Busy, busy, busy. My first impression of this station! Even though it was busy, it never really felt hectic. Every shop or kiosk I went too had plenty of time to talk, I never felt rushed, and the station itself is well signposted and laid out. Not a lot else you can say, really. Just passing through. A very busy thoroughfare. There is the mainline serving the north of UK, the underground and the bus station. Between the concourse and the bus station, is an open area of seating with tables and several cafes. Between the bus station and the main road, Euston Road, is a small garden, Euston Square Gardens, but it still seems very congested. The whole area is need of an overhaul, like King's Cross and St Pancras Stations, which looks so much nicer, cleaner and brighter. read more

I love to hate to you, I love to hate you, I love to haaaaate you!! This is how Euston gets me. On one hand, it's brilliant, you can go practically anywhere around the UK - so it's the like the missing piece which connects you to the world outside of London... (Not that you'd ever wanna leave the bright lights of London town!) On the other hand, it's so overcrowded that when you are getting a train, it's a mission to navigate through all the people, especially when platforms are often announced 5 minutes before the train is leaving!! Food wise, the options are limited with mostly chains - McDonalds, Burger King, and the like. It's got marginally better recently with the openings of Daisy Green coffee shop and a hot dog place, but still there's nothing to draw you into parting with those pounds, unless you starving. The toilets, don't buck the trains and are some mighty average public toilets, which yes you have to pay to use. Another ridiculous thing if you ask me! At a major train station, I fail to see how you should be charging.. One word of warning, if you use the underground here, it's so hard to navigate. I frequently get lost trying to change from one side of the northern line to the other. The slight downside of offering Northern, Victoria and overground. read more

Euston is a station I have mixed feelings towards. I used to use it a lot to travel up to Scotland but it was always my second choice to travelling from Kings Cross. Although there is not much between the two stations, I always found the lay out of Euston a bit more confusing. The central hall area is daunting in its grand size and platforms seem to be hidden down long corridors. Worst of all is the giant screen which lists all the incoming and outgoing trains. As far as I am award there are no alternative smaller screens to view which results in hundreds of people standing in the centre of the train station straining their necks to stare up. There are also no seats in the main area so this group remain firmly stationed in the centre of the hall and act as an impossible obstacle for people running late for a train. Shop wise Euston is pretty average baring a Threshers and an organic sandwich shop. I visited Threshers when I was early to meet a friend off the train. I bought three bottles of wine (buy two get one free if you're thinking I'm an alco) and the woman presented me a plastic cup. For a while I was a bit confused at this but then I realised she expected me to drink these on a long train journey somewhere. Three bottles of wine and one cup- I think it would be my fellow passengers who would be finding the journey long! As far as train stations go Euston is fine, there are plenty of trains and regular announcements for delays. However, with its difficult lay out and lack of seating, it won't be getting in to my top ten train stations any time soon... read more

Well now Euston, you do a good enough job of providing a way to get out of London, but you could smile once in a while. No? My two stars are a protest vote: it's about time Euston got some love, it's very much in the shadow of its neighbours King's Cross and St Pancras. Set back from the road there's little connection to the hustle and bustle of London life, so a passage through the station feels like a trip through the wardrobe. On the inside I suspect you have all the modern conveniences of a railway station, but given the heavy heart which I imagine plenty of travellers carry into the space they're not really shouting to make themselves heard. The shops are probably embarrassed to be there, the platforms themselves hide away down broad slopes that lead you into a shed-like commuter processing area. I'm sure a brighter future awaits, eventually. read more

A busy station however there are plenty of self service machines along with quite a few maned desks which make buying a ticket pretty quick and stressfree. In my experience trains have been easy to board and leave on time however the trains themselves are always SO busy, I struggle to find an unreserved seat. The station has a few shops to browse while waiting (Paperchase & Accessorize being my favs) along with lots of coffee shops and a M&S to get a snack for the journey - trust me it'll be cheaper than the food sold on the trains! read more

Used to spend a lot of time here when I was interviewing for jobs in London, but it had been some time since I had stepped insideuntil recently. Although the station is not particularly attractive, of all the stations I know in London it seems to have the best selection of shops and eateries, including a food court that you would more likely expect to see in a shopping centre or an airport. There are even more options if you step outside too! Probably the best station for time killing options if you are waiting for your train. read more

