My husband and I came here on a Sat/Sun morning, I called ahead of time to see if we needed reservations and we did not. Upon arrival we were seated immediately, since they were not busy. The décor is cute, rustic with fresh red roses on every table, since it was the weekend after Valentines. We started off with mimosas, which our server said were awesome and order of deviled eggs. 2 mimosas took at minimum of 5+ minutes to arrive to our table but once they did, they were enjoyable. The deviled eggs were actually pretty flavorful as well. The brunch menu is small but has a variety of items. I ordered eggs benedict & my husband ordered the sausage hash. I was so disappointed with my eggs benedict. Once they put the plate down I could tell that the eggs were over cooked. I touched the egg and it was solid. Benedicts need a nice gooey egg to cut into that oozes over the plate. This was not that, it was essentially a soft boiled egg. Traditional benedicts are served on top of an English muffin, these were homemade biscuits, which had enough salt to preserve forever. The dish was completely dry with the minimal amount of hollandaise sauce and lack of yolk. My husband enjoyed his sausage hash, but again the egg served with it, which was supposed to be an over easy, was entirely overdone. He also sauced it with enough catsup and hot sauce to cover up any lack of potential flavor. I contemplated letting our server know of the state of the food, but they never came back to check on us. I even had to order an additional mimosa from a passing server who inquired if we would like one. However, they were on top of their water. We had our water glasses constantly filled. Annoyingly actually, they never asked. One of the last times our glasses were filled they reached over both of our dishes while eating to grab the glass and fill it, flannel shirt fuzz grazing the top of food. At that point I was done eating any ways but was in utter shock. Awesome!! We were in town for a sporting event at Georgetown College and happened on this place for dinner, it was Valentines Day and we got lucky with a table in the bar. Started with a Delicious gin fizz and my husband had the rum punch. We ordered the deviled eggs and beet salad to share, I don't even like deviled eggs but my husband said to try them and I'm glad I did .... so good, as was the beet salad. I had chicken and dumplings and he had beef stroganoff, first, we loved they came in the Corning Ware dishes we grew up with as kids, blue flowers, second, the dinner was very good. My husbands only complaint was fresh ground pepper was to course. My chicken dish was perfect especially if it's chilly out or you have a cold. Just like your mom makes. A colleague took a large group of us here for a business dinner. It was amazing. We ordered the brussels sprouts, mac and cheese, maple and lemon carrots and beets as appetizers. We also ordered most of the entrees on the menu. To be honest, as a person from Nor-Cal, I didn't expect Kentucky to be completely awesome, beautiful, interesting with amazing food. First time here after meeting one of the cooks at another restaurant and hearing all about the place I decided to give it a try. The service was very slow to start. I had the Sunday dinner Buffett. They had prime rib, brisket, chicken, meatloaf, Mac & cheese, potatoes, brussels sprouts, beets, collard greens, local mushrooms, various salad and dressings and sorghum butter. The sorghum butter was fantastic, the brisket was fantastic and the prime rib was so so but mostly because they didn't have any horseradish sauce. They source all their stuff locally and said that they hadn't been able to get horseradish for two months. At that point as a restaurant I would have bit the bullet and bought some locally at a grocery store. Or made some Ajou sauce but they had none of that. The mac & cheese was really good but the potatoes were soured and I think it was from the cream the heat was off on the potatoes and they had probably been out for a few hours before I had them. No one checked on the buffet bar while I was there hardly at all I had to tell them three different things that they should have seen had they been checking on it. Lastly I'm probably the biggest reason I've given them a three star is because the food was good but probably deserves a one star because one of the cooks came in the bathroom, used it and left without washing his hands. Not sure that I can go back based on this. Obviously I'm sure this goes on far too often but I witnessed it so not sure I can let it go as such. As always your experience may vary. read more

