Went in and asked for a very specific yarn. I have used this yarn before, and was just looking for it or something like it. Received a very rude answer and it was abrupt with no offer of another yarn or anything. Was told that the yarn I was looking for was not East Tennessee friendly. Went to store during yarn tour and as I was leaving I was informed by staff member that part of yarn tour was to make a purchase at store. Although I have made purchases in the past at this store I didn't see anything that interested me on this visit. The staff member was very rude and informed me again that was part of tour was to buy while at each store. There are many yarn stores in area with wonderful and welcoming staff so I won't recommend Loopville and I won't be returning. read more

I started a blanket for my first child 40 years ago--never finished it. Worked on it again 2 years later for my second child--never finished it. I am now looking forward to the birth of my first, and probably only, grandbaby. I took out that vexing blanket and realized, beginning to work on it again, was truly intimidating. I found Loopville on the internet and called. They were encouraging on the phone, so I went to the shop. There I received expert help and more encouragement. I went home and proceeded to mess up. I went back and my mistake was corrected. Again, I went home. Again, I goofed. The women at Loopville are extremely helpful and EXTREMELY patient. The yarns available are gorgeous, varied, and abundant. I hope my next visit is merely to purchase and not for knitting help. I was and am very impressed with all the shop has to offer and with the knowledgeable, competent, patient employees. read more

This shop is packed full of beautiful yarns in a good range of prices. There really is something for everyone. I found yarn from $5 up to $25+, and it's all high quality. I am a longtime crocheter, and I did find a few books and accessories for crochet in the shop, but it seems that there is a lot more geared towards knitters. I recently decided to take up knitting, so I was able to get a few sets of Knitters Pride needles and some good tips from the friendly staff as well. I really enjoyed the atmosphere in Loopville with the couches and armchairs for groups or individuals to stop and work on projects and just hang out. Really made the place feel more like a friend's living room. The staff is very encouraging of projects and seem to really appreciate their customers. I will definitely return. read more

I really enjoy browsing in this shop and everyone who works here has always been nice to me... even though I'm a crocheter, not a knitter... and yes sometimes yarn shop people are abit rude to me because I don't knit... but whatever! This shop is beautiful! The old location they had was quite cramped but not so now... very very open and light with all the windows! A nice, well lit sittng area to work on project or look through pattern books. Much yarn... beautiful high quality yarn!!! I bought some japanese yarn there on sale that was amazing! But with high quality yarn comes high prices... I browse the whole store but only buy from their sale rack... which usually has some great stuff on it! They carry some crochet magazines and some crochet books which is very nice for me! Check this place out if you crochet or knit... and they offer classes on knitting also. read more

I was visiting Knoxville, TN and checked out yarn shops in the area. This one sounded like a good place to visit based on the reviews. Also, it is a local shop, not a chain. However, I was very disappointed. I checked out the online store prior to going in person and I had in mind some items that I might want to purchase, especially one of the kits. I couldn't find what I was looking for and asked for assistance, but the person working at the store at the time acted as though my request was just a bother. I then asked if the store had any local yarns (I saw yarns from Italy, Peru, etc., but nothing local). Again, I got a response that made me feel that my patronage was not important. I would have given my experience one star, but I did find some yarn on sale that I liked a lot. The shop is really messy but does have some beautiful yarn. I must say that even if I lived locally, I would not return to the shop. read more

My daughter and I went to Loopville for a "learn to crochet" class. We had an awesome young lady for our instructor. I guess there is no separate room for lessons, because we just sat on a couch and had our lesson. The shop was small, but nice and clean. We had a great experience. read more

Disappointed! I purchased a circular needle last week and explained that the square needles I was working with broke in the middle of a project. My only concern was a difference in gauge between my squares and the rounds I purchased. Knitters commonly refer to this. The employee said she knew nothing about it and never mentioned a problem returning the product. I saved the package and receipt as a precaution, went home and after 20 stitches realized there was too great of a difference. I returned the needles to their package and went back a week later-I don't live in the area- to return them. A store credit would have been fine. Loopville was my go-to yarn shop in the area. The same employee I purchased them from did not even get out of her chair to look at the item. I told her they weren't compatible with my previous needles and she told me to read my receipt. I asked what I was looking for and she told me once I purchased the needles they were mine. I explained that in one row I could tell the difference and they weren't going to work. I feel she should have advised me at the time of purchase, especially since we had the conversation about compatibility prior to my purchase. There is fine print on the receipt about used yarn and accessories but nothing specific about needles. They are durable items and their packaging is very user friendly. This business was happy to forfeit a customer for $9.49. I was fortunately able to find compatible needles online and can finish my project. read more

I just read Deanna M's unjustifiably vitriolic review of Loopville Yarn...sounds like SOMEBODY hasn't gotten any in a long while and I don't mean yarn. As a commissioned knitter for Vogue Knitting, I must say Loopville is just about the most pleasant, customer-service oriented place I've shopped, and I have shopped them all from Denmark to NYC to Santa Barbara. Loopville has great stock, lovely colors and a really nice staff, including a young, ponytailed man who can really knit. The owner is a creative delight and every time I've been in her shop there are several customers on the sofa knitting, asking questions and looking pretty happy. And Loopville will special order anything. Too bad Deanna is such a miserable soul, but I doubt any yarn shop can fix that for her. If she is so opposed to personal service, perhaps she will do better in the yarn section of AC Moore. read more

Went in looking for something different. Was approached by a woman named Ki who was quite rude. She asked me if I was a knitter and I declined to answer as I do both knit and crochet. She had no interest in telling me about products and acted as if I was an annoyance at best. She was more interested in her book (sorry for the interruption Ki). The shop has many beautiful items but is quite pricey. Specialty yarns are worth the cost but I don't need any negativity while shopping and am taking my business elsewhere. Dear owner, do yourself a favor and either re-train your staff to be service oriented and less judgemental about who comes in your store OR get a new employee who will serve the public. read more
