I also visited two of FNAC's other bookstore locations in Paris, but nothing quite compares to the one at des Halles. The reason why I'm not giving five stars is because the employees were rather perfunctory. Still, I gladly spent a small fortune on books each time because of the great selection.

The price that was listed on the shelf was 29 euros. After purchasing the card and leaving the store, I realized that I had paid over 70 euros! I immediately returned and told a young man in the back of the store that the card was the incorrect price and that I needed to return it. He took the card and gave me a printed paper in french that I did not understand. I asked in french if he needed my credit card and he said no. I waited weeks for the charge to be reversed. Yes, it's crowded, filled with tourists, and a bit higher-priced than other locations. But guess…read morewhat?! That means that it stays open late, has lots of employees who speak perfect English, and stocks all the stuff that a visitor might really want (e.g., phones, SIM cards). The saleslady took a long time to set up my phone for me and wrote out a bunch of instructions for me for buying new minutes, checking my voicemail, etc.