Euston Station is really quite an uncomfortable station to have to wait. The complete lack of seating leaves you a bit unsure of where to put yourself and quite unsettled. You could sit in the food court but during peak times you can consider yourself lucky to find a seat. There is also a lack of bins which I find quite annoying. The station's shops all have inflated priced to cash in on their captive customer base so if you are planning a trip I would highly recommend packing a lunch or taking a detour into a local newsagents which won't rip you off. Also, beware of the crowds. As soon as a train platform number is announced a stampede of people thunder towards the gate meaning for a few minutes it is impossible to access certain parts of the station. Stations are a necessary evil but all I can advise with regards to Euston is that you take your own food & refreshments and that you show up 10 minutes before your train departs to avoid discomfort. read more

No bins, no seats, it's massive so everyone can see the departures board which is the main thing. It has a Pret so it is pretty good. The toilets are pay and I personally think this should be illegal. Are you seriously making a decent amount of money for 20p a visit? This is the height of corporate stingyness. read more

Euston Station is having a bit of a face lift. And they're installing new places to eat and shop. So I give them this much. In comparison to other stations I would give them a 5-stars. But over all when I think of Euston, I think of the little things that really stress me out. But honestly, all in all, it's a great station to go to and from. There's plenty to see and do within a 1-minute walk. Plenty of places to grab a drink or food, some options for shopping: Boots, Starbucks, Burger King even. Where it misses the target is the toilets (nearly 50p each time I have to pee) and up until now, it's been a flash back sort of feeling in a time warp from the 70's. I'm also still not sure how to navigate the taxi area and they're still needing some better signage. It's a little difficult to navigate around, and the lack of seating was very difficult when I was traveling through there with someone who was disabled. I am hoping within with year, that I can give Euston Station 5-stars! I really hope their makeover will do wonders. Go Team Euston! read more

Major transport hub for all the trains that come to London. It's usually very busy loud and not much seating. But it does what it's designed to do. Nice clear information boards with the trains but some platforms are a bit of a walk! Nice selection of shops with not too inflated prices. Can't help but have to visit this place but its not too bad. read more

Found station to be easy to locate and maneuver. It is a large station so plan time to get to your platform. Lots of people hustling and bustling about but never felt worried about safety. Pretty average shops, paid restrooms, quality food. It does the job of getting people to where they need to go in a fairly clean and essentials available manner. Nothing glam or glitzy. read more

Who in the UK hasn't been to Euston? Basically everyone who wants to travel from the North to London (or vice-versa) by rail has passed through here. I find the place pretty depressing. It has that massive screen that everyone is forced to wait underneath in the main hall. It also has umpteen Burger Kings, etc. etc. through most types of fast food. It's one culinary saving grace is the Marks & Spencer Food outlet, which although not super cheap, is far and away the best place to get your take-away from. Underneath is the Euston tube station. Again it's a pretty depressing place, especially in rush hour. Having never lived in London I generally forget the system between visits and am forced to ask my way from a-to-b. While ultimately helpful, the staff are some of the least patient people I've ever met. People shouldn't be made to feel ignorant, when they are simply unfamiliar. read more

Euston station is one of those places that you're forced to go to every now and again. Like when travelling to London from Manchester (and back again). I try and spend as little time here as possible. A sixties monstrosity, the only remaining part of the original station is the stone arch out by the bus station. It has none of the charm of the other London mainline stations - Victoria, Charing Cross, Kings Cross -- at least they have some style and history about them. There's hardly any seating for all the people waiting for their trains; the only saving grace is the first class lounge for those lucky enough to hold a ticket that permits them entry. The rest have to whittle away the time in the usual suspects of station retail - Boots, Burger King, Pasty King and so on. Having said that, outside there is a Krispy Kreme doughnut outlet, which is a plus point. If you can avoid it, do; if you can't, plan to be here as short a time as possible. read more

