It does carry some t-shirts and trinket type items but most of the inventory is centered around higher quality and practical clothing. The company has been around since 1902 and is perhaps most famous for it's wide selection of warm and quality sweaters. Definitely something people need to survive the winters up here. There are also heaps of shoes and boots, scarves, warm socks, hats, swimwear, sun glasses, watches and of course high quality long underwear. I even saw some life jackets in the store. Definitely a wide variety of different and very useful items. The prices here vary but tend to reflect the higher quality of the merchandise. Jansons isn't a good place to find trinkets and souvenirs but it is a great store to find quality clothing to keep your butt warm during the cold Maine winters.

The boots I got are gorgeous and comes in so many colors. Some of my favorite brands live there like Gabor and Ara and there were others I never heard of like brands from Spain. I finally found a birkenstock that fit me that I have wanted for a long time. The woman who was also helping me was so sweet and patient. My friend bought a few pairs too. I wore the Gabor loafers today and they were comfy right out of the box. I will drive to Kennenunkport from Boston if I need anymore shoes. If i don't buy another pair of shoes I wouldn't need to. We were standing there smelling the colognes (bottle to the nose) and I decided my to ditch my husband for the clearance racks. Im 30 feet away when one of the employees says, while bagging a customer order "sir, you cant spray the cologne because some customers may have allergies". My husband looks up and says "yep, I understand- I havent sprayed anything" (he works in the medical field) she continues in front of at least 20 people standing in line, and 10 more people at the registers- "if you spray it and someone wants to buy it then they cant return it". He states again "I havent sprayed anything". A few key notes here, he was the ONLY African American in the building, she did not say anything to him until I walked away AND she accused him multiple times when he hadn't sprayed anything at all. We left because he was embarrassed and angry, and called the store and spoke with a manager-who wasnt impressed. No cologne was sprayed, but there arent signs stating that cologne cant be sprayed. She didnt speak the same to the gentleman who was there before us, and I have never been spoken to about spraying or not spraying cologne in that store. I heard her from 30 feet away, and everyone was staring at my husband as if he HAD done something wrong. Hang it up lady.