Wow! What an awesome space!!! An industrial building turned into a farm to table restaurant. The decor is industrial meets farmhouse. It is impeccably decorated with extreme detail. I love the use of old dishes, random silverware. Even the washrooms are decorated perfectly. They have a seasonal menu. If you want something on it, I suggest getting there early. They were sold out of three entrees and the seasonal desert tonight. Their bacon and meat are cut in-house. They also cure their own bacon! Our table ordered the fried chicken with Mac and cheese, the meatloaf with whipped mashed potatoes, the burger with house cured bacon and cheese, the kids steak dinner, & chicken and dumplings. Their fried chicken tastes like it was soaked in buttermilk. So juicy! Their Mac and cheese is top 3 ever for me. Fresh pasta and the sauce is so creamy and rich. The meatloaf tastes like your grandmother made it for you in a personal pan. The burger is seasoned to perfection. Word of warning, the chicken and dumplings has bones! Be careful. One of the kids with us ordered it and about choked. We were really wanting to try the fried bennys. Unfortunately, they were sold out. It is a little bit expensive, but worth it for the quality. This is not a place to have intimate conversation as it is hard to hear. We will be going back to try a few other dishes. read more

We were traveling through Georgetown today and looking for a breakfast/brunch spot. Right off the interstate we saw Cracker Barrel (which I think is overrated) and the TONS of people waiting outside. So I pulled up Yelp and found Local Feed. I thought the name was a little weird, but read some reviews and our group decided it was worth a try. Thank goodness we did!! I think this was the BEST brunch I have ever had! I got two small plates... biscuits and sausage gravy with the best jam I've ever had and waffles with homemade butter and fruit. I'm still drooling! My husband had the Sausage Hash and that was also phenomenal! It was served in the cutest Corningware casserole dish. The vibe of the place was so eclectic and fantastic. We live 2.5 hours away and are already talking about going back for brunch. read more

Came for the $30 per person buffet. They struggled to have any food on it. Service sucked. 3rd time here and so far never a good experience. This is a special gastropub with farm to table combinations that you won't find anywhere else. I've been here for dinner and brunch and both times had way more food than I could eat, my tastebuds were challenged and happy, and the atmosphere was perfect for a date night or brunch with friends. Dinner: tomahawk braised rib with creamy polenta and fire roasted Brussels Brunch: deviled eggs, sorghum cornbread, Brussels with mustard cream, steak and eggs, sausage hash, Bloody Mary It was all amazing and fresh and the tiny twists on classic dishes were delicious and surprising! The service was even over the top and perfect. My only complaint is that the specials are written on a black board, hard to read, prices are difficult to understand, and not easily noticed. read more

I can't believe that we had not been here already. It is only a 15 mile drive from Lexington to Georgetown (20-30 minutes depending on the time of day). Tucked away down a one way street is a absolute gem of a restaurant. The building was originally a ice house in the 1890's. The exterior has a lot of character and starts to set the mood. We like to sit at the bar anytime we can. You get a better feel for how happy the staff are and the general atmosphere of a place at the bar. The high open ceiling and gentle flow of air from the fans makes the area feel quite grand and relaxing. The Bar Professional, I think Mixologist may be correct but Im not sure, was top notch on the cocktails and personality. Watching him make art that I was to consume was a lot of fun. He used quality spirits, bitters, etc for every drink. The menu is a brilliant collage of dishes with bold flavor and ingredients. The deviled eggs appetizer was rich and smooth. It most assuredly got the appetite stimulated along with the wonderful Boulevardier cocktail. I had the Waygu Meatloaf and mash for my entree. It was served in the cast iron dish that it was cooked in. The tomato based sauce was caramelized around the edges and was a real treat. The texture was perfect being firm but not overly dense. The flavor was big, rich and made you feel like you were home but your Mom had went to Culinary school. I had a Vieux Carre cocktail with my entree. We always have two cocktails so we always spend a little more out eating. Honestly, our food was worth more than they are charging. Take the time and drive out to Local Feed, sit at the bar, have a drink, trust the Mixologist and Staff on suggestions, and have a fantastic time. read more

