This was my first tattoo. I got this in August 2023. I give the tattoo a 4.8 out of 5, Details of my first experience are below: I found Lacie Bengtson and the Lone Sparrow tattoo shop through my Instagram search for a tattoo artist. I've always wanted a tattoo but told myself to wait until I was in my 30s. I messaged Lacie through Instagram and sent her an example of what I was looking for. She directed me to sign up on her waiting list and would go through all her requests once she reopened her books. Lacie said the wait time could be anywhere from 3-6 months. So, I signed up for the waiting list. For the next three months, I would periodically see Lacie post availability on Instagram. This was a little confusing because I hadn't been contacted from the waiting list. Finally, I decided to message her about one of her availability posts because I was still #79 on the waiting list. Lacie told me to text her and we discussed what I was looking for. She said this piece would be $700-$900. I have no reference if this was fair pricing, cheap or expensive because this was my first tattoo. She required a $100 non-refundable deposit to book her, which I was happy to do. She said this would probably take 3 hours to do. I emailed her the art example I was looking for my tattoo. She said the final design/sketch would be sent to me the night before my tattoo session. I wasn't prepared for this, and it gave me anxiety because I wouldn't know what my final tattoo design would look like until the night before. I asked if she could send it sooner than the night before and she said "Unfortunately, I can't because I work on other clients pieces" Lacie texted me the first mock-up of the tattoo design around 9:30pm the night before. I asked her to tweak the design 3 times over the course of 15-30 minutes via text. I was excited about the final version. She also helped answer a few of my "newbie" tattoo questions, which was helpful. Day Of: I was impressed by the place, having never stepped foot in a tattoo shop before. The business looked very professional and very clean. Lacie was nice and professional. She printed three different-sized examples of the tattoo for my thigh, which was helpful to choose. There were about 15 minutes of prep (paperwork, shaving, set up, etc) and about 45 minutes of actual tattoo work. Lacie worked fast as if she could do this in her sleep. Afterward, she asked me what she quoted me. I told her $700-$900. She said it will be $900. I was surprised by this because she said this would probably take 3 hours, and I was only there about an hour. It's my understanding you're expected to tip your tattoo artists, so I tipped her 20% because she did a great job. She gave me a helpful aftercare instruction sheet and answered all my questions. After: The tattoo healing went fine, and I followed all the instructions. Afterward, I had a couple of healing questions, to which Lacie responded via text. Obviously this will be a saga of sorts I'm not going to ask for camera footage because what's done is done. Watching what goes on in your business for security reasons is normal and legal. What isn't it listening in on private conversation without consent of all parties. You know how many people who are former clients of yours came to me with horror stories of you? Personally and professionally? Embarrassing. Stopping work to argue with your gf in the middle of a piece. Gouging people out of their money. Cancelling at the last minute and expecting more money from them. I could go on. And the fact that you're trying to say my own mom apologized on my behalf is hilarious. We all continued to talk about how condescending you were and unprofessional with your whole attitude and demeanor. Take a business class or two. Go to therapy. Learn how to control your emotions and your face. You really like to distort facts that's all I know have fun losing your business unless you change your attitude read more

I could not recommend Kimi or Lacie less. Kimi tattooed me once before and I brought 3 more people to her today. She said the arrow on my tattoo needed to be shaded in, I drew it on the example on paper, and we agreed and moved forward with it. Afterwards, she told me she shaded in the bow as well. We had never agreed on that verbally or on the drawing, I was very caught off guard. I later texted to communicate this and make sure we were on the same page moving forward. I was immediately gaslit, told it would had blended together with time anyway, and told she checked video and talked with the owner (who is literally her wife) and I'm wrong. I have 3 witnesses who saw this happen and Lacie refused to show the video or audio to support her claim. Additionally, my friend who came to get her first ever tattoo got hers done by Kimi today as well. After completing her tattoo, Kimi told her that she made the lines thicker so it lasts longer. She never confirmed that with my friend either. When contacting the owner as Kimi asked, I was told I clearly didn't even know what I wanted with the tattoo and asked for the