Leaving this review for other parents whose child is being sent here. My child was treated well by staff and did not witness staff mistreating others. Food wasn't good according to my child. My biggest concern was lack of communication. We never had a meeting with anyone and only spoke with a nurse a couple of times and the social worker once. Kids are allowed to call anytime from 9-9 which was nice. You can't call and speak to the nurse except from 12-2. Apparently how often your child gets seen by the doctor or NP is determined by your insurance. Depending who you speak to you'll get different answers on things like can you bring snacks or a stuffed animal for your child. We got there to pick my child up and it was literally 2 hours before my child was brought out even though we were told what time to arrive. Facility seemed clean and visitation is once a week for an hour on Sunday. read more

This is the last place you want to send your child.After trying to kill himself by taking pills he was kept for 7 days medication changed and released.They only stabilize and release.They also supposedly have clothes if your child doesn't have any.I I could have brought my child some clothes but was assured that they had plenty of clothes there that were available for him. So believing them I didn't take him any clothes and when I picked him up his clothes reaped of seven day one close. All they do is sit around all day in a day room watching whatever program did children that are in charge want to watch. They do however get to go outside and play basketball sometimes while the employees are vaping or smoking cigarettes or visiting or whatever. Counseling is done in a group setting. They speak to your child alone maybe once or twice. Whatever psychiatrist is on duty does call you and ask you about changing the medication before they do it. And of course you answer thinking that they're counseling him and monitoring him finding out his history only to find out that no one is talking to him. I also seen from his lab work that they were checking his thyroid which I in my opinion don't think has anything to do with his mental health. He's been there twice. I didn't want him to go there the second time but they said that was the only bed available. In all the mental health care here in the state of Louisiana isn't the greatest. But by far Longleaf hospital by far is not where you want to have your child place to get the help they need. They don't even deserve a star but you have to give one in order to leave your review. One night the night staff decided they didn't want to check up with me every 5 mins like they needed to since I was on a 72 hour watch for attempted suicide and they decided to cut my beeper off of my leg and keep it in their pocket so they don't have to get up and scan it. Also the hospital charged for a "vaccine" that I never got. Fights breaking out every night and the staff let it happen. Some staff even bullied another staff member who was having mental health issues of his own. Girls running around with each other having sex despite age barriers. And most girls there were there as a ward of the state and didn't suffer from mental issues so people who were trying to recover were being surrounded by drug addicts who ran the place. I didn't feel safe there or even taken care of. When I got there for "registration" it was the middle of the night and they left me alone in a bright room with no blankets or even a pillow all I had was the clothes on my back which were shorts and a shirt and some crocs. When I got into the hospital they didn't give me a pillow so what I had to do was take my blanket and put it in the pillowcase they gave me. The "doctors" there forced medications on the kids for insurance purposes and if you didn't want to take it they would give you a shot full of tranquilizers for "refusing our meds". If anything I came out worse than going in. The only shining light there was a man named Daniel who was on the staff. He was full of sunshine and actually cared. But everyone else was rude as if having to do their JOB was an inconvenience to them. One night a staff member brought in a can of Red Bull and just threw it in our trash and a girl found it busted it open and was giving the metal out so girls could self harm. I had a fresh piercing and one of the nurses put a comb tooth in it and it got really infected and I got really sick when I got out. Most girls fake "getting better" just so that they can leave because honestly faking it is better than speaking up because if you speak up you feel trapped and targeted by the staff. The staff refused to go through the stuff in my suitcase because they just didn't want to so I was stuck in the same clothes for a solid 3 days. They stole my shoes and credit cards. scary place. They are making money hand over fist but don't pay enough to hire competent help. When will America get it that these so called christian groups are raping Medicare and Medicaid? There were a couple of people there that were understanding, but over-all it's a bad place. Stealing a pair of $70 white Sketchers because they CAN?!? I just don't trust the so called medical facilities anymore. They don't help people. Seriously... they ought to drug test the people that work in Longleaf. Depression is everywhere, everyone goes through it at some point. That's life. Getting shoes and credit card stolen is low. this place ruined me. i was in the teen girls unit. i witnessed people get jumped and the techs let it happen. A girl passed out and one of the techs caused a scene and yelled at another girl for asking her for help. The techs are only their for the pay they dont give a damn about the kids well being except one named Ash. They put in the effort to listen and hear out the kids problems while all the other tecgs were full of it. Mr. Cecil is a horrible tech or whatever he is. The kids were rude and half the kids in there were there for fighting. It was like a fight club. this place needs to be SHUT DOWN! The techs curse at the kids and the kids do it back. The nurse practitioners and any other staff not on the unit are unaware of this. The care was half ass. This place didnt help me get better but made me realize that not all hospitals are meant for care. i felt jailed. Shut this place down. And give these people their lives back. read more