We didn't know this place existed! Found it through yelp while looking for a place to eat. Food was great; I got the beef curry. Yum!! Husband got meatloaf and mashed potatoes. The wait for food is a bit longer than most places. My husband ordered a drink and we waited and waited and waited.....after about 15 minutes of the waitress saying "it'll be a few more minutes", we just finally canceled it, figuring the bartender was giving priority service to those at the bar rather than filling orders as they came in. A bummer for sure. We came back for brunch on Sunday. It wasn't too busy but the wait for food was about 45+ minutes once we ordered. The food is really good and fresh. First visit here was a few days ago for lunch on their patio. Attractive place; nice menu; great staff; comfortable patio & good attention to being Covid19-safe. We had the brisket sandwich and the fried chicken, plus shared an appetizer. Servings were ample and nicely plated; but the food was not as outstanding, as we had hoped for. Don't bother with this restaurant. I had the meatloaf which was spicy. It didn't say on the menu it was spicy so I didn't eat much of it. My other friends ordered chicken and waffles. The waffles were stone cold and the chicken was all dark meat which the menu didn't specify. Another in our group ordered the brisket sandwich which was all fatty. The biscuits were not soft inside either. The ice tea was good and the cobbler was good. Just pass this restaurant on by. read more

We really like this place, 3 visits in a week while horse showing. Food is great, try the Beef Stroganoff and the Fried Chicken is better than Merrick Inn! The cornbread appetizer is wonderful. Friendly wait staff and extensive Bourbon selection. On a nice evening the patio is a good choice. On street parking never an issue in the evening. My husband, daughter, and I visited on a Sunday around Noon. The building itself is really cool and historical. I love the rustic decor and if you're into beer/bourbon/cocktails, they have a fully stocked bar that is huge in the back of the restaurant. The hostess seated us immediately with no reservation and our waitress was awesome and attentive. That said, the food is so mediocre. My husband and I both ordered the Strip steak which was $30 each and includes one side. I ordered my steak Medium with a side of mashed potatoes and gravy. Absolutely the worst mashed potatoes I've ever had. Someone else left a review commenting that the mashed potatoes were completely flavorless and they were not kidding! They didn't even taste potatoey. It tasted like they used ZERO milk/cream or butter to make them; honestly I feel like they must mash up their potatoes using water instead of milk or cream and they add zero salt or pepper. I added a ton of salt and pepper and they were still disgusting. The only positive thing about them is they were not lumpy. The steak, as you can see in the picture, looked grayish in color instead of having a nice brown sear. I almost feel like maybe they sous vide the steak and then throw it on the grill for a few minutes. The taste of the steak was decent, but mine was tough and definitely not a true Medium throughout...some parts were way more raw than others...it was edible, but definitely NOT worth $30. My husband said his steak was okay and the steak fries were okay, but admitted he's had better steaks at chain restaurants for much cheaper. For what they serve and the quality, I feel they are just way overpriced. Even if you were to go here just for breakfast, their prices for simple food like eggs and sausage are just outrageous. Id feel okay paying those prices if they had a great chef working there, but it's obvious their "chef" is little more than a mediocre line cook. I could have prepared a much better meal at home. Seriously, how do you screw up something as simple as mashed potatoes? My daughter ordered dessert instead of a meal; she got the brownie and ice cream and said the ice cream had ice chips in it and was oddly crunchy instead of smooth. So it's obvious they make their own ice cream in house, but still, very half assed like the rest of the meal. I definitely feel like this place is way overhyped; there are better options in Georgetown. It seems like this place is mostly visited by the hipster crowd and out of towners or people that are more interested in the alcoholic beverage options instead of the mediocre food. Save your money and cook something at home or visit an IHOP if you want breakfast food. With Tip, we paid nearly $100 for two steak dinners, a flavorless cornbread appetizer, and the brownie ice cream dessert for my daughter (we both drank water, my daughter got a sweet tea that wasn't sweet at all, and I ordered one coffee). Again, the wait staff were phenomenal and attentive, but the food not so much. Maybe we just didn't order the right thing, but I'm not so sure I'd be willing to risk going back and being disappointed again. I gave them 3 stars instead of 1 because the employees are awesome and it's not their fault the food isn't prepared well. read more