stencil to be replaced 5 times (I asked for it to be adjusted 3 times) and should have not even gotten the tattoo. What? It was seriously the most horrible and mean experience I've ever had with a tattoo artist. There was zero empathy or accountability for Kimi making changes to something permanently on my body without my consent. My first tattoo experience with her she was kind and told me to move the stencil as much as I needed because it's permanent and my body! This time she was totally different. I regret giving her my business, bringing her 3 other people, and paying her over $700 for 3 hours of work for her to not care that she made unapproved changes to something permanently on my body. I had two appointments scheduled with Lacie. Both appointments she cancelled on the day of, roughly 4 hours before I needed to leave my house. I had taken off work to accommodate both appointments and her last minute cancellations made it so I was unable to work again that day. On the second cancellation, she was texting me early in the morning trying to change my time. I was trying to be flexible and accommodate, but I live an hour and half away and was getting a ride. Right as I had finished making arrangements to the new time an hour later, she texted cancelling again. She thankfully returned my deposit money, as I was not comfortable booking with someone so unreliable, but all the back and forth and rescheduling led to work challenges and having to delay getting my memorial piece until after a scheduled trip where showing it off was very important. I understand things come up but the reviews lead me to believe this is a reoccurring problem. Used to recommend this place, but can't say that's the case anymore. Just know that when booking with Lacie it's a gamble. She did a great piece for me in 2021, but the scheduling issues are not worth the time. Also important to note, I did have one appointment that I cancelled in February, but that was done with 16 days notice. Very different than day of. Lacie claimed on another platform that I was haggling. I wasn't negotiating price, just asking clarifying questions or the deposit policy and brainstorming ways to simplify the design to be more in budget. I appreciate the work Lacie did to work within that. Although I emphasize with the situation my financial loss and my family are also important to me and doesn't negate a poor experience overall. Sad it didn't work out, but ultimately I need to be honest and if my review saves a few other people the headache than it's worth it. read more

A couple of facts matter here, actually. Yes, I called and was told about your event. No worries, I even relayed that I was interested in setting up an appointment, not expected that day anyway. I was also told to go online, pick a favored artist based on posted art and text that artist. I did. I didnt expect an immediate response, this is an incorrect assumption on your behalf, and you know what they say about assumptions. At no time was I told 24 to 48 response time, so if you normally tell people this, you did not this time. Why bother to tell someone to pick an artist of their preference if that artist already knows they are booked out 2 to 3 months and can't do the work. Just say that up front. A little CLEAR communication goes a LONG way. You did text back, more than 24 hours and I didn't respond immediately as it was after 9 pm and I get up at 4 am for work. Your potential customers also have lives as well. Also, if you know I was looking for availability, why ask me to reach out to you a 4th time to see what your availability is, I was already trying to determine that from the outset. This really has nothing to do with entitlement, it is just the basic tenets of customer service and communication. I have no doubt you all do good work or I wouldn't have reached out in the first place. It seems communication and customer service is a deficit, which seems to be reflected in some of your reviews. I chose to overlook those dings and had you handled things a little differently we might be in a different place, but you just deflect and choose to call me entitled instead. (See customer service and communication, these will go a long way in your business' continued growth and development). No love lost, there are plenty of great artists in the area that I can spend my thousands with. read more

