Loop 410 Veterinary Hospital I took my dog to Loop 410 Veterinary Hospital on 4/22 and had a very disappointing experience over the course of two days. During the first visit, I was told my dog needed bloodwork and X-rays. I initially asked for bloodwork first, but after being told X-rays might speed up the process, I agreed. The vet suspected Cushing's disease and recommended additional testing for the next day. The total for that first visit was $764.75. I was then told to drop my dog off the next morning between 7:00-7:30 AM for an 8-hour test, and I was quoted $450. I dropped her off at 7:10 AM and was told the vet would call me. I never received any call all day. When I finally called at 4:45 PM, I was told the last blood draw still had not been done and wouldn't happen until 6:30 PM. By then, my dog had been there for nearly 10 hours. When I arrived at 6:30 PM to pick her up, I asked about the promised call from the vet and was told my dog had not even been seen by the vet that day. That made no sense considering I was specifically told the vet would contact me. To make matters worse, I was then charged $639.97 instead of the quoted $450. When I asked why, I was told the original amount was only a "rough estimate," which had never been explained to me. I was also told a different test had been run, yet no one contacted me beforehand to explain the change in testing or cost. The lack of communication, unexpected charges, poor organization, and unwillingness to provide management contact information were extremely frustrating. I understand veterinary medicine can be complex, but customers deserve honesty, updates, and transparency--especially when leaving their pet all day and paying significant amounts of money. I cannot recommend this clinic based on my experience. Update: manager called me on 4/27 @ 3:51 PM and left a message 4/28: I called for an update on test results at 3:46 PM advised the vet was with a patient and would call me back. No call back today. The veterinarians that have worked with me--Dr. Ray (retired), Dr. Ann, Dr. Leckie, and Dr. Wille--have consistently displayed compassion and expertise at every visit. In addition, the ladies at the front desk are always gracious and patient, whether in person or on the phone, and the kennel staff engages beautifully with my pets. I can guarantee your fur baby will be in good hands. All the staff are super friendly and doctor Willie is the best. I never feel rushed and always feel like we are the priority when we're here. I was told that the vet couldn't see him bc he was the only one available and was running behind on his appointments. There was one person with his dog in the waiting area. Definitely would not recommend. Called this morning to see about getting a feral cat spay for an outside female kitten that lives at my apartment complex. I am trying to get the kitten used to humans and slowly falling in love with it. I have 5 cats on my own and really do not want to have another but she's growing on me and I possibly might keep her. Anyway, I don't make a lot of money so I was wanting to get the feral cat spay, which I very recently had done at Loop 410 Vet Hospital for another stray that I decided to keep (my 5th baby). Their normal cat spay is over $700. I was told that they recently changed their policy and if there's a chance that I plan on keeping the cat, they will only allow me to do the normal spay - the one that costs over $700. As it was, the feral cat spay with a rabies vaccination is just under $200. I am looking to personally help stop the feral cat population and I'm being told that I have to pay the full price. That's a company that is not looking for the best interest of the pets or their customers. Before this whole situation, I would have given them 4 stars. read more

I took my chihuahua in as an emergency, he was passing away in route to the hospital. We walked in and they took him back immediately. About 2 mins later the Vet came into the room and informed us he had passed away. Of course we were devastated but her compassion and sympathy helped us through the process. Going in I knew in my heart he wasn't going to make it. We were not charged any fees other than for the cremation in which we chose. I highly recommend this hospital to others. I never would have thought there would have been a veterinarian in this little shopping center. However there it Tis! It's decorated so pretty and the staff was extremely friendly. The staff also brings their own pets to work! My Lily (dog) has had chronic ear infections and Dr. Hale took such great care of her and gave me so many options on how to take care of her. I think we found our forever Vet hospital. The front and back staff were so knowledgeable and friendly. I'm sure we will love going there for years to come. read more

