Stay away from Dr. Cater is not the doctor you need to visit if you want consistent medical/listen…read moreto your concerns for care. I went to see him to get my medication renewed but he/nurse did not renew all my medication, and especially the one I take for gout, which I told his nurse and him I was out of And now, surprise they are closed on Friday, so don't get sick on Friday and I'm out of my medication. He also gets frustrated whenever you take too much of his time talking to him especially if you only go once per year. He has act turned out to be a very big disappointment, now he has signs posted rules and regulations (dos and don't) all over the off office that it takes two weeks to get prescriptions refilled. I hope this review helps since this was our latest experience with Dr. Robert Cater. We will be looking for a primary care doctor. Shannon C.

I removed my entire family from the practice for lack of professionalism…read more Doctor Cater is a wonderful doctor. However, the staff that he has hired is completely unprofessional including the front desk. The issue has occurred on several occasions with multiple appointments. I attempted to professionally voice my concerns to the office manager and the office manager, Brooke stated that she was not going to listen to me complain and proceeded to disconnect the call. I never raised my tone to the staff, nor became abusive in speech. However, I was disappointed that I was disregarded while voicing my concerns. My expectation was to be heard out so that the proper conversation could be had with the lowering staff. I moved to Alabama in 2020 and came across Dr. Cater's office by search of several reviews for local offices. I did notice not so good reviews, however wanted to give the office my own judgement based on my own experience. I have had two wellness visits upon being a patient with Dr. Cater. The first wellness visit, even though I have had insurance, I was billed for. I called my insurance to later find out that the wrong code had been submitted in the system, resulting in me being billed. I had to speak with the billing staff and my insurance company several times to get it corrected. I voiced my concern that there was no reason for me to be receiving a bill. If you are familiar with billing and coding, you cannot be a digit off, or it will be billed incorrectly. Countless phone calls, and finally able to get it corrected. The year later, second occasion, and a routine wellness visit. The day before my appointment, I received a phone call from the office front desk and spoke with (lady who refused to provide her name when I later asked to submit this review) she confirmed my appointment with me. By her, I was ironically asked if I was getting a cholesterol test completed, which I stated no to. We ended the call with what I thought was a mutual understanding that it was a regular routine wellness visit. Went to my appointment as scheduled. And received a bill yet again after the visit. I inquired about the bill to the office, and somehow I got billed for a cholesterol test that I never authorized. I called the billing office at Dr. Cater's, and my insurance company as well. I made the complaint the moment I got the bill to the office, and the issue was not resolved. I called again just a few months later due to the issue never being fixed. Spoke with Brooke again. In that call, I was told by Brooke to call the company who processed the labs to get the billing reference number. I refused to do so as that is the billing office job due to them sending the bill out incorrectly. Instead I called my insurance company was/is an awesome advocate. I also refused as that had been the second occurrence of being billed incorrectly. After speaking with both parties, the bill was getting corrected and rebilled. The billing manager later called me back from Dr. Cater's office to notify me that it was resubmitted. I attempted to express the issue there in that call of this being more than one occurrence, she rushed me off the phone once I mentioned leaving a review possibly if it isn't corrected. I did not have the time at that moment to fight to be heard in that moment. I ended up calling back because that is a serious issue regarding billing and coding. I called back to speak with the billing manager, Brooke, at Dr. Cater's office. The goal was to come to a resolution requesting that a conversation be had with the lowering staff that billing and coding be done correctly, but somehow Brooke decided to disregard me after only a few minutes into our talk. I was asked by Brooke, "What would you like for me or us to do about it?" I attempted to explain that there was nothing that could be done being that the bill is being resent for coding, except as a request that the staff be spoken to. To discuss the importance of correct coding and billing as professionals. I was not able to fully speak the full resolution before I was disregarded again. This time Brooke disconnected the call after I pushed to be heard and not disregarded as before. Respectfully I attempted to continue the call but Brooke refused and hung up. The issue is that I should not have to continue going down the same road and the same exact issue for every scheduled routine wellness visit. I would not be leaving a review and would be concerned about the reputation of the company had there been any kind of empathy on the staff's part. I received no apology or empathy for my time or valid concerns as a patient. Both me and my husband will be moving to another practice after this is all settled. Take aways: * Inquire about billing before the appointment and make sure staff are HIGHLY aware of why you are visiting their office. * Your insurance will advocate for you when it comes to their billing office. * Don't be afraid to ask questions prior to visit.