This is a horrible place! I have been here a few times and this last experience really put a number on me. For starters I was denied water (there was a boil water advisory and couldn't drink from the fountain) and the tech said "I don't do that on my shift". I also was pleading for them to help me and call the doctor because I was detoxing bad and they refused and just didn't care and let me suffer. They did that twice when they dropped my gabapentin from 800mg to 300mg and I was violently ill. They refused to help me and were cold and heartless. The experience there was beyond traumatizing and I WILL speak up about it everywhere and let people know that this isn't the place to detox. I am so fucking angry at how I was treated and all they care about is the veterans now and everyone else is less than human. I hope one day this place gets shut down. I am not from Louisiana but my son was working in the area and needed help. I brought him here based on information on their website and based on a recommendation from a local family that had used Longleaf years and years ago; well times sure do change. I should have read the reviews. PLEASE DO NOT BRING YOUR LOVED ONE HERE, THEY WILL GET NO HELP. My son was treated poorly by hospital staff, over medicated and stuck in a barren room with only TV, given no "program" to assist during detox, was not appropriately clinically assessed, given contraindicated medication for his condition, and fed dinners consisting of 2 apples and a banana for dinner because he's a pescatarian. When he complained about the food and contacted me because he was extremely hungry, staff confronted him about asking me for help and doubled-down on the mistreatment. Clearly no one in the county or state is overseeing this facility. This is UNACCEPTABLE for a facility that advertises and gets compensated for treating people who need help. read more

A family member was recently in this facility and it was a horrible experience for her. She had been needing help mentally. She was very depressed, secluding herself, living in filth due to her depression and sleeping all day. A lot of this stemmed from her physical condition causing embarrassment , poor self esteem and discomfort continuously to her skin. She is presently being treated for her condition by a physician in New Orleans She finally realized she needed help and signed herself in. Well once the admission process was completed, it went downhill from there. Some of the nurses were rude, as well as the tech. She visited with her doctor only by Zoom. He was not physically available to her and he had no empathy. She had physical problems that had been treated since she was very young including many food allergies. Despite the conversations with several health care providers and notations made, in regards to food allergies she was brought trays that contained milk products and eggs and the staff questioned the validity of the conditions. The decision had already been made by the admit nurse and her mother that the factory sealed food containers would be brought for the patient to eat. They denied her use of her Nebulizer machine the first night. She was not given her medications that she took at home for her physical condition. I think she saw a social worker only once and no therapist visits I think by now you know the reason I am putting a horrible review. In this field a person who is employed there should have empathy and want to help the patients to overcome their problem. Like everything the good employees have to pay for the bad. She had contact with the admitting nurse and the admitting nurse was very kind and compassionate. Had problems communicating with staff because they would not answer the phone. When they did decide to speak to you they were rude As a result she signed herself out after 72 hours. This is very unfortunate because she really wants help to better herself read more

I'm an active duty soldier and came here for suicidal ideations and this hospital did little to nothing to get me any help. They are more concerned with how much tri care is going to pay them for how long I'm here. The staff was way more helpful than the doctor that I had. The doctor I had was rude and not understanding and just a total jerk when I asked any question about me getting out. They treat active duty different than veterans such as giving veterans during holidays better meals and they get their phones on Friday! I asked why this was and the rude ass nurse said it's because we are active duty so we don't get the same treatment. I was really upset about getting help for my mental health, all they had was group therapy and half the times the patients had to host it by showing us a video on YouTube about alcoholism and drug addiction. Wonderful hospital. They treat adults in four units. Each unit serves different patient populations. One is substance abuse. Another is called FLAGS with military patients (veterans primarily) treating PTSD, substance abuse and co-occurring disorders. The other two units are higher acuity and lower acuity. Hospital has caring doctors, nurses, social workers and staff. Hospital is clean, looks newer and is nice. Great groups daily to help patients get better. Also wonderful outpatient (IOP) program. read more