Many a year have I spent travelling to London into Euston. The station has a lot of platforms, some are tedious to walk in from. There is a pub up top and the usual fast food vendors inside. The space outside has expanded the vending options for a coffee or food on your route. The toilets are not great and they charge for them. Location is nice 5 minutes to Kings Cross by foot, connected on the Northern and Victoria lines or Euston Square is round the corner. They have revamped the ticket office so this is quite good now. The disappointing thing is the train service. read more

As sleek as Mr Branson's trains from the North West, Birmingham and Glasgow may be, there's one down side: of all of London's railway termini, you hit the buffers of your journey at the shabbiest of them all: Euston. I watched one of Michael Palin's 'Great Railway Journeys' the other month, the one that was filmed in 1980. Euston features near the start of the film; it has hardly changed a bit in 28 years. I'll repeat that: twenty-eight years. Interestingly, Michael's commentary cites the fact that Euston was designed so that people wouldn't linger; the designers have admirably achieved their remit. St Pancras has its gothic splendour. Kings Cross has its Cubitt influence. Paddington has its bear. Euston? No score. Basically it's a dull-as-ditchwater concrete boxa classic example of everything that was wrong about 1960s architecture. There are no benches to sit on - don't forget, you're not to linger - and has a permanent fixture of 100+ people stood in its concourse, staring up at the departure boards like a modern-day, suitcase-wielding cavalry waiting for the signal to charge. I can only hope that the rumoured redevelopment is true. read more

I popped into Euston Station to pick up some Millies Cookies and was impressed with the station. It was extremely busy but it was 6pm on a Friday evening so I am guessing a lot of people would have been getting back home or going away for the weekend. This place is boring! And not just because I pass through every couple of weeks either. Many modern train stations have engaged in the 'mall' experience, but Euston has stuck with what is needed and no more. Waiting for the platform signs to show what platform to go to you just find hundreds of people stood in the middle of the station staring screenwards... They've got nothing else to do..! Living in the northwest Euston is the 'hub' we frequent for trips to London. It hasnt changed vastly over the years however the number of shops, eating places within have increased and are reasonably good. The building itself is nothing special, certainly not the most attractive of the London stations. The facilities such as toilets and seating however are lax to say the least and i would not want to spend much time within the station especially after once being subjected to 3 hours waiting as my train was cancelled. Our most recent visit found us having to sit outside on the 'kerb' of the grass area as it there was nowhere inside, poor in that respect and i'm hoping the improvements they promised on huge boards are fulfilled for our next visit. Drawbacks aside it is well placed, has good connections by tube and bus as the bus station is right outside so it does have its benefits. read more

For a start I'm really glad they're building a lift from the main rail station down to the underground. Until then, you have to either pack up your buggy and carry your child down or leave your child in it and try to balance the buggy and yourself as you go down the escalator. A rather hairy experience as you can imagine! If you don't fancy the prospect of catching the underground when you have kids the alternative is to hop on a bus outside the front. I use the word hop very loosely. It's more a bump bump bump as you try to negotiate the steps at the front with your buggie unless you're lucky enough to have someone help you lift it down. It's only four steps or so but you'd think you were descending Everest! I'm used to the journey through Euston as I've lived in London in the past but if you don't know your way around and are trying to catch a bus from outside the front just take a big breath and try to stay relaxed as it'll take you a while to work out whereabouts you need to go to catch your bus! read more

