When people say "food trip in Quezon City," they'd automatically think Maginhawa. But there's actually a cheaper and smaller version inside UP-Diliman (practically a tumbling away) which is JP Laurel Street - or known to most UP students as Area 2. The 250-meter strip offers what most broke college kids (or done-with-college-but-still-broke kids) need: a place to stay, clean clothes, and unlimited rice.
Longga Republic can account for the unlimited rice part. It is a sidewalk diner along JPL Street near the famous snack shack. It's not the fanciest of places, of course
PROS: Cheap food. P70.00 for around three to six (depending on the size) pieces of longganisa, a fried egg, and as much rice as you can stuff yourself with; Different types of longganisa. They have Tuguegaroa and Vigan and Calumpit and Cebu and all the other kinds. They have so kindly described each on their tarpaulin menu; The vinegar goes nicely with their food.
CONS: Limited space, of course; Need a little help in the sanitation department; A fifteen-minute wait for them to prepare your food.
TL;DR: For when one rice is not enough but you can't possibly exceed P100.00, Longga Republic is a good choice. read more
