you understand you financial responsibiliites. read more

There are great things about this place and not so great things about this place. The great: 1. The ratio of nurses to patients is very small. You get a lot of attention, especially after the surgeries are done for the day. 2. There is supposedly state of the art equipment there. 3. It is very quiet. The not so great: 1. This place is so small, that you are left at night under the care of two nurse (or a nurse and a nurses' assistant). If the people are great, they are great. If they aren't, you are kind of stuck. One shift didn't want to give me much pain medication. The next shift over did it with pain medication, and my heart rate got dangerously low. She gave me a lot of pain medication to help me sleep, and then woke me up a few hours later to tell me to get dressed to go home (even though the doctors didn't arrive for 2 hours later to release me). One nurse apparently didn't know how to work with my IV an ended up getting blood EVERYWHERE. 2. I was told they would call me a few days before the surgery with instructions, but I didn't hear from them until the day before the surgery, when they called in the afternoon five times while I was doing surgery prep. They left me messages telling me to bring $500 the next day because my insurance required it (which was completely wrong). 3. When I arrived, I was asked to look over my information which was all completely incorrect including my insurance information, address, and the details of my surgery. Luckily I paid attention. But it didn't make me feel good about being there. 4. After the surgery, they told my husband to go home and that he couldn't stay anymore. He asked if there was some chicken broth for me to have for dinner and they told him yes. He drove home (an hour away), and it turned out they had nothing. I was starving and wanted nourishment, but I had to wait until the next day. Not ideal for recovering from a major surgery. They didn't seem to care. 5. It is pretty boring there because the room doesn't even have a tv. I wouldn't choose to go back there. read more

OK,...so a show of hands for who of us wants to review a surgery center? That's what I thought. I mean, that means surgery right? Yes,...well I had a very necessary meniscus surgery here this week and have to say it went so much better than I anticipated. The staff here were so friendly and cheerful I felt at ease from the very beginning. The receptionist was very welcoming. They have a nice waiting area with a flat screen as well as Wi-Fi, which makes it nice for those who are waiting and providing rides.The seats are very comfortable as well. Chris and Kristen were awesome. They were my assigned nurses and helped prep me for surgery. They were thoughtful, friendly, and good conversationalists, which really helped put me at ease and took my mind off the impending surgery. They also were very informative and let me know how everything would proceed. The feel here was very different from a hospital. Everyone here seemed eager and upbeat. My ortho surgeon, Dr. Daniel Haber, was excellent as well as his nurse Roy, who called me the night before to screen me and remind me not to eat/drink after midnight. As I wait to start my PT I really have to say my experience here was much better than I thought it might go. The staff here are professional, happy to serve, and excellent at putting patients at ease. Thanks guys! I truly appreciate it. read more
