Staff is just not very friendly when i go in. I stopped shopping here because of this. There's a perfectly good hardware store downtown norway next to the post office. i recommend that one. There's lots of hardware stores around, i'd rather shop where the staff is friendly and welcoming. read more

After spending thousands and thousands of dollars building an entire house using Lofholms materials with no major issues, I felt comfortable having them install the kitchen cabinets they sold me, and the countertops they fabricated. The wall mounted cabinets are at different elevations, many of the door handles are mounted cockeyed, they had to move an electrical outlet to fit the hole they made in the backsplash, and the countertop they fabricated is falling apart after only 5 years. After weeks of trying to get management to do something about the countertop they finally offered to repair it. I explained that due to the crappy work in the first place, repair was not an option and asked for (at least) a partial refund. That was 4 weeks ago and I expect, much like their poor workmanship, I'll be left unhappy. They don't seem to understand that the "loyal to local business" concept is supposed to work both ways. read more

This business has integrity. They don't try to sell me the most expensive item when I go there. Instead, they strive to sell me the item that would help me the most (I was buying an air conditioner at the time). I am a repeat customer because I know that when I go in there I will get expert advice from people that want to genuinely want to help me instead of being concerned about commisions! read more

It seems most people use Yelp to review restaurants, bars, hotels etc and leave the contractors to…read moreAngie's List, but the heck with it; here goes... My gf and I recently had Carey Contracting do an extensive bathroom/laundry room remodel. They were top notch - professional, offered good, clear communication, were quick, did good work, and were fair priced. They used (with necessary modification) our plans which required demolition, reframing, insulation, replacing and rerouting plumbing, electrical, window(s) installation, tiling, paneling and trim work. They also installed a non-standard door in our old log home. Some of this work required subcontractors, who despite one hiccup, performed well. I had previously contacted three smaller area contractors, none of who could even be bothered to return my calls and/or provide an estimate until a "week or so". One contractor even indicated he would not bid on the job if we pursued a competitive bidding process. One call to Carey and we had a walkthrough of the potential remodel area the next day, and a estimate the following week. Approximately six weeks after the start of the demolition we now have a brand new bathroom that is not only highly functional but beautiful.

They estimated when they said they would. They did the work they said they would and I have to say it was a very pleasant experience. They honor their word. This summer I'm building a large pole garage at my place and guess who got the nod? That's right, Carey Contracting. Believe me, if I had not been satisfied with the fire rebuild then I would have chosen another contractor. No hesitation on my part; if you want honest work at a fair price, go with Carey!
