NO WiFi. Very poor "customer service" right off the bat. No…read moreeye contact, no welcome, no smile. Robotic questions and answers with a complete lack of personality. Makes you feel quite unwelcome from the very start. Calling patients back, they open the door, standing completely out of sight and scream out your name. Again, either a complete lack of training in customer service or they just don't care. Arrived and checked in at 1:10 pm Called back at 1:53 pm for vitals and moved to a new waiting area. Same very poor customer service or lack thereof. Called to x-ray at 2 pm Back to another waiting area. 2:06 pm back to x-ray to reshoot one of the x-ray views. To exam room at 2:11 pm Seen by Nurse Practitioner at 2:39 pm Waiting in exam room for copy of c-rats until 2:55 Went to front desk as instructed to receive final discharge summary paperwork. Again, receptionist was incredibly rude. Tried to tell me to sit down and wait and she'd "get to it". That was the last straw. She absolutely LIED and told me that "He" (the Nurse Practitioner) was still in my chart, and I'd have to wait because she couldn't help me. I told her that my Nurse Practitioner was FEMALE and had been finished with me more than 30 minutes ago and was NOT in my chart. You could see it on her face. She knew she had been caught lying! So then she nods toward the other girl and said "She'll help you" and ignored me from that point on. The other young lady asked my name and birthdate, pulled up my record and hit print. It took like 30 seconds. That further confirms to me that the initial young lady was indeed lying to me and purposefully trying to inconvenience patients. *** I wish I could separate the ratings because despite the overall very negative experience with the majority of the medical assistant staff, there were two staff members who were outstanding. The MA who did my x-rays was kind, friendly and very pleasant. And also the Nurse Practitioner, KAYLA ALFORD, CRNP was professional, courteous and very accommodating. They were the only bright spots in an otherwise dismal experience.

My office experience was poor. I took my ill mother in, because they insisted she had to be seen…read morebefore they ordered Hospice for her. After taking her in the 3 Nurse Practitioners saw her, couldn't tell us anything about why she was not improving after taking antibiotics for 6 days; one was supposed to call RMC for a direct admission. That call was never made; instead they call DHR because they thought I was abusing and neglecting my poor mother. The bottom line is ask who is the doctor in charge before you get talked down or treated like a criminal by one of the young Nurse Practitioners.

However! The doctors, PA's, nurses and staff are worth it!!! Dr. Gaines called me on his day off to ask me how I was doing! Dr. Snead came into my room, after I had already seen the PA, on my first appointment to introduce himself and welcome me to the area. (My family just moved here from Augusta, GA). Almost every time (because sometimes they are extremely busy) I call up to the Anniston or Oxford office I get a friendly voice who answers and my question answered or a call back within a timely manner with said question answered. You need to understand CARES clinics are busy for a reason... I will wait because I do not want to go anywhere else. I have the best doctors and PA's here!!

I was the second person through the door of Anniston Cares at 7:30. I was expecting a Covid test in the back even though I had a negative home test last night. After 30 minutes they swabbed me and said they would call. After 45 minutes I tried to call them. No answer. I walked around to the front and asked if they had forgotten me. She said I couldn't be in the building unless they had negative test results. Back to the car. I asked a passing swabber what was going on that I had waited an hour and a half. She replied that they should have told me to go home and someone would call me. Still waiting. Why is it that I can go anywhere I want without a mask except their office? Why does it take over an hour to get Covid test result---- make that almost 2 and a half now. Why won't they accept my home test result from 8 hours earlier? I have been going to Cares for over 30 years, but I will be looking for a new doctor.
