We found this park when we were passing by. We turned around and spent three days here! Chris and Marcy have put their heart and soul into this place! They have the above and beyond hospitality as well as a plethora of information about the area and the fun adventures nearby. They have a gathering area with very comfortable seating and fire pit in the center. Great play area for children and a dog walk for your fur babies. The bathrooms and showers are cleaned daily and very accommodating to all. As you can see we have had our fill of other types of RV Parks that tend to be more concerned about the sale than the truth. This place is priceless! We rented a pull through spot with full hookups. There are adorable cabins to rent on this 12 acre pine covered area with a short stroll down to the river. Trails galore to ride and the quaint little town of Troy nearby.

The entire campground is family run...it's owned by the grandparents, and the adult grandkids work there with them. (Plus one other person, I wish I could remember her name...she was great too.) In talking with the owner, Vern, I learned that they've started catering more to the long- term stay campers because the money is more consistent. So about half the full hook - up camp spots, plus the 2 cabins, are filled with permanent residents. They don't take reservations at all anymore, so if you want to just camp there for a short trip, it's first come, first served. There's just something about this place that feels amazing. I'm more of a hotel kind of girl, my boyfriend is the avid camper...and we were doing a combo of camping and hotel stays on this trip. But I actually opted to stay a SECOND night here INSTEAD of a nice hotel. I didn't want to leave! We hope to come back in the summer and bring the kids!

The formation of the Kootenai Falls was said to be due to a succession of phenomena. The underlying…read moreBelt Supergroup layer of crust was the result of the despoition of quartzites, mudstones, and shale from when the area was an ancient sea floor. Next, tectonic forces caused there to be a folding action where the crust compressed up against a different tectonic plate as they were headed in opposite directions. The Kootenai River exposed the hard rocks of this Belt Supergroup including the tectonic folds and faults that now resulted in the "steps" over which the river flowed. Such violent geologic forces ultimately would give rise to the rugged Rocky Mountains that dominated the Continental Divide. This would separate the ancient seas of the west and the Great Plains to the east. The Kootenai Falls bridge was initially built in 1937 to help the US Forest Service access forest fires on the other side of the Kootenai River, but a major flood destroyed it in 1948. The bridge was rebuilt in the 1950s, and with the creation of the Libby Dam, and was protected from flooding. This particular bridge I believe was rebuilt in 2019. The best thing about it? Not many people know it's there. Worth your time to visit.

When we arrived, not only was Steve there to show us to our spot, but several others currently staying. In the park were helpful in spotting some close calls and helping get us positioned just right in our spot. For our rig size, it was a close call and tight fit getting in, but once in our spot it was perfect. They got us in site 11 no problem. Is it an impersonal overly polished concrete and blacktop parking lot style RV Park with perfect level geometry/symmetry everywhere you look? No, but it was one of the best and most relaxing locations we've been so far. It's in the middle of a game preserve, so there are numerous deer routinely wandering around the area. Ahhh nature! As far as quiet goes, evenings were like a cemetery (in a good way). Just lots of peace and quiet to enjoy your surroundings. And the sunsets on the dock & beach! They are about as idyllic as you can get for lakefront property. We spent time swimming, kayaking, and just siting our on the dock enjoying the sunshine. I can speak for the internet/WiFi as we had great T-Mobile reception and so were only on our own hotspots the entire time. 60Mbit down / 8.9Mbit up. Perfectly suited to my purposes.

We drove for over 11hrs to get here. We arrived later that evening. There were piles of mosquitoes everywhere and more flying outside and inside the cabin. There were urine stains in the rugs and the smell was bad. The master bedroom floor was visibly damaged.The property looked nothing like advertised. Weeds were high all around the perimeter up to the cabin. We contacted the manager, Connie I believe. She said maintenance could remove the rug. That's all. Not sure how that addresses all those issues. We explained due to unsafe health conditions considering my wife's situation there was no way we could stay. We were over 1700 miles from home now stuck with looking for somewhere else to stay. We never stayed there, only walked thru the door for a few minutes. Luckily we found a place over an hour away. Donna, the host thru Airbnb offered us a refund of $1010. Charging us a cleaning fee and taxes on the days we never stayed a single night. We are currently disputing the charges. We sent out emails to the different ALS/MS organizations notifying them of the poor treatment at this property. The absence of service is astounding. We attempted to call the property over a dozen times no answer. Buyer beware, don't stay here. Unless they look hard at their policies and treatment of people with disabilities. No Go- MVP

I had reserved three nights during my stay in the region and that was smart because every site was occupied. I set up my tent quickly and took a quick photo from inside my tent before I went to sleep exhausted after a full day of hiking. I was up before dawn to get back on the trails at Glacier by 7am so I packed up quickly. Thinking I would return for the second and third nights, stormy weather derailed that plan. It's too bad because I liked this park and wanted to spend more time at my lakeside campsite. A plus was the other campers who were all incredibly quiet and respectful.
