Best in Town, good by any measure. I was told by a hostess…read morein a nearby town that if she had to eat in Wooler this is the only place she would go. I can't vouch for every place in town but the dinner here was excellent. I thought it to be of surprisingly high quality in a small town. Service was excellent even though they were very busy. (It was a weeknight but the beginning of school holidays. Call and make a reservation.) The starters and main courses were above the usual level of customary Italian. The desserts were artistic as well as tasty. The décor is an interesting sort of Bistro style and the bar well stocked. Milan is hidden down a walkway off the street so it may take a tiny bit of effort to see. Go find it!

The menu didn't have a huge variety but I find that usually a good thing as gives more concentration and focus on dishes. I had enjoyed some mussels the other night so had them as a main here and my partner ordered a chicken wrapped in ham. To supplement this a house salad was ordered. The food did take a while to arrive but I thoroughly enjoyed mine but glancing at partner's it did look uninspiring and dry. Jealously we glanced at a lady who had ordered and epic looking pasta dish which she exclKmed was the best thing she had eaten in a long time lol I really think it is sometimes pot luck aka on what you order. The ice cream to finish was lovely in kinder, strawberry and vanilla. Overall nice atmosphere but could feel the staff under pressure .

Having had our previous restaurant booking cancelled due to 'technical difficulties' at short…read morenotice, we knew we had limited time to find a restaurant on a sun-kissed, hugely busy bank holiday in Whitby. Thankfully we happened on Cosa Nostra, a large multilevelled Italian restaurant on Church Street and they had a table free! Shown to the upper levels of the restaurant, it was a good place to relax away from the hustle and bustle on a busy May evening. The menu had a decent variety of traditional and more unusual dishes from pizza to pasta, fish dishes to calzone. Not feeling at our most ravenous, we opted for two standard dishes, linguini carbonara and linguini ragu, washed down with a pint of draught Peroni, accompanied by some garlic bread. When the dishes arrived, wow, the portions are enormous at this place! Two large bowls of pasta and a generous pizza sized portion of thin crust garlic bread. The carbonara was spot on, the creaminess of the sauce contrasted perfectly with the saltiness of the bacon, the garlic bread heavy on the garlic, as it should be and the ragu full of earthy tomato flavours. Gamely though we tried, we couldn't finish any of the components, as we both were just recovering from a cold. The head waiter was so concerned with our lack of progress, he offered to pack us up a doggy bag! Reassuring him the food was spot on, we vowed to return when our appetites renewed.

They have a lunch special, which fortunately, was also good on Saturday. I believe it was 8.95, three courses - soup or potato skins, a pasta or pizza, and coffee or ice cream. This is a crazy good deal. I had the soup and three skins for the others. Soup was good, nothing amazing, but no complaints, and the potato skins were really, really good. They also come with a couple dipping sauces, which are also good. Really smart marketing here to get rid of potato skins. My wife and I each had the carbonara, which was good. The kids enjoyed their pepperoni and cheese pizzas. The coffee was not good, but the ice cream was. (I'm not going to complain about mediocre coffee with a deal this good- should have chosen the ice cream). The ice cream is vanilla - that's the choice. The kids also chose sodas, which seemed to be included in the price. Service was friendly and it seemed like people were dressed up to go there. The place is cozy and has lots of space. The credit card system was down, so we had to get cash from the ATM across the street, but that was the only issue we had. I assume that doesn't happen much. We would definitely eat here again, particularly for lunch. You can't beat that special - Wow!

We started with reasonably priced drinks, then got two pizzas for table appetizers. They both had crisp and chewy crust with flavorful sauce and toppings. The pizzas came out pretty quickly. Shortly thereafter, our entrees arrived, piping hot from the kitchen. We got three different chicken dishes and two pastas. The chicken came with a side, and we all chose the salad over chips or vegetables. The salad had mixed lettuces, peppers, peas, and a few other fresh ingredients. The chicken dishes all had healthy sized portions and great flavor. It was moist and easy to cut. I didn't try the pastas, but was told they were delicious. We had made last minute reservations online and were seated in a roomy booth quickly. Prices for everything were very reasonable and the portions were just right. The restaurant itself was clean and orderly. Our only complaint was the noise level. Music was playing loudly, so people had to talk loudly to be heard by their table mates, which increased the noise level even more. They were busy, but were still able to be attentive to each table's needs. We would definitely go back if we ever find ourselves in this town again.
