Ever have an interaction with a business that seems a bit surreal? That was my situation when I sent out a request for a quote through Yelp. I have to start by saying that I made a mistake, and Lorang's Landscapes was contacted twice for the same project. One time the business responded with call me at (insert number) here. I missed that message as I have several projects that I was looking for quotes on, and I was using the Yelp feature that allows the user to send the messages to multiple companies at the same time. That being said, even though I made a mistake and missed the number. It did not deserve the message I received. Thomas "Tommy," the owner, responded to my second request with sarcasm and rudeness. I did not realize at this time that I had messaged the same company, and Tommy did not mention it. It was only after a couple of messages did he state that he sent me his number, and I realized the confusion. The interaction could have ended there as I told him I wasn't interested, but he continued to message, and I had nothing better to do, so I responded in kind. This would lead itself to him calling me a liar, a fake customer, and accusing me of being from Yelp Business trying to scam him. Anyone looking at this business for their landscaping needs should be wary of how this business owner treats their potential customers. I doubt it gets better with his actual customers. According to reviews, he seems to do good work, but heaven forbid you to try and contact him through Yelp. He has his business listed in Yelp and connected everything but does not understand how Yelp works, which he takes out on the user. I've attached the conversation for your viewing pleasure. Maybe I'm wrong and everyone will see it different but I will be taking my business elsewhere and leading everyone I know to do the same. Update: I'd like to reiterate. I am not associated with Yelp in any way. I was a prospective customer looking for a quote. NOT associated in any way with Yelp except as a customer using Yelp. I used Yelp to request multiple quotes. As mentioned, I made a mistake and some received the request twice. I ended up getting 5 different quotes and went Professional Brothers Landscaping who treated me with respect even after my mix-up on quote requesting and did a wonderful job! read more

Tommy and his team were great. My yard started out a mess and when I returned home to the finished product my blackberry bushes were basically a non-issue, all the weeds had been hauled away (there were A LOT of them), edging was clean and I was a very happy camper. When talking to Tommy, it's obvious he knows a lot about the business. Right down to the Binomial nomenclature for each tree, flower and bush. Tommy also had a good attitude and is easy to work with. He definitely takes pride in his work and has been in the industry for many years, he'll tell you stories. Tommy was cleaning up my yard on my birthday, and even took the time to bring me a special treat as a birthday gift, so thoughtful. The only thing that perhaps went amiss was that one of his workers did not show, but Tommy handled the issue gracefully and you wouldn't notice the difference with how much effort was put into the yard. read more

Note to businesses, when you put your name on a vehicle, you might not want to drive like a jerk. Was almost run off the road by the Lorang's Landscapes truck. When I called the owner, it was obvious that he was the one driving the truck as I could hear traffic in the background, and he pretended that there was something wrong with his phone. I rarely give low ratings but I think the owner in the company driving dangerously and then blowing off complaints might indicate how he runs his business. read more

If not for the fact that Lorang's is dependable and does keep the property well maintained, I would have given them 1 star. The owner is arrogant and treats property tenants as if he were their manager. When issues arise, as they of course would with multiple individuals living in an area being cared for, rather than be respectful and bring up his requests in a businesslike manner, his method of handling them is very confrontational and combative; he comes across as quite angry in all interactions. Everyone in our complex (multi-unit property) is afraid of running into him for fear he will angrily confront them about an issue, that he has either with them, or about one of the other tenants! In a nutshell, their work is good, but personal interaction - terrible. read more

I had an awful experience with the owner Tom Lorang, he is not a people person and does not know how to talk to a customers, let alone a paying customer, does he not understand that if it wasn't for the customers he wouldnt have a business. Even the way he interacts with his employees is horrible, Because of this I DO NOT RECOMMEND HIS SERVICES!!!!!! I wont pay for services and be treated like a second rate citizen. read more

I have not employed Lorang's Landscapes, but also will not. For over an hour this morning, my work colleague and I were subjected to a scene outside a house across the street from us that left us disturbed for the rest of the day. There were two people and a dog that emerged from the Lorang's truck to work on the neighbor's lawn-- a white man on crutches (the owner himself?) and a (non-white) worker. The man on crutches shouted abusively at the other employee and at his dog for at least 45 minutes. He was so loud and so nasty (swearing and repeatedly threatening to fire the worker) that we couldn't work. I nearly called the police to come. He swore at a neighbor who gently asked him if he could tone it down and told her to mind her own business, repeatedly (and dangerously) grabbed motorized tools (edger, weed whacker...) from the worker, and otherwise was so aggressive and unpleasant that I vowed to take action, including writing this note. read more
