They offer a variety of dance programs...and the year ending recital, held at the Patchogue Theater, is very well produced. The classes here tend to be smaller in size compared to the ones over at their other studio in St James. I can only guess, that is due to the greater number of dance schools in the Smithtown area. There are two class rooms, both with one directional glass, so parents can peek in and watch their children without being a distraction. The waiting area is not particularly large and can get a bit crowded, especially around the time classes end and another is about to begin. Another nicety of this location is it's proximity to several food establishments. There is a deli, pizza, chinese food. Quite often my wife will pick up a pizza for dinner on her way back there.

I expected my daughter to get the professional attention she deserves. However, the teachers worked with students that have been there for a long time. Over all the ballet techniques are not up to par. The recitals are on Memorial Day Weekend which is not cool. The parking is horrific. If you decide to park on Lake Ave be very careful as there are many blind spots. There floors are not good for jumps or leaps and can hurt the kids. She has since joined a new Studio where she was welcome with opened arms. The teachers are incredible with taking the time to actually teach a new student and the other students were excited to help. We definitely procrastinated as we waited till 3 weeks before our wedding to set up lessons, however that did not seem to be an issue for the people at the Ballroom of Huntington. They heard about our time constraint and immediately worked with us to get us into the studio as soon as possible. They are open late which is beneficial for our schedule. We were paired with Dennis who is an angel of a human being. He is a great teacher and was able to create choreography for our first dance and make it unique. He was very accommodating and even came in on a Sunday when the studio is closed to get us an additional lesson. By the end of our 4th lesson, we were ready to perform at our wedding and we only wish Dennis was there to witness it as I know he would have been very proud of us. The studio itself is a large space, however everyone practices in the same space regardless of if you are there for a group lesson or private lesson. It didn't make much of a difference to me and it provided us with a little audience. They have a great speaker system so they can play whatever song you want for your dance. The cost was on the higher end for what I expected, but I don't know what the cost of private lessons normally runs. Ultimately, we are very happy with our decision to use Ballroom of Huntington to learn our first dance.

Lisa is so high energy, and has such a great way of making you feel both comfortable and also excited to dance. (There are plenty of dance teachers out there who are not.) This dance stuff is not easy to learn, particularly for guys who have the added burden of having to learn how to lead. Lisa has an uncanny knack for recognizing and correcting missteps and breaking things down to their basic elements in easy to understand terms. When I told the owner it is hard to find a babysitter at 9pm on Friday night he said "No i don't know that." While sympathetic it showed this is not a place reliable enough to make plans for a family person and then when I asked for a refund it has become a battle to get my full refund. I didn't learn anything, but I will not blame the instructor Victor as he seemed dedicated to a resolution, the other owner in my opinion is very unprofessional.
