    Lilly happy after her visit

The vet Mathew came in and was very informative and answered all our of our questions. The front office staff Melinda was very polite and helpful I will definitely bring my dog back.

They love their jobs & the animals brought to them. They saved my baby. Other vets told me to put her down & were careless with her. This was during covid and they weren't accepting new clients but made an exception for my furry baby. i will never forget the kindness of these vets everything about them. You can trust them with your pets they'll love them the way you do. Tuby underwent a surgery that was rarely performed and had low chances of surviving and they never gave up on her. She had her entire bottom half of her body twisted her legs were shattered. This was in 2020 it's now 2022 and she is so healthy she jumps everywhere in our house! Thanks for loving my baby as much as i do. Worth every penny.

My now neutered dog is asleep in my lap as I write this. His surgery seems to have gone well and I can finally stop worrying about him. We dropped him off this morning and were able to stay with him until the initial sedation injection kicked in. My fiance and I were pleased that the staff allowed us to stay so long. Only criticism is they should have given his promethazine prior to the hydromorphone and it would have done better to prevent the ensuing vomit. I watched my drug-drunk dog wobble down the hallway in the safe hands of a vet tech and imagined all the horrible things that could go wrong. Lone Oak Veterinary Clinic can be trusted though :) Dog was happy to see me when I picked him up this afternoon. Clear instructions for post-surgical care, pain meds... cone of shame... when to eat, help to the car. I give the staff an A. And the procedure cost less than the written estimate! Win! We tried two other vet clinics in the Visalia area and were most pleased with Lone Oak after our initial visit. A friend with a miniature pinscher recommended it. There wasn't an excessive wait time, the doctor and techs took time with us and our animals and our numerous questions, and the office is nice (front office staff is lovely, too!) I love the James Herriot feel of driving past the steer and horses on the way into the clinic.

    Super small clean incision.

This vet has refused all new clients since 3 years ago when covid started. Access to care in this town is a joke.

That can feel cold and unfeeling, but it's just how emergency rooms work. Personally, I found the receptionists to be caring and considerate, which is pretty amazing considering the types of issues they're seeing all day every day. Both the tech and the vet were efficient and communicated all recommended procedures and costs I felt like my little kitty was in good hands and they weren't trying to gouge me, they just wanted to help. Are you seen quickly? Well, that all depends on how busy they are and the what kind of issues the patients have. Just like a people emergency room, higher priority cases are going to be seen first. That means you might get bumped from next in line, so be prepared to spend some time there. Is it expensive? Sure, but it's an emergency vet that is open when other vets are closed. They do have a couple of financing options available if you need assistance in paying. Overall, very thankful for the team here.

He said because I had seen a vet that wasn't him in the past, he needed to do a full work up that included X-rays, skin cultures, sedatives, cones, operating room, other supplies etc...I told the tech that it wasn't all necessary so they removed $200 worth of services they originally said were "necessary". I said it still did not feel right and I left to think about what I should do. When I called to schedule the service, because my dog is not getting any better, the Veterinarian refused to allow my pet to be scheduled because I indicated what I felt about the cost of his proposed services on an after visit survey. Although I could not be there in person, everything that happened during the visit directly affected me, and all communication and billing went through me. My dog waited over 40 minutes past the appointment time. I received confusing and rushed explanations about newly discovered issues, including a heart murmur and a cyst that supposedly required surgery. Later that evening, I reviewed the invoice and found an unexpected $136 "extended exam fee." When I called to ask about the charge, I was spoken over, dismissed, and told they could charge whatever they wanted and that each appointment should only take between 15 to 20 minutes, no more. The way my concerns were handled left me feeling disrespected, unheard and appalled that a vet clinic had my pet on a timer. This was my experience as a pet owner, and based on how the situation was handled, I cannot recommend House of Paws. During written communication with the owner, she said there are notices in the exam rooms advising clients to "utilize their appointment time in the most effecient manner possible". So, I was charged extra for failing to be more efficient.
