Great produce -- like a perpetual farmer's market of local produce.

This is a nice spot to pick up produce, snacks and wine / beer when heading over the Spit. Selections are seasonal, hit & miss but generally good quality. Some people have complained about lack of organics but that is not a deciding factor for me. Not a big "organic" demographic in this area either. Prices are fairly steep but typical of a small scale grocer. Have not tried their tap room but seems popular. Service is quick and courteous. read more

Yesterday (6/24) I went in out of curiosity thinking this would be like Tacoma Boys. Boy, was I surprised. I picked out a bone in ribeye that was 1.46lbs and a bit over $32.00!! WAY more than I expected. All I could think about was it would be a very special dinner. I got home to discover it was not in my bag. I called and drove back from Gig Harbor to pick it up. It was nowhere in sight. They counter guy said he didn't know what happened to it but got me a good replacement. I should have checked it but didn't because at that point I was late for an appointment. I cooked it tonight. It was without a doubt one of the toughest pieces of meat I've ever had and it was NOWHERE near the piece of meat I had picked out previously. I've had WAY better meat from my least favorite store (Albertsons) and at a much cheaper price. This was $22/lb and I would expect way way better for that price. NEVER again. read more

Very good selection of food, veggies, beer and wine. This place is kind of like Tacoma Boys, not surprising based on the name but their selection is smaller than most of them, however you can find most of what you need and if you need a good quality piece of meat then look no further, they have a great selection. The staff is very knowledgeable about what they have in store and more than happy to help you find it. If you like beer then after shopping head next store to the taproom, wow I was amazed by the selection of all local beers and they have some amazing ones on tap, plus if you don't like that then you can buy something from their coolers and drink it there. read more

UPDATE! It only gets worse. After being promised my order was being filled and not receiving it after a couple of weeks I called again to follow up. They blocked my number!! I know this because I used another phone to call and the call went right through. I have reported the credit card fraud to my bank. I sincerely hope that anyone reading this will not reward these crooks by patronizing this business. read more

Stopped here for a beer. They have a great selection of local Washington beers, some of which like some beers from San Juan are in tap. They also have a large selection of bottles and cans, again all local. The inside is smallish and rustic with lots of locals, clearly a theme! Worth a stop for some delicious local beers. read more

Just bought a Christmas tree here. They have a great selection priced really well. The guys were super helpful and friendly. They explained all the different trees to us, went around and helped us to choose exactly what we were looking for. The loaded the tree for us. I highly recommend them. read more

Wow! We were blown away with the delicious produce here and the wide selection of local seafood and interesting foods. Some of the best tomatoes I have ever had! Super nice service as well. Stopped by here randomly and it's a nice little local spot for fresh organic fruit. Given that it's not very "visually aesthetic" because its got a fresh farm feel... you don't pay all the crazy prices that would be charged in a high end organic store. They also have some hybrid fruits that taste like creamsicles and vanilla melon. it's rather delicious. But hands down my favorite thing there is the Local Boys Salsa. AMAZING! SO AMAZING that I'll drive from federal way over there just to buy some! Oh and the fresh made tortilla chips are a great partner with the salsa. read more

Open seasonally in Purdy, Washington, right near the bridge. Fresh produce stand, that also has a nice selection of beers and cheeses. The prices are good and you can pretty much sample anything before you buy it. All the people that work here are super nice and friendly. I didn't see any parsley so I asked the employee about it and he went to some storage or something in the back and returned with a huge fresh bunch of it. A cool alternative to the standard supermegamarket USA. Tip: The pepperoni sticks they sell here are crazy delicious! Also check out the funky flower pots and yard decor they sell. I'm thinking about picking up one of those frogs. read more

WOW! Talk about keeping it fresh and friendly. Every time I'm visiting family in Gig Harbor from San Diego. It's a must to stop in at local boys. I love this place. There are always amazing prices on very fresh produce, and their chips and salsa are to die for. I grabbed some cauliflower, cantaloupe, watermelon, apples. Cherries and strawberries, chips , salsa!! We have tried some of every bit of our harvest and I have to say everything is/was delicious. FYI! If you like peanut brittle, OH MY! its must try. I most especially appreciated that it's a very comfortable environment, and that the people working are always smiling and accommodating. read more

Love this place, they had live Dungeness crabs today. If you've never had live, trust me you haven't tasted true crab. The reason being that crab that's commercially caught and cooked right away is literally cooked with the (excuse me but) the poop in it. When it's live, all that is cleaned out first and then the clean meat is cooked and it tastes so much more better. Sorry to gross out viewers but it's something to note about precooked crab because we normally never do that process (cook in whole) with other meats. read more

This place is great! Produce is always fresh, it's open air, public bathrooms, and great wine selection. You can't beat their prices for seafood, especially their live crab! I love their orange creamsicle melons, which I've been getting for several years... But it seems like they're getting more popular and they sell out by noon! Any of their food, you can't go wrong. My dad loves their salsa, he drives from Shelton just to get it. I've always enjoyed all of their fruit, and their workers are all so friendly. If you don't know what you want, they can help! There are also tons of free samples available throughout the market, so you can taste it before you buy it! I definitely recommend this place! read more

Great fish, great local produce, eclectic offerings and just an all around fun place! Be careful when you go and start bantering with those local boys, you may want to stay all day. :) It is absolutely the best place to go in the area for produce, their selection and quality far outshines any one else in the area.
