Luckily the Broadway shopping centre has 3 hours free parking! They have great produce and also harder to find ingredients and importantly for me, they have duck pate at the deli. I remember being in French Canada and eating baguettes and quality pate from the local marts and have been craving this back here in Sydney. Now to find top notch fresh baguettes around central Sydney ! The artisan breads at Harris Farms aren't bad though. I love their selection of grass fed beef and lamb and the fact that they do heaps of pre marinated cuts means that if you're in a hurry to have a classy dinner party or bbq, this is the place to go! Between Harris Farms and Peters Meats upstairs, Broadway is spoilt for choice when it comes to quality meat offerings. I know people might shoot me for this comment, but I think of Harris Farms as the Aussie version of Wholefoods (on a much smaller scale) where you find quality alternatives to the offerings at the big 2 chains.

Available in almond, vanilla and rose, it'll set you back just a few dollars for a plate and is great to take along to dinner parties. Nortons has a great selection of olives (my picks: the manchego stuffed, anchovy stuffed, Sicilian and chilli stuffed) and cheeses, plus I'm sure they've got a good range of deli meats as well - I should say that as a non-meateater I didn't really pay this much attention. Aside from the antipasto ingredients, Nortons has fantastic selection of fresh fruit and vegetables, which is fantastic when the Coles upstairs disappoints. Not only is everything stacked and presented immaculately, but the grocers are more than willing to help you choose the right produce, selecting the one that's just ripe enough for whenever you may need it. They have a great selection of fresh and dry pastas, passatas and various other Italian ingredients, and come Christmas and Easter times their shelves are loaded with dozens of panettone varieties - my boyfriend's Italian mum (not a Sydney-sider) has us source on from Nortons every holidays. Given all it's good points, and the fact that Norton Street Grocer is open 'til 7pm almost every night, I have no excuse for missing it. Gourmet ice cream, fresh bread and vegetables that look like they were picked from the patch yesterday. The ingredients and produce are all fresh and simple - not many 'extras' are added to the packaged goods in the fridge cabinet. I really love Mario's because it introduced me to the Coyo - Coconut Yogurt - which has to be one of the most delicious healthy treats I've ever tried (it's now a staple in my breakfast diet). You can buy tasty bananas at $7.99/kilo and a mango will cost you $2.99 which is far cheaper than the competition in the area. Mario's Market use to be called Neutral Bay Fresh Food Grocer.

I wish I could do a whole inventory but I think its safe to say that this place has pretty much everything. Special mention for the bunches of flowers at the front of store near the registers. They are always beautiful and look amazing, fantastic quality. And extremely cheap! I would recommend getting flowers here than at a florist, as they are top quality and last for ages.

In terms of organic beauty Taste have a decent range - Dr Hauschka, Weleda, Trilogy, Suki to name but a few. They have some men's ranges, plenty of natural soaps, hair dyes, pamper products and baby care skin care. Beyond beauty they have a fantastic range of health foods. I've bought gluten free baking powder, lentil pasta, sprouted bread, coconut yoghurt, seaweed snacks, organic teas, coffees and chocolate - pretty much anything you can think of that Wholefoods might have these guys do too. The difference is, though the shelves are most certainly full, it doesn't feel crammed or stuffy in here. As well as packaged goods there is also a decent selection of fresh organic fruit and veg. It's obviously more expensive than supermarket produce but it tastes more alive. There is a fairly energetic come feisty in-house naturapath in store there most days who is a wealth of information and pretty good at sales (my personal trainer sister walked out with four treatments for her dermatitis). There is a fairly good range of vitamin and minerals. The staff are gentle, sweet and helpful. If you fancy a fresh organic fair trade juice or coffee they can whip one up for you to enjoy on the tables and chairs outside. Mind you, this right on Falcon Street so the car fumes don't bode well for your organic snack - unless it goes straight down the hatchet, that is. Parking available underground on the premises.