We (includes dog) finally found a Vet. Dr Hale is the most thorough Vet I've come across and I have over 30 years of showing dogs. He introduced himself to Penny while questioning us about Penny's history and medical history. Penny is our first English Bulldog and we learned so much from him. He took the time to explain all the problems of the breed. Then thoroughly examined every inch of Penny, while discussing the problems he found. After discussing what needed to be treated, he gave us a cost breakdown. I've never seen a Vet take so much time, he clearly loves animals, I now wish my on doctor would treat me the way Dr Hale treated Penny. I had to come to San Antonio in an emergency situation and although I had no prior reservation, this place accepted Harli at the last minute, AND went out of their way to ensure my little spoiled chihuahua was comfortable AND eating well. Harli isn't used to being away from her Mommy and Daddy, and I truly appreciate them taking the time to try to solve Harli's anxiety WITHOUT RESORTING TO DRUGS! This means the world to me. I am going to have to bury my youngest son (only 34 years old!), which is why I had to come to San Antonio. Thank you for making this as easy as possible for me. They are very friendly and kind! And troop never came back feeling scared and always was in good spirits. However my consent is VERY important to me regarding my dogs health. When I confirmed the apt. I told them there was two vaccines I did not want. Then when I called to confirm apt the day of, I reminded them AGAIN. When I dropped him off I mentioned it again, AND wrote on his vaccine note in two places that I didn't feel comfortably with this vaccine. She then called me and told me all the vaccines he was given and one of the vaccines I mentioned before that I didn't want THEY gave to him. I was so disappointed and couldn't believe that after doing my part to communicate they gave him it anyways. I unfortunately will be finding a new vet to go to. read more

Had used this vet over many years. Recently, our cat became more aggressive and although declawed in the front, he bites, including taking out his hostility on our other cat. We thought they could recommend something to calm him down. They don't allow you to come inside, so had to drop the cat in a carrier and they took him inside. I explained to the staff person that he needed a rabies shot as well and whatever else might be necessary to bring him current. Within a short period of time, they called on my phone and the vet said there was nothing they could do but refer him to a "behavioral" vet. We were very disappointed in the outcome of this visit. They wanted us to install "calming" diffusers and keep other cats away from our home ... good luck with that!!! Obviously, they've taken a much different approach (like holistic or something??) than we experienced in the past. And, they didn't even give him a rabies shot ... charged us $55 for the "exam" which we're not sure what was done since we were not allowed inside. Consequently, this visit was unacceptable and we will not be returning. Very unfortunate. read more

This clinic is a solid 30 minute drive from my house in the medical center, but the vets and clinic were highly recommended by a friend with an English bulldog. I wanted nothing but the best for my new puppy and decided to give them a try. I'm so glad I did! The facility is clean and orderly. I was greeted promptly and the lady behind the counter, seeing that I was holding my scared puppy in my arms, filled out my paperwork for me so I didn't have to put him down! She just asked me all the questions and filled in the forms for me. I had one of the first appointments of the day and didn't wait long to be seen (2-3 minutes post paperwork). Dr. Ray is great. H really took the time to earn Benson's (my dog) trust before he started poking and prodding. He looked through all of the paperwork I had received from Animal Care Services (I adopted Benson who had been brought in as a stray) and ensured he knew his history before making suggestions on what he may need in the future. Being a new puppy parent, I had a lot of questions (8 that I had actually written down so I wouldn't forget and several more came to mind while I was there with the doctor). Dr. Ray never rushed me and took the time to reference some materials and make copies of some of them for me so that I could read through all the details myself. He took each of my concerns/questions seriously and did a great job explaining the answers in layman's terms. I walked away with a lot of new knowledge and knowing that I had found a vet and clinic that would love Benson just as much as I do. Absolutely amazing doctors and staff! From the very start of booking the appointment to the multiple phone calls to insure they were making progress with my dogs visit, Dr. Leland and the entire staff was amazing! Former practices made it feel like my dog was just another patient with not a lot of urgency to help, this was the complete opposite, you can tell they love each and every animal that walks through those door and want to make sure they get the best care then can give!
