An amazing adventure day for the whole family! Cannot recommend him enough! Kyle brought drinks, snacks, towels, incredible knowledge, and a wonderful personality. He personalizes the tour to what we wanted to see and we loved talking with all day and listening to his incredible knowledge of Maui. Can't wait to book again with him! It was an absolute highlight of our trip.

Combined with the fact that the road to Hana is nicknamed "the Road to divorce", well that made it an easy decision to go along with it. I am so glad I did! Kyle was an amazing tour guide. Not only was he well prepared for the trip with snacks and drinks, the vehicle was extremely comfortable, and he provided a running commentary all along the way of facts and history. Best of all, he stopped at places which people who were driving themselves would never know about. We would literally pass dozens of cars parked on the side of the road only to go down the way about a mile, pull off on some side road, and find an even better more secluded beach to swim. First part was ok. Cory was very chatty and knowledgeable. We stopped to get helmets and jackets ( although the jackets were basically useless and not lined nor kept me warm). Arrived over an hour before sunrise... Cory's part ended and the bike portion started. To not rehash the entire thing, Russ was the leader and although he went over safety rules, he really didn't seem that concerned: big distances between riders, he mixed me up with another rider, chewed me out and told me I wasn't following directions and would not listen to me tell him otherwise;; later he said he couldn't tell us apart and I was the only one not in black/gray; it was a small group of 8 and there was a huge distance between the first two riders; he started off saying that the heaviest people would be the fastest-/ I was the lightest/ smallest and he told me I needed to go faster to catch up; he and the first rider who was a big girl and originally nervous and why she was in front were literally several hundred YARDS ahead of me ( and therefore everyone else); didn't go over speed bump navigation or hand signals until the last stop ( and there were multiple stops); I needed my bike adjusted bc the seat was too low and hurt my knees and he told me it was mostly cruising anyway and ignored my request after I told him I had had 2 knee surgeries.Appeared very condescending to me after the first incident. He also said if the directions aren't followed / he feels a rider is unsafe that he will have them sit in the van and that's the end of their ride---The sad thing was that one of the riders who went down literally less than a minute from the end and was taken away by ambulance..and she was the one he confused with me the very first part and obviously didn't follow his own safety instructions...but even their safety/ 911 protocol was unacceptable-- took them a while to call 911after she went down. Didn't seem like he knew how to handle the situation. Had two of the riders direct traffic using the companies walkie talkies and the batteries died ( aren't they supposed to be fully charged every ride???...)then Russ tells me after that he is certified as a first responder as he takes a 40 hour course yearly. Very pompous and showed no critical decision making skills the entire trip ( I am a physical therapist, 35+ years)....no tip for him. I highly recommend he be fired and welcome the owner to contact me through Yelp. Anthony, the assistant (driver) was very nice and helpful but the scary thing is he said that Russ is their best tour leader :0 Beautiful ride otherwise (5/5) DO NOT BOOK WITH THIS COMPANY