I got a coverup tattoo done by Lacie. I had a really great experience. We talked about the options for what would work, decided on a theme and certain elements, and she came up with a stunning design. The shop is a really nice space, and I was impressed with all the obvious measures taken to make sure everything was hygienic and clean. Lacie was friendly and professional. I was there a little over 5 hours, and Lacie was friendly and courteous--she kept making sure I was okay through the process and asked me if I needed stretch breaks. While looking for an artist for a tattoo idea I had, I found Lacie on Instagram and looked into her profile and Lone Sparrow. I saw some of the negative reviews on here but I'm understanding and decided to give her a chance anyway, especially since she owns the business. I was deposit ready and tried booking with her, which is done through text. We communicated about my tattoo concept and I was given the price. I asked a question about it, got a response and then said okay to it. At this point, it felt like it was on me to guide the conversation (scheduling, info about the deposit, etc.) I then asked when she was available and was left on read. During this time as well as the next day I see her very active on Instagram, and even announced she had an opening that could be claimed. I've gotten multiple tattoos and piercings and haven't ever had an experience as unprofessional as this. People are busy which I understand but somehow other shops have it figured out. I would also like to add during this whole process she never asked about my name or contact information and almost gave off the sense she didn't really care. I had found Lacie, one of the two tattooers who work there, through instagram and had heard many good things about her. Her and her secretary Sam were very helpful and sweet. Don't even waste your time going here anymore, the guy artists were great but they left recently & pretty sure it took a toll on this shop... I can see why.. I've heard other negative things about this shop too... So very happy with my experience! Lacie let me do my consultation through IG, I live almost an hour away from the shop. I had ideas of what I wanted, lotus mandala. Of course there's tons of versions out there. She booked me with Tate. I got there we discussed what I wanted, he helped me make up my mind, 40 minutes later lol I decided. I love it! I'm seriously so happy with everything about it. I told him I wanted "mermaid colors" he def got it. It's perfectly placed on my back. The shop is nice and clean. Good size waiting area with a TV and Netflix. Clean bathroom! Overall the experience was great, I absolutely would recommend the shop, especially Tate. I had initially set up an appointment with someone other than Lacie for my nipple piercing, it was confirmed and everything. The day of the appointment comes(I call just to be sure because I live almost an hour away)and I'm told that the person piercing me had quit the day before(a notice would've been nice) I make another appointment and the day I come, they dont have titanium jewelry(I was told they did when I made th FIRST appointment) so they would have to order them. Totally fine, I'll reschedule. The third time I come in, it all goes smoothly. Lacie is super sweet and willing to help with questions or concerns. This was also my first piercing and she reassured me, made sure the experience was as positive as possible. So I will say that, while they have room for improvement when it comes to communicating, as far as the actual staff and work goes, they're phenomenal. I plan on getting my first tattoo here as well. Got a flash tattoo from Jay, absolutely adorable and I adore it. Shop is clean and lovely.

I'll start by saying this was the most unprofessional and frustrating interaction I have ever had with any type of business. The owner, Lacie, is incredibly unprofessional and unreliable. I scheduled an appointment with her on May 26th and paid a $200 deposit. My appointment was set for July 9th. The day of the appointment she canceled 3 hours before my appointment. Since then, I have scheduled 3 other appointments with her. All of which she has canceled for one reason or another. I explained to her that I no longer trusted that she ever intended to actually give me an appointment and honor it and ask for me deposit to be refunded. To my surprise, she explained the deposit was no refundable and asked me to reschedule. Not once during the discussion of the deposit did she disclose it would be non refundable. She refuses to refund my deposit and I have not heard from her since I asked her to do the right thing by refunding it, since she was the one who repeatedly canceled. I would not recommend giving her any of your time or money. She's taking money for "deposits" and never intending to actually provide the services, which is clearly why she exclusively uses Zelle. One star is more than this shop deserves. read more

I followed my tattoo artist (Dee Sanchez) here from another shop. My last two tattoos were done by Dee and I could not be more pleased. He is an excellent tattoo artist that cares a lot about the art form. In my opinion, reviewer Josh M. should be thankful Dee didn't slap something on his body that Dee did not feel comfortable about doing. I have a piece now from another guy that turned out good, but could be better had the guy specialized in the style I wanted. The two pieces I got from Dee are by far my best looking pieces and the ones I get most compliments on. Dee is knowledgeable and always gives me details into why he wants to go in the direction we are going. I typically give my artist creative freedom with my tattoos. I also check out Tate's work and would feel comfortable letting him