    Fish and chips

My boyfriend has never had Peruvian food and really wanted to try it. He got the fish and chips for us to share and the steak and fajitas are huge. Portions were really generous! I normally don't love steak fries, but there's are super fresh and paired well with the yolk from the egg and the steak sauce. The service was really nice and pretty quick, and also was kind enough to ask how we wanted the eggs done while prepping the food. The plantains were also amazing and cooked to perfection! We will definitely come back

Ceviche mixto (whitefish, mussels, shrimp, calamari, toasted pine nuts, etc in a lime/pepper sauce)

10/10. I'm glad that Jimmy's relocated here and that they're still serving up the best Peruvian food in Sacramento. Seafood was fresh, lomo was well seared, flavorful, and perfectly tender. Service was excellent and loved the ambiance of the restaurant. Will always come back!

I would have never thought a Japanese restaurant was here. The inside was another story! The inside is decorated with all kinds of Japanese pictures and decor. You definitely felt like you were in a Japanese restaurant. The menu was impressive! Everything had pictures which is so amazing! It was just easier having an idea of what to pick based on looking at the pictures. There were all kinds of sushi rolls, bento boxes, noodles, appetizers and plates. We decided to get the ramen, salmon katsu, and tempura bowl. Food came our really quick. Portions were good and everything we tasted wonderful. It definitely satisfied our craving. The tempura was crispy. The ramen broth was rich and noodles nice and chewy. The bento box came with gyoza, salad, tempura, oranges, miso soup and rice. Service was great. They were attentive, and friendly. Eating with our littles ones is never easy and we appreciated how patient they were with us. We loved the food and hope to come back and try their sushi next!

This is exactly what I had experienced when I paid a visit to "Akira Sushi" Located directly on Greenback Lane and adjacent to Auburn Blvd in Citrus Heights, this place opened its doors for business back in mid-2024. Since then, they have seen a very respectable amount of positive reviews. As I had previously mentioned, the exterior isn't much to look at as this is a fairly dated strip mall that hasn't received any updates in decades. And to those that remember, this is the same building that "Pho 54" occupied from 2013-2023. During my visit which was the afternoon of Sunday 8/3/2025 at around 5:15pm, I parked directly outside as there were no other cars here. Upon entry, there was one other customer finishing dinner. After being greeted and seated, I was given a menu complete with a cold glass of iced water. I will say that the interior of this place is quite impressive, cozy, and inviting. The distressed wooden tables paired up with the tan-colored walls and unique murals add an upscale look to the overall interior. On a packed evening, this place can comfortably seat around 50 guests. I will say that their menu is fully loaded with pure deliciousness. They offer a huge variety of traditional sushi rolls, custom rolls, Bento boxes, seafood tacos (available in tuna or salmon), Poke bowls, and even ramen for the colder days/evenings. And even a nice variety of beverages including soda, beer, wine, and sake. Since I was dining solo, I decided on the "Sunomomo Salad" which was a cucumber salad w/Ponzu sauce and Bonito flakes. My main dish was their "Napa Valley" roll which uses shrimp tempura, cucumbers, avocado, spicy aioli, unagi sauce, and topped with sesame seeds. My salad was brought out in less than 3 minutes while my sushi arrived just a few minutes later. I will say that everything was very fresh and delicious. The avocado had perfect consistency while the shrimp was made to perfection. In my humble opinion, this was an absolute gem of a roll. All in all, "Akira Sushi" is about as good as it gets for quality sushi in Citrus Heights. They have very respectable hours of operation being open 6 days a week; Tuesday through Sunday from 11:30am-2:30pm / 4:00-8:30pm with extended hours on Fri/Sat while being closed for business on Monday. Service was great as the young lady that waited on me was polite, courteous, and respectful. With a great atmosphere, delicious food, and reasonable prices, I am giving Akira Sushi a unanimous five-star rating.

As I walked in, I was greeted warmly and seated promptly by the one server present. Not all tables were occupied. Still, I wondered about whether it might be too much for her to handle. I needn't have been concerned - she was professional, very pleasant, and on top of every detail. Decor is pleasant without seeming fussy. I perused the menu and decided on a light lunch that included some miso soup, an order of smoked salmon nigiri, an order of hamachi (yellowtail) nigiri, and an unagi (eel) hand roll. Everything was very fresh and presented beautifully. It was a lovely solo lunch on a beautiful day. I can't imagine a nicer way to treat myself after a doctor's appointment. When scheduling future visits, I'll try to make sure they're around midday so I can stop off at Express for lunch before heading home.

We are glad we did and we'll probably return due to the freshness of their food. The rainbow roll was just right not too fishy. The chicken teriyaki, miso and edamame also tasted fresh and delicious. Some other sushi places usually have a similar taste or the chicken doesn't taste as fresh but here, the food was of a different quality. The edamame too tasted different with what they called the "spicy edamame". It wasn't your typical chili flake spice; this one tasted like a bit of gochujang or miso paste. It was a nice change from what you normally get at other Japanese places. The inside is just on the smaller scale so if you have a large group, it may not work out especially if they are busy. They also do not have an outdoor area. So, I would say 1-4person group would work. We came on a Friday evening and there was only 1 table of 2 left for us. So, we will definitely be back. We recommend this spot if you are in the area and want to eat good quality Japanese food!

There's always something new and exciting to try, and many of the ingredients and fish are sourced directly from Japan. The staff is incredibly knowledgeable about what they're serving... I was amazed when they explained that one of the fish had been raised on a diet that included orange peels. The level of care and attention to detail is incredible. Everything I've had here has been exceptionally fresh and delicious. In fact, I keep bringing more friends and family with me each time because I want everyone to experience it. If you're planning to visit on a Friday, I highly recommend arriving around 5:30 PM if you want a good chance at getting a seat because it's small. This place is absolutely worth it.
