Apparently I don't belong here unless I show an "active" QR from the app. I walked in, and he stopped me as if I were shop-lifting. Aggressive and off-putting. "Excuse me!! Excuse me!!!" He practically chases me to the lockers because I had headphones in. "Your code doesn't go to anything. You aren't registered." What in the name of Jesus are you talking about?? You guys gave me this barcode, and I have been using it for 5 years, and have never been accused of trying to pull a fast one. "See? He says, it will make a sound, see?" Then he re-runs my barcode, but no sound comes out, so I have no idea what he is talking about. I tell him no one in five years has ever stopped me like this before. "I come to the gym about 4 to 5 days a week. "To THIS one?" he demands. "No, but I have been here twice before," I tell him, "with no issues." "Well you have to use the app...." then he drones on about the perks of having the app. Something about allowing friends and family in. (I am alone, so I have no idea why this is relevant, Mr. Big Aggressive Club Manager.) Furthermore, is this a "perks" thing -- or am I trying to scam you by using a barcode that you people gave me to use?? Which issue are we trying to address? I don't need your stupid app on my phone. Go touch grass, Ken.

Over 10 years of membership at this gym and I am sad to say it has been spiraling downhill at an…read morealarming rate over the past year. What once was an amazing, inspiring atmosphere whose leadership truly wanted to see people improve themselves jas become just another average run of the mill fitness establishment that's no better than the other fitness chains. It's no longer the advertised family friendly environment it once was. They work hard to maintain the facade of a great gym that is better than the rest when in reality they fall short in comparison. This gym has really become run down due to lack of maintenance. The bullet hole in the front window that's been there for a year or more is one example. The broken mirror in the multipurpose room is another. It's been broken for years at this point. They have pictures of pro athletes hung on the wall for all to see, many who used to support this gym. The multitude of pro athletes that once supported this gym has dwindled to just a few over the last year and now you don't see them in this gym much at all. The music is often inappropriate and vulgar and is played at levels that make it difficult to hear anyone you might be talking to (trainer, friend, staff, etc) during the weekdays, especially in the afternoons. The volume tends to be ok in the mornings and weekends though and i think that is because its different staff running the gym at those times. Should you bring the music volume up to gym ownership the response you get is inappropriate, acusatory, and unprofessional. On occasion, the facility smells of sewage when you walk in the door. It's been occurring for years but remains an issue to this day Equipment is often in need of maintenance that seems to take longer than other gyms to address (inoperable cardio equipment, torn up pleather seating or pulleys on weight machines, etc). The equipment is older and perhaps this is to be expected for an establishment with older equipment, I don't know. It does get fixed eventually though. The 3 knee pads available are compressed to the point of being ineffective and the 2 mats they have are torn and ripped. They have needed replacement for well over 6 months at this point.

But today this blonde girl who was working the front desk would not let me do a day pass. I got there at 7:00 she argued that I couldn't stay there after eight. This never was an issue before and I also go to other Powerhouse gyms like the Las Vegas one and never had an issue. So disappointed that I won't be able to workout here when I'm on the road. Thankfully I was able to go to armbrust pro gym and had no issue there. I hope they revise their travel policy.

It started off great…read more.. Competitive pricing is what brought me the door in the first place. One of the cheapest gyms I found in this area seemed like a great idea to begin with that was until the hidden fees started appearing. After using the gym for 2 months I noticed I was going to get stuck with a $60 yearly fee. Bizarre but not the end of the world. After doing some budgeting i decided to cancel the membership all together which is an added cost of $35. I was upsold on only paying $25 to "freeze" the account & see where I am after 3 months. 3 months later, I'm now leaving the state so I came back in to cancel the membership, again. I was told not only am I NOT allowed to only pay the cancelation fee, but I'd be on the hook for the yearly fee & the yearly membership fee. $100? For a gym membership that's only supposed to cost $10 a month? Less than 6 months of having the membership to begin with is absolutely ridiculous. If I could give zero stars I would. For the zero amount of customer service I was given. Do yourself a favor. Pick a different gym.

They open the gym right on time and greet everyone with a smile, which makes those early workouts way more enjoyable. They're always willing to help or answer questions, and their positive energy really sets the tone for a great start to the day. One small thing--some of the equipment could be fixed a little faster when it's out of order. It's not a huge deal, but quicker maintenance would make the experience even better. Still, the staff and overall vibe here are top-notch! Four stars just because of staff! Otherwise probably a 2-3 gym due to equipment being out of order.

This review is specifically for the layout of the weights on the second floor. More specifically,…read morethe location of the bench press (2) and incline bench (1). The position of the two bench presses and incline bench are pushed up against the wall on the East side of the building. Right where the steel reinforcement beams are located which leaves NO space to safely spot your partner without hitting your head or back on one of those beams. You cannot even get behind them without crawling around the weights or beams themselves. This is incredibly dangerous and a major safety issue. Whomever designed the layout of the weight room does not appear to have experience with weight training. The nautilus machines and free weight areas should probably be switched. There is nowhere to safely stretch (people do it under the stairs) or do ab exercises, box jumps, etc. Someone, with knowledge of weight training, should redesign the space for efficiency and safety.

I regularly go to two classes - one is a Cardio & Strength class & the other is Tai Chi, both are drop-in. The instructors are fun & very knowledgeable. Christine teaches the cardio class & always demonstrates modifications, so it's perfect for all levels of fitness. Maureen is very well versed in Tai Chi as well. This is a fantastic center with fabulous instructors.
