If you can, choose a room with a beach balcony and I swear you won't regret it at all. It offers a buffet breakfast with a tremendous array of options from fruits, nuts, yoghurt, coffee, pastries, Nutella, etc. It's a very good place to stay if you're planning to move from Savona to Monaco or Nice (which is what I did). Something to bear in mind is that there is a parking lot, but sometimes all the parking spots are taken as there is a restaurant and a bar inside the hotel. There are parking lots on the area, but of course, you have to pay for them. I would die to return in the summer and take advantage of the hotel's extraordinary swimming pool and small beach resort.

The hotel is a 5 minute walk to the train station , a 7 minute ride to the bike shuttle stop, a 10 minute walk to the beach town or beach. They have a great little bar which is nice to meet people open all day and night. They have a nice continental breakfast with eggs but is about the same every day. Rooms are air conditioned and have good bathrooms. The beds were small for me probably 6 feet long and ok but not too comfortable. The hotel staff were super friendly and helpful and set up restaurant reservations and taxi as needed. The WiFi didn't work well for me, sometimes it worked and sometimes it didn't. Overall an excellent budget hotel and I would be happy to come back.

Ive stayed during both regimes and it is slowly getting improved now that the chef has full vision for changes. It used to be housing for the higher ups of the church, so the names of the rooms are after said clergymen. It has the charm of old school construction but has some modern touches, a mixup of both. The funicular you take to the top gives a dramatic view of the Bay and the rooms are giving you the same views. It is a quiet partt of the world when you go during the non summer season. a great place to escape the crazy of the world and see the mountains and ocean. Great hospitality from the family owners to boot.

We spent our evenings on that balcony listening to the ocean and since it was off season, the traffic was calm. Our room had plenty of space, was clean and the bathrooms updated. In usual Italian style, there are no washcloths provided by the establishment but all the usual items like shampoo,etc., were there. Breakfast is the common European cereals, breads, yogurt and fruits plus a few other treats, and was included with our room. The common areas of the hotel were comfortable and service was good. We took a walk up to the next town along the oceanfront pathway which is very cute and 'beach vacation' like, with kids playing in the sand and shops selling hats, sunscreen and towels. There is also a nice train station there in walking distance to the hotel. We had hoped to get back to Grand Hotel Spiaggia again before we leave Europe, but unfortunately were not able to make that happen. Maybe another time on another trip. In the meantime, we have our memories.

And if you're hungry and are looking for a great place to eat, look no further than their restaurant at night. They offer a prix fixe menu that changes daily and the food is really good. You won't be disappointed with the quality or the quantity. They give you a lot to eat for the price, which only excludes wine (and maybe soda). The owners are always on hand working in the kitchen or taking care of the well manicured grounds. They're very friendly and helpful. I highly recommend coming here. I didn't give it a five-star rating only because I would reserve that for a full service hotel. But for the type of place, this place is tops!

Rooms are spacious, very clean and comfortable. I love the firm beds! A welcoming staff (patient with my dialect of Italian), was there to help and answer questions about the area. Adjacent (and really part of the lobby) is an enclosed pool with window walls that slide open for warm, sunny weather. Quite a nice arrangement and tastfully designed. Breakfast (included) the next morning was great. Plenty of choices of pastries, breads, yogurts, fruits, cheese and cold meats. Coffee and fresh juices served.
