This playground is fully fenced and the entire space has a rubber flooring. There is a drinking fountain, tap, table/chair and BBQ all within close proximity to the playground. Unfortunately there isn't any shelter/shade over the table but with the massive gum trees in the park, there is some shade depending on the time you visit. This is a great place to come but for me, it slightly falls short of my 'destination' playground status. Maybe I'm having a bad day lol. There's PLENTY of space to kick a ball or throw a frisbee outside of the fenced playground area. *Dogs allowed* *Drinking fountain and tap* *Table/chair area (not sheltered)* *BBQ* *Toilets (walking distance)*

My kind of park is one that has a great moat of green protecting a toilet right in the middle. Nothing else actually matter. And a drinking fountain too? Benissimo! There's a wide area and plenty of space to play with balls. There's your usual playground. There's a barbecue. And that's about it. But there's nothing more you need. Of course, there could, perhaps, be a little more shade. We're in Australia, after all, not Siberia. But, regardless, this is a nice park. If it's your local park, it's worth being proud of.

Then when I checked out the actual KINGS RESERVE I became excited! There's parking down Meyer Street, down near the Thebarton Aquatic Centre and it's the closest you will be able to get the car to the playground. There's a lot of equipment for a variety of age groups and abilities.There's also a skate park and basketball hoop not too far from the playground. Bring some sausages and use the BBQ....your children will be here for quite a while! There are toilets, a drinking fountain, table/chairs and more than enough space to do any sort of activity you would like (provided there aren't sporting groups using the space). Lots of fun to be had here! Perhaps the only thing missing that would make me feel more comfortable about staying here for a long time is that there isn't a great deal of shade. King's Reserve is a pleasant park in Thebarton, perfect for kids, barbecues, skating, playing…read moresoccer or having a picnic. It doesn't exactly go above and beyond, but it serves the local community well. My main gripe is that the local football team put chains over the goal posts so they can be used by the community - despite the fact that our rates pay for the field! I like to come and kick around a bit with friends occasionally and it would be nice to actually use the posts. Conveniently the reserve is just across the road from the Brickies, so we pop over there for a beer after the game. Other than this, I'm pretty satisfied. There is bubblers and shady spots (could be a few more of these, but not a big problem), a kid's playground and a skateboarding bit.

It's 12kms to the city from Henley which we found was about 2 1/2 - 3 hours walking time; don't do this with a pram, because you have walk back and funnily enough 2 yr olds get restless and angry! it's a really nice trail though and we plan to do it again but on bikes instead, there are a lot of bike riders along here and it would be that much quicker, it's 3 hours you might get all the way to the foot hills. Bike hire is free from designated outlets along the ride, so you don't have to lug your own bike to the trail (I live in the hills so this is great for me) and you can get a helmet too, yay because I don't actually have one.

We rode the entire length of Linear Park this weekend. (Yes my butt hurts now!)…read more We started in Henley Beach and rode through to the city. This stretch is very pleasant with lots of little spots to sit down and enjoy the surroundings, watch some horses horsing around and generally enjoy the serenity. The path does get quite narrow in spots so be careful of lycra riders rushing past. The highlight was coming up the ramp under South Road to what felt like the middle of the cemetery. Have a sit and a coffee in Elder Park. We then rode past the zoo and towards the East of Adelaide keeping pretty much in line with the Autobahn. This section is more Australian bush scenery than beachy/urban Adelaide. You could really forget that suburbia is sprawling out all around you. The smell of the blue green algae is a bit gross at the moment but I'm assuming that doesn't last all year. I recommend going from the beach in and then turning back as there is a slight rise. I always like to go downhill on the way home. It is not a difficult ride at all and we saw lots of kids, families and elderly doing the whole track.

This is really evidence of the value of the local Council in this area; not just a Memorial Garden…read morebut a place you can bring your dog on a leash, a place you can have a barbecue and a place you can sit quietly and have a picnic or watch the kids play in a covered (sun smart) playground. Not every area has something as lush as this, and yes it is directly behind the Council Chambers, but it is also close to a couple of schools and Churches and the Library is next door so it is in a very good place for what it is. I am all in favour of green spaces that are central and likely to be used just as I am in favour of the little reserve in the suburban street.

There's no fencing around the outside but it's not too busy in the surrounding streets, especially over where the 2, yes 2, playgrounds are! Which is the opposite side to where the clubrooms are, over the rear side of the oval. There are two separate playgrounds but close by to each other. One of them even has a BBQ right nearby. Plenty of seating, tables and chairs, sheltered area's as well as shade from tree's, all around this reserve. Plus there are some tennis courts over near the toilets. Plenty of parking in the streets surrounding it but the if you want ot do a BBQ and be near the playgrounds I would recommend parking at the dead end of Birdwood Avenue. Really easy and closeby. Not too far to walk to the toilets. Great place to spend an entire day out! Bring some extra things to play with on the grassed area's and maybe some tennis stuff and you could spend ages here. Kids could easily be kept occupied for hours at this one.

The only bad part about this playground is the lack of fencing (although it's not really needed I…read moredon't think here) and the bad parking as the park is basically at the end of three dead ends. However it is a nice, very shady, very green area. It looks new and fresh, or maybe just recently had a little lift. And on the day I went it appeared to be a well used area as well. The playground has some great different items in it to play on that made the kids enjoy it more. There's also a sheltered area, plenty of seating, drinking fountains, rubbish bin, even a couple of tennis courts. The grassed space is beautiful and there are enough buildings, shelters, tree's, etc to be able to have a great game of chasey or even hide and seek here. I love parks where you can play heaps of games without actually having to take anything. There are no BBQ's but it wold be just devine to have a lovely picnic here.
