It's about as basic as London train stations get. They only just got round to putting in an Oyster reader but you can forget about buying a ticket from a machine. If it is working, you can bet it doesn't have any change and cards are not an option.
On the plus side, it's easy to get your journey for free so long as you're not planning on getting off at Liverpool Street or Seven Sisiters. There's never anyone except the drivers on the trains.
The station itself has just the one line and two platforms up quite large flights of stairs. Never seen any issues or shady characters aside a few hoodies, more scared of you than you are of them.
The only mystery is the world of pigeon shit. I've never seen any wildlife within a sniff of the station.
There's always a place to sit on the paint-chipped benches and, if it rains, you can find shelter at the top of the stairs with a corrugated iron roof tip-tapping as the drops fall down.
Trains only run every 10 mins or so but are often delayed, so make sure you check the tfl website before you wander down there, but if you don't, at least the info boards work properly. read more
