Our experience with Steadman Tax Services was extremely disappointing…read more We dealt with poor communication, multiple handoffs on our account, inaccurate bookkeeping, and a defensive response when we tried to get answers. We were told monthly bookkeeping emails and financial summaries were being sent, but we did not receive them on our end, including in spam. Their explanation was that the emails showed as sent or delivered on their side, but that does not change the fact that we did not receive them on ours   There was also no consistency in who was handling our account. Within about a year of working with Steadman Tax Services, the bookkeepers assigned to us changed multiple times. We started with Sam, who left abruptly and shortly after we became clients. After that, we were moved to Alyssa, then Daniella, and later Keri this January, with no communication about those transitions. That constant turnover made the process frustrating and made it hard to feel like anyone had a full understanding of our books or the history of our account. The bookkeeping issues were even more concerning. Our 2025 P&L showed many American Express charges categorized as Thumbtack advertising, even though we did not use Thumbtack at all in 2025. That significantly distorted our marketing expenses. We also found other miscategorized expenses, including business subscriptions being placed under office supplies instead of a more appropriate category. We had also already provided information about a cargo van purchase, yet it still was not properly recorded as an asset months after the purchase. When we reviewed the QB audit history, we also found long gaps with little to no bookkeeping activity, including stretches of roughly 29 days, 81 days, 49 days, 35 days, and 27 days with only minimal or administrative changes. That matters because this was supposed to be an ongoing monthly bookkeeping services that we pay for.  The audit log did not reflect the kind of steady monthly review, cleanup, and follow-through we were paying for. Instead, it looked like work was being done in batches with long periods of inactivity in between, which helps explain why issues sat unresolved and why so many things were only caught much later. To make matters worse, we had repeatedly clarified that my wife does not work and has no separate income, but that continued to resurface as if it had never been communicated. That showed a lack of attention to detail and poor account management. What was most frustrating was how the firm responded once we raised these concerns. We were not rude or hostile. We brought up specific issues, pointed to documentation, and tried to get clarity on what had gone wrong and how it would be fixed. Instead of taking accountability and working toward a solution, the response felt defensive, dismissive, and focused on shifting blame back onto us. Rather than treating our concerns as legitimate, it felt like we were being talked around and told, in effect, that the problems were ours for not catching them sooner. Then, after we followed up in writing to document those concerns and ask for a resolution, they chose to disengage immediately instead of addressing the issues professionally. That made the entire experience feel even more disappointing and unprofessional. We were not asking for anything unreasonable. We wanted accurate books, clear communication, consistency, and accountability. Based on our experience, we would not recommend this firm.

Do not have Jessica Warden work for you. She promised to get me in front of a judge 1 year…read moreago, which is why I retained her in the first place and she did not carry out her promise. She is full of excuses and for the year I had her on retainer all she was talking about was money all the time. We had a payment plan and when I was $300 away from paying her off of the $5000, she threatened to walk away from my case. Are you kidding me ? We discussed later on ,that She would prep me for the custody hearing so that I would not have to pay anything else and she billed me an extra $3000 for doing absolutely nothing right after she told me my remaining bill was $500. Take that for what you will. She did not follow through with what She agreed to do. I live in Los Angeles and obviously she is in Austin and I trusted her. Even a simple question that I would email to her would be responded with " well that's a loaded question. " my case has been complicated, but all I needed to do in Travis County was to get in front of a judge, and even now she refuses to file simple documents, which includes registering my case and enforcing the court orders from California. Travis County has been a complete shit show. And what promised to be something simple ,ultimately became impossible for this woman to do .One year later she has my $5000 and I am no further along than what I was at the time that I retained her. she gave me false hope and manipulated me with promises She did not keep. She will come back on here and probably try and shoot this review down and try to justify her actions, but ultimately when you say you're gonna do something and you get paid for it, then do it .Do not hire this attorney. I emailed many court documents to her for this hearing, and she has not even mentioned where they are and why they cannot be filed to my case. All her explanations do not make sense. I am literally no further along than one year ago and if you have to charge someone $5000 to be at this point in a case then why are you even practicing law . she even tried taking credit for a hearing that the mother was attempting to terminate my parental rights, when we literally walked in the court, and the first thing that came out of the judge's mouth was, she was not going to approve the mothers application. I was on Zoom and I recorded everything on audio just for something to refer back to. Jessica claims she won the hearing while she was sitting at home on her laptop and hardly even spoke in the hearing, I know a lot of family law attorneys are narcissists, but this is ridiculous. had she said in the beginning that she could not get me in front of a judge for a $5000 retainer then I would not have hired her in the first place. I'm furthermore there is absolutely no evidence that she has even put a case together for me because now she is ignoring the fact that I need to be in front of a judge . Where are all these emails that I sent with the Los Angeles Court documents??? and why are they not prepared into a file that can be put into my new case in Travis County??? This is something that a Paralegal could quite easily do , but I paid Jessica to do it. It should be no big deal for an attorney to file a hearing in court. This is what I am pissed off about. She has now signed off on the case conveniently before She was trying to sign off, which has taken three months to do waiting for the judges signature .I will probably be filing a complaint to the Texas State bar if she does not complete what she said she was going to do. she is a very below average attorney that thinks that she is a lot better than she actually is my friend who is a paralegal in a high profile. Los Angeles law firm looked over the billing and laughed at it. It was sloppy just like her work. All I'm saying is where is the case that you prepared for the $5000 I paid you. You are ghosting me right now and not addressing this I feel as if I have been scammed.
