After having bought my home specifically to be in the Loretto Elementary school zone, I have to say I'm terribly disappointed. That said, I cannot blame the school as whole, as my terrible experiences have been centered around a single kindergarten teacher, Mrs. Bateh. She is neglectful of her students and when she is approached by parents about this, she is incredibly dismissive. She does nothing to address classroom bullies; in fact when my child has tried to tell her that she was being bullied, Mrs. Bateh stated she did not believe it and sent my child back to her seat (next to the bully). My child has also gotten in trouble and had playground privileges taken away for standing up for herself as the teacher will do nothing. Not only does she permit bullying by students, she herself is quite the bully, in one instance making a comment to my child about how much nicer the classroom is without her. In a few short months, this teach has turned a child who loved school into a child that comes home and cries about the way she is treated at school and begs to stay home everyday.
If your child is beginning kindergarten at Loretto and is assigned to Mrs. Bateh's class, I can only recommend that you demand a transfer, do not let this woman torment your child as she has done mine. read more