I love London and as a result I do find myself trying to get down there a couple of times a year. The only train station I tend to go to is London Euston and this is because I do trust it there and find it a very pleasant station with lots to do which is nice. It is reliable and the trains are regular so this is why I think it is a very good station indeed to travel to if you are going into the UK's largest city. First the address: Euston Road London Greater London NW1 2RT Now getting to Euston is easy because trains are regular and it is a huge station with over ten platforms and trains come from the south and from the North. I catch the train from Birmingham and it takes around 1.5 hours and costs £20 if you are lucky and get the strange time trains which trust me is worth doing to save a bit of money. The trains are every half hour or so, so they are very regular. The trains from Birmingham are Virgin trains so they are very nice. When you arrive in London Euston everything is clearly signposted from the platform number you are on, to the televisions which show you train times, to the exit signs so you can actually find your way out. The platforms are very clean and tidy and there was plenty of staff around to ask questions if you get stuck. On the platforms you do have waiting rooms which are very basic but that is all you need really. They were very warm though which is nice as train station platforms are very cold most of the time. The televisions on the platforms will tell you the next train leaving from there and exactly what stations the train will stop at so you shouldn't be able to get lost. It does also give you a time of arrival and lets you know if a train is late. You walk away from the platforms and into the main train station and it is massive. There are big screens there showing a news station and there are also big screens showing you trains and times and which platform to go to. Again there are people there to ask if you get stuck at all. Now the station is very clean and there are seats everywhere just in case you get tired. I liked it because we arrived very early for our train and there is plenty to see at London Euston. There are loads of shops including WHSmith and boots. They are quite big stores too. Then if you fancy a bite to eat you can choose from Millies cookies, burger king, crust and a couple of cafes so you can always get something. There are loads of staff at this station and cameras everywhere. There are loads of ticket sellers so queues move down quite quickly and there are fast track machines, pre-booked machines and permit to travel machines so you should be alright to get where you want to be on time. There is a left luggage section so if you do lose something it may turn up there and there is even a first class visitors lounge so if you fancy like going in there if you have brought a first class ticket then there you go. The station has a good buzz about it because it is London and is always busy which is very reassuring. I feel safe there and like it as a station. Its location is good because it is very near to several tubes so you can get all across London to it and from it very quickly which is always useful. Most of us from the West Midlands, North Wales and the North West pass through here, along with Hertfordshire's commuters. I used to have the misfortune of commuting every day through here, although the pain of those two and a half years is fading from my memory. Euston Station is a large grey concrete box, parked on top of Euston tube station with a car park sandwiched between the two. Pretty it isn't, although it is well served by a good selection of shops and food outlets designed to minimise the pain of any delays by a quick meal or a small diversion to treat yourself. The quality of the food outlets has risen progressively over the years, with bagels and fresh soups now accompanying the usual burgers and baguettes. There is a decent sized M&S Simply Food, small branches of Boots and Accessorize and two branches of WH Smith. Another reviewer mentioned that Euston had been designed to discourage people from lingering, and never was an intention more successfully accomplished. There are very few seats, and people tend to congregate below the departure board. This is where the game of platform roulette takes place, when departure platforms are announced around ten minutes before departure. There is then a game of survival of the fittest, where passengers are caught up in a mad scramble to grab a seat on their train. This becomes even more ugly as tickets are checked at the barrier, and the queue needs to funnel down into a very narrow gap. If you are slightly unsteady on your feet, do ask for assistance, as you could find yourself trampled underfoot. Surely there must be a better way to achieve a quick turnaround? On the plus side, staff are generally helpful, including the team at the information desk for the Underground and buses. There is a bus station immediately outside, and you may want to check out the possibility of a bus rather than the tube at the height of the summer. When the weather is good, there is space to sit outside, and a small Starbucks hut for an frappuccino. Platform signage and information boards are clear throughout the station. There is also a big screen tv keeping you up to date with the most recent news. There is a taxi rank at car park level. A word of warning here - if the queue for taxis has reached the departure hall level, then you may be best leaving the concourse and trying to flag a taxi outside. I reckon that once the queue reaches ground level, you're looking at 20-30 minutes for a cab. read more

I don't know why some people have given Euston bad reviews because as far as train stations go, this is one of the best that the UK has to offer! I'm a World traveller and spent a lot of time on trains in my life, especially throughout the UK! What I like about Euston is that it's really efficient and simple, big clear open space to stand around waiting for your train whilst looking up at the huge notice boards with the train times, exactly what you need! Or, you can hang out at one of the many many nice restaurants in the station too. The other great thing about Euston is that there are more restaurants outside as well, Nando's Burger place, healthy food, etc... And it connects to the Northern line which is just perfect for me to get around London in a hurry. And being from the Midlands now, it's only an hour on the train from Coventry to Euston so to be honest, I could;t be happier with London Euston, it;s an ideal train station for me. I also like the new second tier that they've put inside with the new restaurants upstairs! BONUS! I like my healthy food so I'm really glad that they went that way instead of a McDonalds or something like that. We've already got enough fast food outlets, we need more higher end establishments so give some balance for customers like myself. read more