Local Feed 4 stars+ Local Color --in a good way! This place lived up to it's hype on yelp and it's website. We stopped by twice during our visit to town for the Rolex 3-day Event at the KY Horsepark. The first time we had good food and a great server. The second time we had great food and an okay server. One of the down sides of this place is seating. Especially during event weekends, seating is very limited and it doesn't seem well managed. So come early. The service is a tiny bit uneven, 3 out of 4 servers seem great, enthusiastic about the food and an addition to the experience. On to the food! It really is innovatively prepared quality American food -- Cracker Barrel meets Silver Palatte :-). Here were some of our food highlights: BRUSSELS SPROUTS gotta try them!! Wow, I have never had such good Brussels sprouts; they were cooked in bacon, and served with cubed bacon, coarse mustard, and a poached egg on top! This appetizer is Local Food's crown jewel in my view. They were cooked perfectly our first night but a little bit too crunchy the second. HAM CHOP. Get you water bottle ready for sodium flush out after this meal, but boy is it good. It was like a pork chop but out of ham, and served with red-eye gravy and grits. Super fine! HANGAR STEAK --see photo-- Really good meat not over cooked for medium rare. MAC AND CHEESE -baked in a skillet, creamy and cheesy. As with the Brussels sprouts, it was better the first night than the second night but highly recommended. CORNBREAD -yeah man! -- cooked and served in a cast iron skillet with honey butter. Gotta get this even if you just eat it for dessert. --delish! We also tried the fried chicken, which was good chicken but a little over cooked. Worth a try. They also serve a variety of local beers. Be sure to check which ones are on tap and which ones are in cans or bottles. When asked nicely, they were willing to provide tastes of the tap beers. They have a nice bar and serve a zillion bourbons. Both nights we came, I had bourbon with a beer sidecar as a pre-dinner drink. The bartender was very nice about giving advice on bourbons, especially if you don't want to spend $50 per shot! All in all this is a must-stop spot! read more

Best place we found to eat in this area, while in town for Rolex. In fact, we came back here to eat a second time because we liked it so much the first time. Both times we had an appetizer with brussels sprouts, thick bacon, some spicy mustard sauce, and a poached egg on top. It was very, very good. We both had the fried chicken, which was a tad disappointing because it seemed just a bit overcooked. Boyfriend had the collard greens which were good, and I had the macaroni and cheese which was absolutely fabulous! The second time I had a hanger steak and boyfriend had the ham chop. The chop came with grits and red eye gravy, which I tasted and it was absolutely fabulous. I had the macaroni and cheese with my steak, and while good it was not quite as good as the other time we ate here. Highly recommend eating here. We had reservations Sunday 9/1/2024. We were excited because it was our first time here. We were seated at our table and it was at least 15 minutes before anyone else came by. The hostess walked by and I asked do we have a waitress? She said she would let her know, go ahead to the buffet. Food was not appealing at all, we had to guess what it was, no labels. What I thought was a porkchop ended up being sausage. The food that we did get to try was cold, bacon, fried chicken, fried potatoes, rolls, etc. My wife said the only thing that was any good was the bacon. For me it was the sausage and bacon, which was both cold even on the buffet pans. Sad. Biscuits were hard and butter would not melt. Building was nice but the rugs on the floor were really filthy. In town on vacation with another couple. First rate restaurant-attractive location in what appears to be an old feed store, excellent selection of bourbon and cocktails and really outstanding food. Top choices were chicken and dumplings, the waygu meat loaf and the beef stroganoff. Blackberry cobbler was great (with delicious shortbread type shell). Lively atmosphere on a Friday night without being too loud to have a conversation. Service was casual without crossing the line into unprofessional. While farm to table, no preachy speech like at some other restaurants. All in all a very enjoyable experience. read more

Had a bad experience on 9/9/23. Ordered the fried catfish. It was terrible, extremely mushy. Sent it back and got a new filet but it was so salty it was inedible. Plus the hush puppies were burned. Poor quality place made to look chic upscale in an old building . Most uncomfortable seating in crowded dining area...ultra noisy!! The menu is very limited with overpriced daily specials. Everything appears to be overcooked and dried up when it eventually appears from the noisy kitchen. A somewhat plus is that you can escape the indoor ambiance by retreating to the rather limited outdoor seating area. Complaints of the food fall on deaf ears with no adjustments made to the bill. read more