tattoo me if I were into color tattoos. Tate's portfolio seems to be one of many styles which is valuable and not as common these days with younger artists. Lacie seems to help the guys keep things in order with appointments and overall shop management. She is very cool and detail oriented. She responds to my emails in a timely fashion and that is very difficult to find in this industry. It's always nice to get that confirmation call or text before my appointment. She also does the piercings there as well. The shop is clean and has reading materials and things to keep you occupied during your visit or if you bring a friend. Both artist are talented and can provide many styles of tattoo forms between the two of them. I'll be setting up my third appointment with Dee in the next month or so and will also bring my wife so she can get a quote from him as well. This is the most unprofessional place I have dealt with. I was prepared to drive over 3 hours to get a 6 hour tattoo done. My appointment was canceled the first time by the tattoo artist and her earliest appointment was on a weekday which was very inconvenient for me since I would have to take off of work. Less than 24 hours before the appointment she finally sent me a simple sketch, it was a joke. It was nothing we had talked about and it seemed as though it was thrown together and she obviously didn't want my business. I had sent a deposit back in July securing my appointment. The owner of the shop who was supposed to do my tattoo went back on her word for everything including what was in the quote which I have a copy of. If you're a looking for a tattoo shop I WOULD NOT RECCOMEND. I made a piercing appointment with Lacie and drove half an hour to come to her studio, only to show up and be told that she wasn't there. She had not contacted me to cancel and when I told her coworker this I was told that he "doesn't deal with her clients" and that this was between me and her. However, he was nice enough to try calling her for me and offered me a $20 piercing coupon. I contacted her immediately telling her how disappointed I was and how much she had inconvenienced me to which she responded by apologizing profusely and explained that she had had a family emergency and hadn't been able to call and cancel her appointments. I understood, so I talked it out with her and rescheduled. I went in today for my rescheduled appointment, which I again drove 30 minutes to get to, and was again told that Lacie was not there as she was in the process of moving. Once again, I had not been contacted in any way shape or form. Obviously I was upset, and when I expressed this to her coworker (a different person this time) he replied with "Yeah, I don't know, I'm not her." He said he could call her, but that that was all he could do. He then gave me her phone number and said that I could call her myself. So I did, only to get some sob story from her explaining why she wasn't there. I get it, life happens and things get in the way, but she still could've called, especially since she made a big deal about she "never does this" and how "sorry" she was the first time this happened. She offered to do the piercing for half price, but I told her that I planned on taking my business elsewhere to someone who actually cares about her customers. All in all a terrible experience, highly unprofessional on Lacie's part and her coworkers did little to nothing to accommodate me, claiming that it was not their problem. Lacie made it very obvious that she values her time above that of her customers, so I've decided to go somewhere where the piercer actually takes her job seriously and gives enough of a fuck to pick up the phone and let her customers know if they need to cancel. read more

This review is long overdue! I was tattooed by Dee Sanchez a couple months ago. I received 2 roses on my shoulder. The entire experience was amazing. Dee has a 2 step process. You first meet with him, he does a consultation to assess if this is a tattoo match made in heaven or hell. In my case, I have dark skin and he took the time to explain what my skin will and won't allow. He was also very honest about his choice in selecting clients. Luckily, I made the cut. The second step was my appointment. Dee was on time, professional and efficient. He made me feel very comfortable (I was a tattoo virgin). At the end of my session, I didn't want to leave! Lacy is his assistant. She is very helpful and willing to answer any questions you have. Dee is an incredible artist and person. He's taken a lot of time to perfect his artistry and with that said...he's worth every penny. I love my tattoo and months later, I'm still in love with it! Lone Sparrow is a great, clean and intimate shop. When it comes to permanently marking your body for life, it's worth it to do your research and take your time selecting the right artist. Lacie came highly recommended from a lot of my friends for both piercings and tattoos so I knew I was in good hands. She gave me a great deal on my very first tattoo and did an excellent job.
