Mi dispiace, but this was just an off experience. We'd heard good things about Zurro and finally -- this is our third time on Stromboli -- made it here. We didn't have a reservation (tried via WhatsApp, which most Italians have, but it was a no go) and were asked to return in 40 minutes, which we did (the restaurant was ¾ empty when we first arrived, and 1/2 empty for the rest of the night, we left at 11pm). Food was plain, with 2 out of 3 dishes good. The third was a dish of tough cuttlefish. We had a good bottle of white wine, and an ok dessert (apricots in wine). We asked for espresso, but were told there was none to be had (!). The cover charge was 4 Euro per person, relatively high. We paid 90 Euro for one antipasto, two simple mains, a bottle of basic wine, and one dessert. Hence 3 stars overall, along with the quality of food and experience . Do want to say that there was nice linen on the tables, the place was immaculate, and the servers were nice. You could observe the cook (Zurro?) in the large, bright, we'll-equipped kitchen, cooking with ease, like a pro, and it seemed guests were primarily locals. That's usually a great thing, but somehow it just didn't really feel like this restaurant was truly open for business. read more
