Ultimately, I selected Wee Gather because of the services they offered and the excellent reviews on Yelp. I originally requested January 8th as the party date, but Sierra (my party coordinator) said this date was no longer available and suggested January 15th, which I booked. I had the Custom Gathering which included venue rental for two hours (I paid $125 for an extra hour, for a total of three hours), setup + clean up, tables + chairs, themed event design + styling + decorating of event space, coordinator for the planning process, themed decor + serve water, balloon garland w/custom colors, flowers, coffee bar, fully stocked mini fridge, use of projector and patio area, and access to additional furnishings (which will have extra fees depending on what you rent). This info is from the from Wee Gather website. I booked the space on 12/2/22, a little over a month before the event (01/15/23). At the time of booking, the Custom Gathering w/extra hour + rental of cooler cost me $1,150 ($975 for the Custom Gathering, $125 the extra hour, and $50 for the cooler rental). On the website, the Custom Gathering now starts at $1,299. My party coordinator, Sierra Mathews, was excellent in executing the Super Mario theme of my son's 1st Birthday Party and was super responsive whenever I had inspiration pictures or any small changes to the proposal. I even toured the venue a couple of weeks before the event. Sierra, Oceana, and Amber decorated the space so beautifully and was so gracious to help my family and I bring in the food we had catered from various restaurants of my choosing (you can also request catering from Wee Gather, who most likely have connections to caterers). The projector came in handy because I made a PowerPoint with transitions to show the growth of my son over the year and also the speaker for the music. If you are looking for an awesome space to host a kid's birthday or baby shower, this is the place. The cost is totally worth it because I am a busy mom and Sierra and her team literally did everything, I just provided the inspiration photos for the them. All the guests had a good time and loved the theme. Although my son was a little fussy throughout the party (not used to so many people), I think he secretly enjoyed the party. She then offered a 20% refund and asked me to change my review, which I again declined. She claimed that despite paying for full event planning services, the event was subpar because I hadn't been involved in planning it. They didn't call. They didn't ask me to go their warehouse. They didn't do anything until the week of the event, when they tried to fit me into their random available times to walk them through my space via FaceTime. To clarify, I paid $2,000 for someone to plan and orchestrate an event. What I received was maybe a $200-$300 setup, and it's apparently my fault for not planning the event I paid someone to plan. She argued that I should have requested changes during the setup. However, I wasn't home at the time. The whole point of hiring this service was to arrive at a fully set-up event with my guests. When I arrived, they were still setting up as my guests were arriving (even though they were supposed to have been gone by then). So, there wasn't time to make changes, and it would have been an awkward conversation anyway. Instead of blaming me, they should have done the job they were paid to do or not sold the package in the first place. To add insult to injury, she compared this situation to eating a pizza and then requesting a refund. This was over $2k. It's not even close to ordering a pizza and asking for a refund. She ripped me off. I stand by my request for a full refund. She should have offered that refund on her own. This event was pitiful. I will never use their services again or recommend them to anyone.

BMR was in charge of day-of coordinating and decorating/arrangement for my wedding this past…read moreAugust. As I live in Philadelphia but had the wedding take place in my hometown of San Diego, the last days, and many more besides, were hectic! Who knew weddings could be a cause of family drama, eh? BMR made my family's backyard, which is where the reception took place, look absolutely magical. We had purchased our flowers by walking into a flower warehouse- BMR's team arranged them for the centerpieces, made boutonnieres and my bouquet, all done perfectly. We had rented the tables, chairs, table-cloths and all other fancy miscellanea, and enlisted one of my relatives to bring over bundles of themed items- BMR set everything up and had it looking far better than I imagined it could look. Mandy, the owner/manager, had, er, managed to use some cheap white cloth as a covering to our ugly plywood overhang. It was a similar look to those tent rentals that are becoming popular. As far as I know, my parents have kept it, it looks so lovely and uses so little to add a punch. There are other things I must be forgetting, but hopefully the picture is coming together of all the work The creme de la creme was a huge, we're talking 10'x5'?, banner that was hung to block our wonderful but unsightly neighbor's yard. It was custom to match our wedding invitation font, completely BMR's idea. It also matched our logo, which was a bit unusual (octopus&silkworm) but was made to retain elegance. My husband loved it and still talks about it. Our reception was gorgeous, and BMR worked incredibly hard to make it so. This was made even more difficult by the aforementioned family drama and too many wannabe chiefs. BMR still managed to fix everything in a creative, cost-friendly (due to our own needs), breathtaking way all the while calmly dealing with family madness. If you are looking for someone with a knack for pulling a mess together,stirring it all up, and then serving a gorgeous brew, this company is for you.

We hired her specifically for day-of coordination, and according to our contract, the vendor coordination service included advance preparation and day-of coordination. Based on this description, we expected her to be proactive in making sure everything was organized, that decorations were set up, and that the ceremony started on time. We figured that someone offering advance preparation and day-of coordination would help oversee these details or, at the very least, make sure everything was running according to schedule. Unfortunately, we did not feel that there was any preparation beforehand or much coordination on the actual wedding day. When I arrived at our wedding, I was disappointed to see my now-husband and mother-in-law coordinating and handling everything themselves while our coordinator was sitting off to the side. The whole reason we hired a coordinator was so that our family could enjoy the day without having to worry about managing everything. This was our first and, hopefully, last wedding, so we genuinely did not know what to expect or what all went into coordinating a wedding. Since day-of coordination was a service she advertised on her website, we trusted that she was experienced and well-versed in what needed to be done. We relied on her expertise and assumed she would take the initiative to make sure things were taken care of. Looking back, I wish there had been more communication and clarity about what her role would actually involve, because what we experienced was not what we expected when purchasing this service. We also purchased a microphone and speaker service through her, and unfortunately, both cut out during our personal vows. I completely understand that technical difficulties happen and that not everything will go perfectly on a wedding day, but this was such a personal and meaningful moment for us, so it was especially disappointing. Overall, I understand that weddings can be hectic and unexpected things happen, but we hired a coordinator specifically to help take that stress off our shoulders. Instead, my husband and family were still left managing things on a day when they should have been able to relax and enjoy the celebration. I don't expect perfection, but I do expect the services advertised and paid for to be carried out with preparation, communication, and initiative. Unfortunately, that was not our experience. For such an important day, I really wish we had received better support and coordination. I was left feeling disappointed, especially knowing that some of that stress fell on my husband and family when it shouldn't have had to.
