After a thorough assessment of the work, he said the quote was too low, he wanted much more money and he left. Afterwards, a new price was provided, I again emailed him the Scope of Work the second time before he showed up to do the work a few days later. At this moment, despite my several requests by email, he didn't finish grinding the stumps as per the Scope of Work and wanted to be paid, and said he has referred the matter to a collection agency. He was very unprofessional.

They ripped our sons trampoline net, promised to replace the net, but did not follow through.They also said we would get between $5 to $7K for the stumpage. WTS arranged the buyer, and we ended up getting only $300, and then WTS charged us for hauling the unsold logs away...an extra $2,700 we weren't expecting! The job went from $15,000 net of stumpage sales to $25,250...an increase of $10 K.

The roots were exposed above the ground and a lot underground. Dan came by and gave us a reasonable estimate. We weren't in a hurry and he said he would find an available time in the near future. He showed up a few weeks later. We did not have to call him again like we have had to do with many contractors who promise and then never show. He and his helper got the big root grinder off his trailer and started the nasty, dusty job. He spoke with me before he started going over exactly what we wanted and he made suggestions which we agreed to. Then he did exactly what we agreed to. He used protective boards to avoid sending rock and/or pieces of roots in to our house, fence, or shrubs. They cleaned up the pieces including the rocks that we have in our yard all over. He only asked for the agreed estimated price. Dan and his helper were both friendly and professional. We would certainly recommend his service to others and we would have him do any tree service we might need in the future.

I did not ask him for that, he just offered and I accepted. The result was that I ended up getting almost a third more for my wood from that mill of his choosing, than I got from another mill last year for a very similar size and quality shipment. All the debris and even leaves that were previously on the lawns were cleaned up. Their price may be slightly higher than competitors but they are fully insured and have WorksafeBC which others do not.
