When we arrived at Treehouse Point, everybody was so professional and kind! We were given a quick tour of all of the amenities in the lodge and other community areas. Then, we were directed to our tree house, Ananda. Just wow! It was cozy as well as spacious, and it was very well appointed with everything we could possibly need! Even though there were other tree houses around ours, we ALL enjoyed total privacy. A great deal of attention has been made in creating personal experiences while still tending to developing a very unique community. All building materials in our treehouse were the best quality available, and the workmanship is second to none! We walked around the grounds, being respectful of others' privacy. Every tree house was unique and beautiful! We then took the trail down to the Raging River. It was beautiful, but our spring has been unusually dry, and the river a little thirsty. Overnight, a rainstorm came through the area. The sound coming from a refreshed river the next morning was breathtaking! I wanted to wake up so I could experience it all, but instead I slept through it. I guess I slept comfortably! (And I am not young.) The bath houses were beautiful and felt like individual spa rooms. They were supplied with wonderful bath products, and the shower offered a pampering experience. Similarly, special products and amenities were provided in our private unit, including coffee and tea. We were going to wash our few dishes, but no dish soap was found, further demonstrating Treehouse Point's intent to pamper their guests. After waking up in the trees, we prepared our own mugs of coffee, tea, and nibbles. After a peaceful start to the day, we made our way to the lodge for breakfast (feeding the fish along the way). Our own breakfast was absolutely wonderful! The chef and souz chef prepared several wonderful dishes. The selections and quality of preparation were both outstanding! Our visit was so wonderful that we truly didn't want to leave! We made the visit to fulfill a bucket list item, but we are already talking about returning again, this time with friends. I could go on and share more, but I want you to delight in your own experience, just as we had. If you've been considering a visit to Treehouse Point, wait no longer. You will never regret it!

What a difference 40 years makes…read more I was at the Salish Lodge on a business trip for a week in 1989, and it was one of the most lovely experiences I've ever had. By the end of the first day, every valet and front desk person knew all of us by name, and they bent over backward to be helpful and treat us like valued guests even though we were working an event and weren't the ones paying for the rooms. (Our company had bought out the entire lodge, which was much smaller at the time.) All the guest rooms at that time faced the river and had a beautiful view of it. Not so anymore, as they've renovated the lodge and many rooms have either no view or a view of trees (definitely beautiful) but not the river. The latter was our experience. There was a tiny glimpse to be had if you peered far off to the right, but otherwise our view was the trees. This was disappointing simply because we didn't know the place had been added on to and now had non-river view rooms. My husband, who had given me this trip as a Christmas present, was very disappointed and asked if there were any river view rooms available instead. Sure -- for $700. (No thanks.) We stayed in our $400+ tree view room instead, but honestly, this room is about $250 overpriced. For that price, one would expect everything to be in perfect condition, plus a large-ish room. Not the case in ours. It's smaller than the size of a standard La Quinta or Comfort Inn type of room, has no dresser or drawers to unpack your clothes (unless you remove the iron from the 6"x6" drawer it's stored in), and the "closet" is an IKEA-like unit in the entryway of the room. There's a fireplace, a TV, and a small desk, plus two chairs crammed into the corner, and a narrow balcony outside to listen to -- not see -- the river. The bathroom has a shower with two rain-style shower heads, so bring something to cover your hair if you don't want to drench it every time you shower. (The hotel doesn't provide shower caps -- only a small bottle of lotion and some Q-tips and a make-up removal wipe that doesn't remove makeup. It's just to keep you from getting it on the white towels.) As to the room's condition -- There are lamps on each side of the bed. Mine had a wonky switch that had to be jiggled just so in order to work. It's supposed to be dimmable, but mine was either on or off. There is also a reading light built into the headboard. Mine didn't work. Also, water was shooting out the side of one of the shower heads where it connects to the pipe in the wall. I did tell the front desk the next morning, and they offered to move us to another room. I didn't want to have to pack up all my stuff and move to another room that may have had less of a view than we already had, so I told them we were leaving for the day and asked that someone come in to fix the issues. They did, but about six hours after I put in the request, my husband received a text asking when it would be convenient for them to come in. Needless to say, communication between the staff isn't great. As of this writing (getting ready to check out on Day 4), now the fireplace isn't working. It stopped last nigh

Though we only had time for one night this year, Hideaway Lodge Bed & Breakfast is one of those places that left us relaxed and happy at the end of our stay. Gary and Carrol are wonderful hosts. The lodge, the room and the property are lovely. Everything was neat and clean. Breakfast was wonderful. "Wine Down Time" was a nice touch and there were fresh flowers waiting in our room for our anniversary. We enjoyed wandering the property the next morning. Woodenville has some great places to eat and downtown is walk around friendly. I highly recommend staying here if you are in need of a getaway!

