Grocery store, bakery, a gym, Target, Ulta, Old Navy, TJ Max, Bath & Body Works, Rite Aid to name a few and several places to eat. Restaurants are more upgraded fast food options where you can sit down but not table service. Parking can get pretty busy if you try to get close by at rush times but there is plenty of it and it's free. Between the mall directly across the street versus this center, Peninsula Shopping Center has done a good job of attracting businesses and it's much better than the mall. That said, the mall is improving and they can complement each other. I rarely have to go off the hill which I appreciate.

[Review #817] 2024-016…read more Opened in the 1960s, Rolling Hills Plaza is an eclectic outdoor shopping center with restaurants & shops, anchored by AMC Theatres & 24-Hour Fitness. I first visited this plaza to watch movies with friends in the late 1990s. And on some nights with new movie openings, the lines were so long they wrapped around the building. Yikes! There's been a lot of turnover the last couple of decades that I can't remember some of the earlier tenants. A fav Japanese restaurant with a large diverse dessert menu had closed, replaced by Hakata Yamaya (renamed as Yamaya). Most recently, SHIOK! Asian Street Food (family fav for delish sandwiches & boba drinks) was closed due to downturn from the COVID-19 pandemic, replaced with Hanky's Hot Chicken, followed by Tap Society Brews & Bites (its sister Caps & Corks is still open) all within 4 years. Not sure why this particular spot always had high turnover. Bed Bath & Beyond is another former resident that I often shopped at for home goods, especially when I first moved to the South Bay. Although I no longer visit this AMC as much, I still shop & dine fairly regularly at the plaza: Trader Joe's, Whole Foods, Nijiya Market, Yi Fang Taiwan Fruit Tea, Mendocino Farms, Lunasia Dim Sum House, Stonefire Grill, Nice China Cafe, Pinwheel Cafe Bakery, Sidecar Doughnuts & Coffee, California Pizza Kitchen, Veggie Grill, Iccho Restaurant, Kabab Curry of India, Fanoos Grill. I'm sure there are others that I missed (supposedly there's 80+ eateries & retail tenants). While parking is plentiful, vacancies are challenging during lunch & dinner rushes, & weekends. Rolling Hills Plaza is one of the larger outdoor spaces for one-stop dining, shopping, & entertainment for the whole family... workout, grab a coffee, shop, dine, & watch a movie in one go.

There is also a giant parking lot attached in the back of the shopping area, so parking is very easy. They have a ton of apparel with Hermosa Beach designs, but they also have many other brands and many other different types of gifts. I was also given a gift because I spent over $100. I hear there's talks of demolition and turning this place into a residential and commercial area. October 2026, this mall was rented out to Anime Night Mart. TONS of vendors on the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd floor. Lots of little stands and creative art pieces for sale. There were so many to see and a lot of competition. It was my first time seeing this event and I had a blast. Even won a prize! A large mousepad. Also got free tote bags. I've never seen the mall packed like this for years. It hasn't been this crowded since way before Covid. This mall has sadly become empty with stores shutting down. I'm glad to see this kind of event bring foot traffic and traction back into the mall and bringing business. They should do this here more often. People flew in and traveled from all over to be here. Visitors also dressed up in cosplay. Such a fun event! Met some people, visited lots of vendors, and took pictures with some hosts. They even had a dj playing music. The mall was jam packed with vendors, they were everywhere. It was a free event but we got a free giveaway gift bag with freebies just for scanning our QR code with the team.

This is the place to come to when you want to see what happens to a former thriving mall when mall culture no longer exists, and to get your steps in. It's air conditioned and quiet. Many of the spaces are for lease. There was a business where you can rent the space to take selfies with the full lighting and background setups. The only two stores I visited were the two large second hand stores. The one downstairs is mostly women's and the one upstairs is only men's. Service, selection and prices were great at both. They both sell clothing, shoes, and accessories. Cash discount. Parking: There is plenty of parking surrounding the entire mall, and it's free.

When the shopping center opened in 1981, there was a lot of hope; but retail trends shifted over time. Now, the center focuses on serving as a community hub, hosting plenty of special events for locals. There are many nice restaurants and even a new bowling alley. There's a skate rink. Other experiences are set to open soon. It's a nice place to hang out.

It's still an open air shopping center but they're putting a big emphasis on community gathering. They do a lot of events like a Spring Carnival and Egg Hunt. They also upgraded the ice rink under the LA Kings brand. There's also lots of new restaurants. I found a new favorite via Pho Red Bo and I spotted a yummy dessert spot via Fika Fika Creamery. Though lots of change, it was nice to see Regal Promenade still here. This movie theatre was my go- to movie theatre a few years back and I have found memories of this spacious (not crowded) theatre. Overall, I was happy to visit the new Promenade PV. It's nice to see this outdoor area gaining more popularity and it's so refreshing to see the new restaurants and events they have here.

