I was a walk-in at around 1:30 and they had me in a chair within five minutes, not bad at all! The owner and Barbi, the woman who did my hair, were absolute sweethearts! They mad me feel very welcome. Barbi is not only super friendly but an excellent hair stylist as well!! I had attempted to go to another salon a few months prior who butchered the bangs I wanted :( Barbi did the bangs with perfect precision. I can tell she has an eye for detail. The price isn't too bad but it is a little pricy. However with the care that these women put into their work, I don't mind paying a little extra. I'll definitely be coming back!

So imagine my surprise when I paid $18 for an excellent haircut at Jordan-Bailey here in Conway, Ar. The salon is located in a little cluster of shops off Prince Street and one could pass it by if one wasn't being driven by their son who lives in town. My appointment was with April, who came highly recommended by my son and his roommates. She was probably the most personable, genuine person I've met on my travels to date. Very knowledgeable about hair and hair products I might add. She suggested keeping the length of my hair but still took off enough so I felt like I had a haircut and not a 'trim'. April has been doing this for six years and enjoys what she's doing which, in my opinion,enhances the chances of getting a cut you like. I know I did. It's funny, I could see her living in S.F. or L.A. and fitting right in. She is quite humble too as it was difficult to tip her back something for her artistic efforts! The owner, Greg Nobles has been in this location for three years but has been in the business since 1997. He, like the staff, is very personable and knows his clientele well. I enjoyed chatting with him. I highly recommend anyone wanting a pleasurable hair experience to come here and be pampered a bit!

This year I asked her what she wanted and she said, "a gift card to my salon". I don't know how these ladies did it but Mom (who isn't the easiest to win over) has come to look forward to visiting them and, yes - getting her nails done. :)

Not only do I have curly hair and love my curls, but I also love my outdoorsy, wash-and-go lifestyle, something that amazingly few stylists understand. Most want to throw so many products at my head (that I get scared I'll burst into flames when I sit in the sun by a window) seemingly to disguise the fact that they really don't know how cut curls without making me look like a dirty, matted shih tzu (minus the zu part). So, back to Anna. She not only listened to me while I explained what I wanted and how much time and energy I put into my hair, but she heard me. We discussed different styles and why some might not be great for me, and then she helped me with some styling tips that fit right in with the wash-and-go life. The facility boasts funky, eclectic decor and is located in a rapidly growing and fun part of town! Parking is mostly street side, but I've never had an issue finding a spot close (even with my poor parallel parking skills!).
