The pies are warmed up for you in the microwave, so the crust is not super crispy and flaky, but it's still pretty decent nonetheless. I didn't find the filling to be really exciting though - it seemed like just shredded chicken that was slightly sweet which was a little odd. I wanted there to be vegetables or something else in there. I appreciated that it was warmed at least and it fit the bill for a meal under 10 CHF, and it was a decent lunch - not super filling but it was just barely enough food. I wouldn't go out of my way to come here to eat, but if you're in the area and want food, this is a decent option. They don't take credit cards under 10 CHF, so plan accordingly.

So, when I was done doing my other errand, I popped in and was pleasantly surprised. I was immediately greeted warmly and asked if I needed any help. I told them that I'd just like to look around. The shop is split into the grocery side and the gift/decor side. I happened to be much more interested in the grocery side. It's small but it has a lot... a lot more than I'd found anywhere in Europe in the almost 9 years I've been here. Tomatillos (almost impossible to find in my searches)... fresh and canned, some good quality tequilas, hand/homemade goodies of all sorts. I bought some chips and tamales and I'm really looking forward to trying them. My wife is jealous that I got to go but she didn't... therefore, I know that we'll be back soon.

The varieties are much better in the morning then in the afternoon. I do enjoy the coffees here a lot. A little on the stronger side, which I prefer. The wait staff is not particularly friendly but neither are they rude. They put up with my 2 yr old hyper active daughter every time (and the mess she inevitably creates) so I can't complain really. The Aragosta pastry I had this afternoon was particularly yummy and generously filled with custard cream. It was quite huge and a bit messy to eat but nonetheless, I enjoyed every bite of it along with my perfect cup of cappuccino.

Service was not overly friendly but efficient. They speak English, German and Vietnamese (maybe more but that's all I heard). We ordered the beef pho and chicken pho, and split the spring rolls which came with four small rolls. The pho was generously sized and I preferred the beef broth over the chicken broth. They automatically give you a small dipping bowl with half Sriracha and half hoisin sauce for your pho meat, which I've never seen before. Toppings (bean sprouts, herbs) came in the bowl instead of on the side as well. Flavor was not exactly what I'm used to in the US but was good enough for what we wanted. Some fish sauce on the table would have been nice, although they did have soy sauce and chili oil. My main issue was the price. 25 francs for a bowl of pho is probably reasonable for Zurich but the most expensive bowl of pho I've ever had. They also charge one franc per cup of tap water which is a bit much in my opinion. Next time I'll just bring my reusable water bottle.

However, our visit was in February. During this time of the year, there is a large circular building with indoor seating. Great place to eat and socialize over fondue and classic Swiss food. Local beers are available. I had the country bratwurst. The vegetables were very good. We were seated at a communal table. Our server spoke english so ordering was very easy.

The seating was comfortable, plentiful, and this was probably our favorite food spot in Zurich. All in all, definitely a must-eat in Zurich if you're visiting.

Zürich, Switzerland…read more Of course, Sprüngli is another must stop visit when you're in Zürich besides the Ladërach. The location I went to is inside the train station. It's small but can comfortably hold a few people. There are plenty of displays to choose from. I wanted to buy some of their famous Luxemburgerli macarons but had a hard time deciding, so I asked the employee for the best sellers. She suggested three, and I went with those. She also mentioned they last 3-4 days and should be refrigerated immediately. It was a little treat for my daughter, and she absolutely loved them. It survived the 12hr flight . Perfect spot to pick up something special for yourself or to take home as a gift!