I was a little nervous because it seemed to be a newer company and I couldn't find reviews, but leading up to the day the tour operator (Steven) was super responsive and proactive via text and email, asking and confirming that we were aware of the high altitude of the hike and could do that. The hike itself was amazing - easily my favorite thing I did on my Maui trip. We hit three hikes throughout the day and I can't say enough about Steven's guidance. He was incredibly knowledgeable and shared so so much about the landscape, nature, history, cultural tidbits, and other stories of the area/what we were seeing. I was super grateful for that because it felt like a thoughtful experience, rather than a generic overdone tour. He was also very good about managing everyone's different hiking skill levels/paces so that folks were comfortable and could go at whatever pace they wanted. It wasn't strict or boring at all. Oh also Steven was so kind in taking pics for people/stopping when there was a good shot. If you're wondering about whether to do this one, definitely go for it! We had a beautiful day and we had three hikes with a total of about five to six miles. Nothing strenuous but amazing views. Had a wonderful lunch in a picnic area in a grove of massive trees. I could…read moredetail the tour and talk about all the great views but that is pretty much the same with all the bike tour companies that go up the volcano. Since we have toured with other companies, I want to tell you what I think Maui Bombers does better. If you want general information about the route, check their website. Communication- instead of only getting canned responses from the internet reservation program you get messages from Matt that respond back to his cell phone. Small Group- only six in our group. We jumped in a Honda Pilot and headed up the volcano with Matt and Eric. The small group size created a more intimate experience. We talked with each other, shared experiences and had laughs. Matt and Eric joined our conversations as well. We all got to know each other a little bit. You don't get that on a bus with 15 other people. Hospitality- we were taken care of by the guys who run the company not employees who may or may not have the best interest of the company in mind. Matt fresh baked treats for us and worked to make everyone feel like family. Seriously, Matt could also be a baking star with his Coconut Muffins and Lilikoi Bars. Guess Eric doesn't bake, but he does drive well. Equipment- we rode newer Trek mountain bikes with street tires. Comfortable helmets, windbreakers and gloves also provided if you like. Upgrade from the single speed heavy cruiser bikes most tour companies use. The Treks are nimble and easy to ride. Tour Route- we had a longer tour route than other companies, on the way down we passed the other groups loading up while we were on the way to the beach. Personality- Matt is a loud energetic let's have fun kinda of guy, great for a guide. Played inspirational music from his bike to keep the energy up. Did I mention Matt is loud and animated? Eric is a little more reserved but is there to take care of business loading/unloading bikes, driving the safety car and just making sure everything is great. Great team, very professional. Safety- I don't mean to imply that you will be unsafe on any of the other tours but we felt safe and taken care of on our tour with Maui Bombers. Good bike check and safety briefing and hand signals. I appreciate that Matt leads the way, warning if necessary and making turns on the correct roads. Eric followed behind in the safety car keeping traffic at bay and letting Matt know when we needed to find a pull off spot to let traffic pass. We saw one tour where the guide followed the pack, yikes...guide following? Our tour also left a little later allowing most of the local and tourist traffic to clear the volcano and villages so we had the road pretty much to ourselves. Photos and Videos- along the tour Matt takes photos and videos of the group and scenery. While that is not unique, on the way back Matt airdrops all the photos and videos to everyone. No extra charge and they are great quality. Really nice perk. Price- Maui bombers was a bit higher than some of the others but you know what, you get what you pay for. Small group, equipment, snacks, photos...yeah, you get what you pay for. The Real Deal- Matt and Eric are the guys. They take care of you like their business and reputation depends on it because it does. The energy is great. These are the reasons for my five star review of Maui Bombers. Highly recommended.

He left it up to me if I wanted to do that or cancel. We were game and we said let's go. Pick up was easy. Plus Matt does small parties. We start off with the coconut pineapple muffin he made. Which was insanely delicious. Then he says"we are going to drive up and double check to see if we can get in because there has been no updates". We got lucky and we made it up the mountain as they had fixed the sink hole and the road was clear. We were the only ones up there because the other bike company did not even try. So that was a big bonus. We had one in our party decide it was too dangerous and Matt handled that perfectly. And then she tried to bike an easier part and quit. He handled that perfectly too. Then we got to check out Makawao for 20 min. Which was cool. Then we rode all the way down to Pa'ia. And met him at Baldwin Beach area. 17 total miles of bike riding. All easy coasting. Of course the first 7 miles is all switchbacks and thrilling. With Matt you do not have to wear motorcycle helmets, you wear bike helmets. Matt provides that and optional bike gloves. He even has wind breakers if you forget yours. We all had the best bike ride of our lives. No joke. We are still talking about it today. And actually that is not a bike ride. That is a thrill ride. All those switchbacks etc. Matt drives you back to your car at Target. He gives you a second treat. His passion fruit squares. These were very delicious too. But I personally liked the coconut pineapple muffin better. We will most likely do this again if we come back to Maui. It is that good. Hitting the red button now.