It's not crazy crowded like Manhattan Beach. I mostly like the shops & restaurants more than I like those in Hermosa Beach. The Village is changing, over the past few years. A couple of long-time ladies' dress shops are gone - places where you could buy formal wear. In one case the owner retired. But Papillon is still goin' strong for your fancy dress wear. Dennee's furniture store relocated. Gus Vintage is gone (miss you!). Fernando's moved in, after 3 decades in Hermosa (appreciate the place, always have). These are all local/family-owned & operated businesses. As is Turquoise Restaurant (love it) & Green Temple. And Dion Gallery - Jeff Dion does my framing. And Desserts By Patrick: the real deal for French pastries. Patrick owned a family pastry shop in Paris. He's in Riviera Village now, baking up a delicious storm for the past few years. If in Redondo, put Patrick's at the top of your must-visit list. I also like Finley's Jewelers, Ten Thousand Villages, Card de A, The Monogram Shoppe & Huckleberry's. And Dr. Oku, my optometrist - she's the best. Shout-out to Riviera Quality Cleaners, where miracles happen. Like removal of nacho sauce handprints from all over my white hoodie (don't ask what happened). And the Village Runner, where I've bought my Brooks athletic shoes for years. They know how to fit you for a shoe. And The Catalina Cooking Store....wow. There's nothing I will ever need for the kitchen that can't be found here & customer service is stellar. I could live without Chicago for Ribs. I lived in Chicago for decades, grew up there...so when it comes to pizza, hot dogs & ribs....well...stand in a line around the block for mouthwatering ribs at 3am on the South Side of Chicago & then tell me about good ribs. I also could live without the money-gobbling parking meters in the Village. The village lot is cheaper than the street meters but it's still a rip. And when Starbucks expanded/remodeled, the city put meters in the 5 free street parking spaces that used to be out in front. Poo. Trader Joe's is in the Village. I rarely go there any more. If you do, beware their crazy parking lot. The Village could use a little independent grocery store, but I don't mind driving 10 min to Lunada Market & Deli in Palos Verdes Estates. I do mind driving to Pages Bookstore in Manhattan Beach. It's absolutely wonderful & I wish Riviera Village had a place just like it. I also continue to search for a great burger in the Village & have high hopes for the new Rockefeller gastropub, owned & operated by South Bay locals. Activities in Riviera Village include the annual summer street fair in June, where you'll find good bands, rides for kids, food, booths with handmade stuff. Fun! The Village closes to traffic to hold a party for kids every Halloween, the reason I have no trick-or-treaters (it must be a good party). The Holiday Stroll happens the first Thursday after Thanksgiving, complete with a parade. And now there's First Fridays in The Village, food & music (I can hear out my window). The weekly farmers market has moved from Fridays to Sunday mornings & it's decent. Never forget this Village is spittin' distance from the beach. If you don't want sand in your shoes you can just walk along the Esplanade & take in the views/sunsets. So yeah, there's a reason I've lived here so many years. Whenever I think about moving, I think about all the things I'd miss.

But it has been awhile prior to our first restaurant run. Truly a great beachside destination. Plenty of eateries (and many of them dog friendly!) and shops for everyone's budget. The beach is literally a block or two away and parking isn't horrendously expensive unlike some other beaches or shorelines. (A buck and a half per hour is a steal!) It's a pretty chill and kickback area. Some grub spots have live bands/music you can vibe to. But the best part of the village is definitely walking by the shores! The views. Of the water alongside the mountains are breathtaking. I imagine the best time to come through is during the spring and summer. We have yet to experience the area during the fall and winter seasons. We do intend to find out, though! Will update as needed!

Del Amo Mall is a favorite for its size and variety of stores, but it's been a good while since our…read morelast visit. We returned to dine at Din Tai Fung with our niece and her husband. We parked on the side between Barnes & Noble and North Italia. As we came through the mall entrance we were surprised to see a Pop Mart pop-up, which was larger than some stores in other malls. The permanent store is still under construction, so we assumed this was a preview for Pop Mart fans like our daughter. We didn't have time to walk the entire mall after dinner, but the parts we did see were redone to be modern and bright with comfortable seating throughout. Many of the stores now have larger floor plans. There are also much more dining and snack options. We hope to see the rest of it the next time we visit our niece.

Parking is free here. I have been here a few times throughout the years. I drive by a couple time a month, but don't stop in the plaza much. I recently came here to check out Bada Coffee. It replaced Starbucks. There's a nice fountain outside which is great to watch & listen to while sipping coffee. The shops here are: Bada Coffee Ralphs Dollar Tree Jack's Pizza Great Clips Peninsula Urgent Care Dentists of South Bay Sally Beauty Supply Cleaners Taco Bell is at the corner of Calle Mayor & PCH. Not sure how this plaza got its' name, but there is a huge Plaza Mayor that was completed in Madrid, Spain in 1619. That plaza looks to be so different from this one. Looking on Google, there is no count of how many "Plaza Mayor"are in the world! It simply translates to "Main Plaza" but is usually a central public square. Signage with the list of stores here is outdated. They need to update them.