Located on a bluff above Eagle Harbor, there is ample outdoor seating to enjoy the massive expanse of water and sky. A curving set of wood and stone steps lead down to the water where one can barbeque, go kayaking, sit and relax, or walk on the beach. I saw an eagle swoop on some cormorants that were sitting out on a floating dais (they dove and easily escaped him). The view of Mt. Rainier from the beach is unique and if one walks down a ways one can see the Seattle skyline. The place is everything it is advertised to be: the windows overlook Eagle Harbor with the ferries coming and going, the kitchen is well equipped and the stove has gas burners, the bed is very comfortable, the television has more channels than I would ever watch, Wi Fi is free, the bathroom is clean and the showerhead is powerful. The owners were friendly and honored my privacy. Photographers, artists, birdwatchers, couples, small families, kayakers, an individual looking to relax - I could go on - will all find something here. I found true peace and quiet.

The owners live upstairs but I never heard/saw them, however, they make it very clear in the information they email you that should you need ANYTHING during your stay don't hesitate to just let them know. Breakfast is included and is tasty but heavy on pastries and sugary items (berry compote with granola and yogurt, pancakes), over protein which is my personal preference.

This summer was my first visit since the new ownership took over. If you've never stayed at the Inn before, you'll likely have a wonderful experience. But for returning guests, as other recent reviews have mentioned, there have been some noteworthy and disappointing changes. So this is mostly a heads-up to returning guests, or perhaps feedback the new owners will consider. First, the positives: the location is absolutely wonderful. The rooms and views can't be beat, and Langley will always be one of my favorite places to stay. The staff was pleasant and very responsive when we had a small issue with our cottage. They quickly made things right and went above and beyond what we expected. That said, I agree with other reviewers that the changes have taken away much of the charm, warmth, and welcoming feeling I loved about the Inn. It feels like the owners implemented "improvements" that may have worked in their other ventures and assumed they'd work here, too. I don't think the changes added value to the Inn and, in some instances, did the opposite. * We were sad to see the Inn no longer uses Sweet Sisters for its toiletries. Sweet Sisters is a local shop that created the Inn's signature scent years ago (forest + sea ... the BEST scent). I loved that the previous owners supported a small local business. The new products aren't bad; they're just standard boutique-hotel products. I'm curious why the new owners chose not to continue that relationship. * While every staff member I interacted with was nice, I didn't see a single familiar face. I don't know whether previous employees chose not to return or weren't given the opportunity, but it felt odd and sad not to see anyone from before. * The lobby layout has changed. It used to feel more welcoming, with complimentary snacks and items to purchase. Now the check-in desk is immediately inside, and those things are gone (snacks are now in the rooms). It's not a major issue, but it doesn't feel like "value added." We used to enjoy stopping in for a snack and chatting with whoever was working. Now there's little reason to go in after check-in. * Our biggest disappointment was breakfast. The complimentary breakfast under the previous ownership felt special and was something we looked forward to every morning. Now it feels like an afterthought. We skipped it our second day because the first was so lackluster. * The new breakfast system requires filling out a card the day before, choosing whether you'll dine in or have breakfast delivered, and selecting a time. I understand advance notice for room service, but I didn't enjoy committing to a restaurant time the night before. I go to the Inn to relax, not to worry about dropping off a card before the lobby closes and making it to breakfast at a specific time. * The breakfast itself left much to be desired. The egg dish looked cool and tasted fine, but the pastry was somewhat dry and not particularly enjoyable. We were also given a whole plain piece of fruit and half an avocado, with oil drizzled on it. I think they could have done something more special with those items, especially when much of the Inn's current advertising is about their new Michelin star chef. Compared with the previous stellar breakfast, I expected more effort. The food was fresh and nothing was bad; it just did not come close to what the previous owners provided. Again, the change decreased the value for me. * Lastly, we were disappointed by the changes to the restaurant for dinner. My mom is vegetarian and I'm pescatarian. The previous owners made sure vegetarians had their own version of every course (when asked ahead of time), and primarily served seafood, which worked well for me. The new chef, at least as stated on the website, does not accommodate dietary restrictions, and the menu is very meat-heavy. Because of that, we didn't dine there, so I can't speak to the food itself. We were disappointed that the restaurant is no longer an option for us, and we certainly don't feel we'd be welcomed there based on how it's advertised. These changes left us feeling less welcomed and made us wonder about the kind of business we were supporting. Between seeing no familiar employees, moving away from a small local business, and a dining experience that now feels less thoughtful and inclusive, the Inn has lost some of the warmth and sense of community that feels so characteristic of Langley itself. We still had a lovely stay, and I'm sure I'll return because I adore Langley and the Inn's location is hard to beat. But my expectations will be lower. I'll know I'm primarily going for the location and town, rather than the Inn itself. If prices increase, however, I likely wouldn't return because, in my opinion, these changes have decreased the value rather than added to it.
