Everything was excellent! Would never know the students aren't already professional chefs. Highly recommend.

I had an amazing time tasting all the different vinegars and oils. Inside, they have these cylinder…read morecontainers where you can pour and taste everything. It's set up like a whole room where you can walk around slowly, look, and try different combos at your own pace. The staff was so nice--super helpful and even helped me come up with different pairings. One mix that made my mind almost explode was the watermelon basil balsamic with the ginger olive oil. It was so good, I couldn't stop myself. I went around the whole place trying different combinations like a madwoman. I ended up buying a four-piece set--two balsamic vinegars and two olive oils. One of the oils I bought was a jalapeño olive oil, and being a chef, my mind went to all these different places. My brain started to itch thinking about what I could make--different pieces, different marinades, different sauces, different salads. I got so excited and giddy, like a grown man in a LEGO store or a kid in Toys "R" Us. It was that kind of joy.

Interesting, well-presented exhibits. Hands-on opportunities. Classes offered annually. Community…read moreevents, too. I have been to a few of the events: one was the Central Neighborhood front porch concerts and treats- it was fun. The other event was as a volunteer (full disclosure) for their plein air paint out as part of Paint Grand Traverse. Oh, I think everyone should volunteer for this, but that's my love of the arts speaking. As more of a dreamer than a do-er, I'm pretty much in awe of those who *do.* Lastly, this evening I was here for the TC Ticker's 'Recess' event. I'd consider going to another of their events, the venues rotate. There were beverage tickets (imbibe if you don't have to work later, as I did) and yummy treats from Maxbauer's and Raduno. I guess I networked, but I consider it more a polishing/fine-tuning of extremely rusty social skills. I am a busy and introverted human, therefore I don't get out much, lol. But, when I do get out, it's because I have high expectations. And, this venue and event both proved themselves to be enjoyable.
