This was a gem in downtown Knoxville. Located just across the street from our Airbnb. The employees were friendly and welcomed me to look around. The plants and the merchandise/gifts are a great touch. I ordered a delicious iced caramel latte with oat milk and it was probably one of the best I've ever had. On my search for the perfect coffee shop, I tried out Jack's! This is their old city location that does not sell plants (unlike their north knoxville location). I think they have solid coffee and a very cute store-- you can buy little souvenirs if you're visiting knoxville. However, I think they've fallen victim to the overpriced latte epidemic. Service was nothing to write home about but nothing to complain about either! read more

This place was actually how I got into coffee. I went with my sister downtown once and she went inside of this sugar waxing place and while I was waiting for her to finish I bought us both hot chocolates and it was the best hot chocolate I've ever bought. A month or so later I figured I'd have to try their coffee if their hot chocolate was so good. I was hooked. I became somewhat close with the owner and one other worker there since I visited so often. Sadly, I can't remember her name now but I asked her if she has any drink suggestions and she put me on their rose syrup which I now get with their lattes almost everytime I go. I asked her again another time for any suggestions and she made me my first matcha. I have to say my second favorite place purely for nostalgic reasons. The inside is a tad millennial but I love how there seems to be plants in every corner and the out door seating in the back is just the cutest tucked away spot as well. I just love this coffee shop. Besides their incredible coffee (whether you like it black, in a latte or cappuccino), the atmosphere is super cozy. The little shop has a variety of unique items like soaps, candles, craft chocolate and more. The baristas are very friendly and make a killer cup of coffee. The people are so down to earth and friendly. If I lived closer i'd be here a few times a week. The vibe is very 'plant mom'-esque with a bunch of really cool home goods you can peruse. They've got some games (we played dominos) and art that is for sale. And the espresso that I got was amaaaziing, i was buzzin for a good 2 hours. Next time i'm in knoxville i'll be back! read more

It was a snowing, frigid Saturday morning but I had an appointment in the area so I had to leave my house. I knew I wanted a warm cup of something for the drive back home but I didn't want to walk downtown and it really didn't make sense to move my car, so I figured I'd look around the area to see if there was a place I could easily walk to. I walked past 2 store fronts and saw Jack's. I went in and I'm so happy I did! The place is cozy on the inside with the coffee bar and plants on the wall as soon as you enter. There are also other things to look at for purchase such as soaps and candles as well. I didn't have time to peruse the store entirely to see what else they have, but next time I'm making the time to do so. I was greeted when I walked in by the 2 baristas. I told them it was my first time in the store and they told me about their seasonal menu on a standup card by the register. I took a look and immediately had a dilemma with which drink to order--they all sounded so good! I decided on the Nutcracker latte since those flavors will soon be leaving us. I told them that I usually order a black americano because I love the flavor of coffee and don't enjoy sweet drinks. They said they could put in only half the amount of the syrups to see if that will better fit my tastes and if anything, they could always add more. So I decided to give that a try (I also ordered it with a double shot of espresso and oat milk). It was $7, so a little more pricy than some other places, but my drink was so smooth and had a really nice flavor--not too sweet, just right. So I'm okay with paying more for quality and good service. It wasn't busy when I went in--just myself and another customer sitting at one of the few tables when you walk through the door. Both baristas were friendly and helpful when I was asking questions about their menu and my preferences. They also did a great job making my drink just how I liked. I will visit this place again and look forward to trying something else on their menu and making time so I can sit and enjoy the atmosphere as well as look through more of the shop. read more

Place had an awesome vibe and would be good to chill or work at, but even when it is not busy a single coffee took over 30 minutes to make. They only had one employee on a Saturday morning. If you want to sit down with a laptop I'd recommend this place. If you want to drink coffee it might be quicker to walk to Peru and harvest your own beans. Edit: the single coffee ended up taking LITERALLY 55 minutes. read more

A nice little addition to the Gay street shops. This shop is similar to Rala on Jackson Ave...I'm kind of sad that Jacks of Knoxville isn't on Jackson Ave, but that's just because I would love the alliteration :) Otherwise, Jacks is another gift/art shop that supports local small businesses! Also, if you need to grab some flowers, Jacks will have Flourish Flower Truck (check them out on IG!) pre-made flower bouquets available for your choosing daily. This option is nice to have when the Flower Truck isn't out and about in colder weather. I look forward to seeing what other products Jacks will showcase in their shop! read more
