Let me first say that I'm a guy, so I was just looking for a basic haircut for curly hair that my…read morewife would approve of. I prefer to go to a hair salon because otherwise it seems everyone wants to give you a buzz cut. Being new to the area, I found Linda's salon on Yelp. Basic points about the salon: 1. It's big and well-established - They seem equipped to do a huge range of things for women, above and beyond the other places. They also were much cleaner, spiffier, and were twice the size of any other place I passed by. The salon's also been used for women on some of the makeover TV shows. 2. Great, helpful staff - Really friendly, and I liked them a lot. They gave me a lot of pointers about the area, which I really appreciated. 3. Fluent English speakers - I know it's the Bronx, but three places I'd visited nearby struggled to answer me when asking "can you give me a haircut?". Seemed like decent salons, but made me worried about how I'd further convey the "no buzz cut" concept :) 4. Surprisingly good price - $15 for a haircut. 5. Good haircut - My wife approved and liked it. They didn't scalp me or get scissor-happy or anything, I thought it was a good haircut too. I'd recommend this place to women to try out - seems like the best salon place within three miles of here. I'd recommend it to men too.

She told me what products to buy and showed me how to curl my hair with the flat iron. Told me what not to do so my hair won't get damage again. When I say everyone loved my hair, strangers stopped me to ask where I got my hair. Why The Look I responded. I'm glad I found her thru yelp. Linda is definitely a keeper. The person taking the calls & scheduling was very pleasant that although I was calling several places I immediately scheduled because of the sense & vibe her delivery & attentive attitude gave off. I know you guys know New York has alot of rude, attitude having people who sound like they can't stand their jobs & that voice inflection that she had was felt over the phone and I'm sure those places lose business just based on that alone. But this place was outstanding even before paying the salon a visit and have to shout out Gloria she did an amazing job!! I definitely didn't feel like your average odd ball being new and or like a stranger her work is her talent but her personable and easy going personality made all of the awkward assumptions I had anticipated having being a new customer was not even a thought. That welcoming aura & great energy is not only received by the receptionist but by all, the entire staff definitely shared the same qualities this is a friendly and family like atmosphere and my experience was such a great one I had to recognize them. Keep up the great work ladies your all amazing !

I was really hoping to find a salon closer to home that I could become a regular at, but…read moreunfortunately this was another disappointment. I came in for a wash and set and even brought my own products, along with two clip-in extensions that simply needed to be rinsed and dried. I specifically told the stylist that I didn't want excessive heat on my hair. She assured me that the process would be quick and that she would use products to protect my hair. The clip-ins had already been washed beforehand. All I needed was for them to be rinsed and allowed to dry under the dryer. Since I noticed the service was moving slowly, I decided to take the clip-ins home and straighten them myself rather than continue waiting. No rollers, blow-dry, or flat ironing were done on the clip-ins by the salon. When it came time to pay, I was shocked to be charged $90. I was told the additional cost was because of my extra hair, despite the fact that very little was actually done to the clip-ins. I simply cannot justify that pricing based on the service provided. To make matters worse, I left with my hair smelling burnt, which is exactly what I was trying to avoid when I expressed my concerns about heat. Had I not been pressed for time and needing my hair done for an event, I would have just made the trip to my regular salon. Unfortunately, this experience did not meet my expectations, and I won't be returning.

Showed the owner what I wanted and asked if it was possible. Yes Hunny I charge $350 for that. But just know you will have to come a few times, we will not get that first time . So great do you take Zelle or should I go get Cash - no Zelle is fine. I told her that my hair had other processing in it and I would recommend doing a test strand because I didn't want to a bad job. Her response was "oh baby we are Albanians we don't mess up color" - then tells her employee to make a bleach with 30 Volume ( I had no idea how strong this even is & that it isn't even used because it will knock your hair out. She applies this to my head to make highlights she's very talkative and nice - at first. Ohh hunny you have ALOT of hair. Once stuff is in my hair I had to keep asking her to check it because I am no stylist but bleach in hair for over an hour? She checked 4/5 time as per my requested and said coming out beautiful. ( I didn't know she meant hair coming out beautiful as in my hair was being over processed). She has a Hispanic older lady very nice Natty. She has Natty finish her dirty work. Because once she sent her to wash it off and put toner - she never not once even looked at my hair. I can just feel something is wrong and Natty is trying to cover it up and make it seem like everything is alright. Natty asks me if I want to do a mask to help seal my hair, that's an extra $25 - great because who doesn't do mask or deep conditioning after processing hair. The hair mask is supposed to be on your head then a seaming machine - seaming machine kept turning off so the complete process wasn't done. I go to the bathroom after the wash and wow to my surprise my hair was falling out from just touching, the amount of hair I lost yesterday is incredible. The hair was puffy like just soaked felt like a cotton ball. So she now leaves Nice older woman Natty to do my hair the rest of the visit. When Natty started putting my rollers is when I saw all the hair coming out as she brushed. And I was like stop what is going on, when the other realized that she said what what what's the problem? I said my hair, it's coming out - she's like it's like that cause it's WET. You came in here with your hair like that. She's like that's all that processing and flat ironing you do. ( baes my actual hairdresser is a blower beast - no iron needed. At this point my hair super overprocessed hair that not even the drier after 1:30 mins could dry. Poor lady started to try and blow out my hair and it just got worst and worst she make a hand gesture and told her to face me away from the mirror. It was horrible but when it was time to pay she CHARGED ME THE WHOLE $350 + $25 + a miscellaneous Zelle FEE of $12 = $387 total even after the machine didn't work. When I expressed how upset I was she said hunny you come back and I'll do the mask for free ? Huh come back My homegirl comes to this salon and has NEVER has this issue nor a damn ZELLE FEE'd. Her hair color is actual nice and I've never been able to achieve the colors I want. Safe to say I will be sticking to what and who I KNOW because I ran right back to MY hair dresser and she cut my hair and blew it out and told me to just come back and we will get my hair back. So for those ladies that have thick textured hair. STAY AWAY!
