I saw some reviews about the sandwiches and came in to check it out bc I was craving chicken salad. Boom! It's unassuming but, the staff inside were two very friendly and kind guys working the counter and deli bar who took our order and made us some huge and delicious sandwiches. I had a chicken salad wrap on spinach with lettuce, tomato, and onion and my husband went with their signature roasted turkey and bacon club. His was HUGE and my wrap was delicious with fresh and yummy chicken salad. Our toddler had a good time roaming the aisles and we had a quiet, easy lunch with her. Great spot. Hidden gem I think.

I happened into this Lil' Mart formerly known as Lampron's Exxon. Unfortunately Lampron's no…read morelonger exists on the scale it once did in southern Maine because of an out-of-state hostile takeover. But really, nothing has changed. It's really busy and the staff seems very overworked and underpaid. I purchased a bag of chips that were really stale. Outside you can buy ice and firewood as well as K-1. The pumps can be slow to release fuel if you are in a hurry to zip up the coast during the summer. The offerings inside are standard for most convenience stores. IMHO, the coffee has burnt taste and seems to have been sitting around for awhile. Avoid this chain and turn right going south down route 1 to Waldo's Citgo which has excellent, freshly prepared deli salads and sandwiches. You will have a much more pleasant experience here even if it is a tad out of the way.

Similar to the Cumberland Farm's on Washington Ave, I have never been inside the Rusty Lantern Market. I have no idea what the staff is like or if the store itself is clean. I just come here for gas and to put air in my tires. It's a good spot because it's tucked just slightly off two very busy roads (yet it's always pretty seamless getting in and out of this parking lot, which by the way is enormous!). I never seem to have to wait for a gas pump! Negative though? The trash can by the air pump is usually overflowing (and there is litter *all over* the ground; kind of icky!).

They both use the same bread and both have the same soggy issue with their subs if you dont consume them within minutes.