Something of a nightmare on my recent visit. The small waiting room is at one end of the station and the toilets at the other - a very long walk with luggage and/or children but few other places to sit. The disabled toilet was filthy, an absolute disgrace. The floor and pipes haven't been cleaned in a very long time. Even the grab rails had a build up of dirt/dust. Euston for me is a necessary evil as I use it to get to work almost everyday. As such our relationship is one of mutual respect and disdain. I spend so much time there I have my patterns which as long as there aren't any issues I barely notice that I am there. However, on a day where something goes wrong it can be hell on earth. I don't blame Euston itself for this, most stations jammed with casual travellers become hell when there are disruptions. I find the services and food options to be quite good and it's helpful to have grocery stores to pick up last minute items. The plaza is a death trap for people who don't smoke as it is jammed with smokers rain or shine. read more

I travel to the midland quite often to see friends and family, so I have to go via London Euston all the time. It's a very busy station as it's the link from London to the midlands and the north, and as it's also an underground station it has a lot of people going in and out. It seems to be undergoing some sort of modernisation at the moment, which can only be a good thing I guess. It's a little drab and dreary but hopefully that will all be changing soon. read more

This station could be a lot better improved but I do have a soft sport for this station as it is roughly a 25 minute journey from home and can get to almost anywhere in London really quickly. They have Euston Square which is a 5 minute walk and has circle, metropolitan and hammersmith and city line. Also Kings Cross St Pancras station is a 10 minute walk which has Circle, Hammersmith & City, Metropolitan, Northern, Piccadilly and Victoria. It is in a good location but the actual station could do with a revamp and potentially less walkway to get to the trains as the slope to get there is quite long. Has a few fast food places and a few pubs outside. Never been here long enough to actually visit anywhere in the station. read more

Euston is good and the architecture is flawed greatness. The Architecture of Richard Seifert, who was also responsible for Centre Point, could be a love him or hate him architect. I would fall on the liking side of love. Although not a purest his buildings are very interesting and for my money if restored and developed could be great. But this Seifert building is to be demolished and that is the way of London and always has been. So if your interested in architecture get a good look at Euston and all it's interesting 60's detail before it goes. read more

I have to say that for being a fairly busy station it's a good station.. I only take the tube from here som times so can't judge the trains but normally not much kicking and scratching at the platforms as some other places so all good :)) But this is not just a train/tube station.. I have been here many times when I have forgotten a card or a present or just want a late ice cream, cake or even an outfit as they have a good couple of shops to.. Paperchase, Body Shop, Accessorise, Boots, Millies Cookies, M&S, Paul's, Fat Face, and Magazine places and that's just to name a few and them some restaurants, outside cafe's and small stands they sell different foods in.. Open till late and most of the places have nice and politely helpful staff.. read more

Anybody coming down to the capital from the north west of England on the West Coast Mainline (like myself) will have experienced Euston station in all its glory. Its a huge terminus station with 17 platforms with trains running through the home counties towards the Midlands and North West England. It has several shops and stalls, a (predictably) large ticket shop and its own underground station (on the Northern and Victoria lines). I do have gripes with it - the platforms for intercity trains are not announced until just before departure, creating an unholy scrum for those waiting to get on those trains. There is also a severe lack of seating inside the station. There is also a major shortage of lifts - having to carry three cases up a flight of stairs from the taxi rank to the main station is not an experience I wish to repeat. It's ok but not great, but you can't really avoid it if you want to get to London by train read more

Not as good since you can't smoke in here anymore but not a bad station nonetheless. Trains take you all over, from St Albans and Milton Keynes to Manchester and Glasgow. REally busy place, plenty of places to eat ranging from organic to Burger King to Cornish pasty place to M&S to the pub. A pretty good main station connected to underground and overground links. The boards are super clear to read and there are plenty of places to eat or shop for the basics such as a mini Boots and Burger King and a bar on the upper floor. The only negative is that unless you are using the cafes and restaurants there is no where for people to sit down and wait-and i object to having to pay for the toilets. read more
