My initial experience in trying to find an interior decorator was an utter failure. Two professional type firms rejected my application and one woman told me that she would not take on any jobs without a minimum furniture purchase of $250,000. I wondered aloud what the proletariat did for their home decorating needs? Then I stumbled on Missy, she was the perfect speed for me in every way, serving in the dual role of inter decorator and project manager. Her approach was perfect, putting ideas and concepts into simple power point presentations where I could pick and choose what worked and didn't work for me. I never got the impression that she was imposing her views or concepts of what my place should look like too forcefully. Eventually I did need to concede that most of her ideas were spot on. Also, and this might be most important for some people, her rates are very reasonable, billing out on an hourly basis for time expended versus the lump sum approach you'll find with a lot of decorators. Never got the feeling throughout the entire process that the money was not being well spent. All around her patience (with me), ideas and affordability made the entire experience a terrific one. Would highly recommend Missy to anyone looking to bring in a professional for a small or big home decorating project.

During construction of our home, we have interacted with several vendors and businesses and Liz…read moreCrider (HAD owner) is hands down the most unprofessional and inexperienced. We approached Liz because of her Google reviews, (which I now must question the validity of those reviews), and she was paid a deposit to design our whole home. In the span of over one year, Liz never requested a face-to-face meeting or video meeting to get to know our design style. She never asked us a single question either verbally or in writing about what colors and fabrics we like or what to avoid. She never asked if we had pets or children or how we will use each space. She simply went off on her own and designed our living room based on photos we pinned on Pinterest. The designs required multiple revisions and hours of our time to get it to a state where we felt we were just okay with. Then came the estimate. Liz submitted a bill of $18k for our living room, but would not provide any details on where the products would be sourced, what fabric would be used, warranty information, reviews, etc. We were expected to hand over that amount of money with no guarantees we would be content with the items purchased, and, she only allows two returns per room. She was also tasked with our primary bathroom, which turned out to be another disaster. She never made one trip to the house, and she asked us, her customers, to take measurements of the bathroom and provide them to her. Her initial designs for the bathroom were confounding. It was a mix of tiki bar meets the Golden Girls. Again, we went through the same exercise of hours of input to get a somewhat okay design. This is when we realized we were doing her job. She purchased all of the items, had them delivered to our current home, and charged us her design fee plus cashed in on her trade discount. In addition, she relied on us and our GC to pick up orders and I had to coordinate all deliveries. At this point, we decided to cut ties with her because it was obvious she was in over her head, we were handling all logistics and her design aesthetic was not in line with what we envisioned. Perhaps Dorothy or Rose would appreciate it. We were stuck with the items she purchased ($9K), and we discovered that ALL of the bathroom fixtures are various shades of brushed gold. None of the items she ordered would work and it was a waste of money. When approached with our concerns, Liz lacked the business acumen to listen to our concerns and make things right. She wanted to retain 100% of the deposit for the whole house even though she worked on two rooms. When asked why she never requested a meeting, she responded with "I don't make friends with clients". Making friends was never my intention, but creating a thoughtful design was. One last point to her lack of engagement is that to this day, Liz does not know my husbands name and refers to him by his gmail handle despite being on multiple calls with the both of us. Do yourself a favor and research/interview interior decorators before deciding to go with HAD. I really wish I had performed more due diligence. This would have saved me a small fortune and a good amount of frustration with someone that is in the wrong business. **Everything stated in this review is documented in email exchanges with Liz Crider.**

We recently moved into an 8-year old home that was very boring, all builder grade decorations/colors, and my wife wanted to do a facelift on living area, kitchen, gameroom and two bedrooms. We interviewed several interior decorators, but The Design Firm won our business due to their incredible professionalism, creativity and the attention to detail was palpable. We had a series of meetings with designer, Jenn (cant remember last name), and even Kara (the owner) participated in some of our meetings. They even created an artist rendering of what we could expect with the finished project which was icing on the cake for a husband with no vision! The total project took about 3 months and they handled everything from choosing the final colors, ordering furniture, light fixtures, and paints, completed install in a timely fashion, but always alerted us of timeline of project, including one delay due to item being on back order. My wife really wanted project complete in time for a special party and The Design Firm worked diligently to make sure project was complete in time for party, communication was outstanding and helped relieve wife's stress. I HIGHLY recommend The Design Firm to make your visions become a reality, I am now a true believer in having an outside interior decorator handle your vision, and our finished project is stunning and gets compliments from all of our guests! We are now planning a second project with The Design Firm to overhaul our outdoor patio and master bedroom/bath, and I am excited to see what their creative minds have in store for us. Upon reading other reviews, I am appalled that some people did not have the most pleasant and professional experience with The Design Firm, I highly recommend that you meet with them to see all the things they can do...you pay for what you get, and I feel like our money was well spent and the result is phenomenal!

We wanted a designer involved early in the process. I saw an ad for Eklektik Interiors and was impressed by their style - I called to make an appointment. We were very fortunate that Stephanie Vaughn was assigned as our designer. Stephanie was instrumental in assisting us with locating and making selections of designer materials - saving us countless hours. She was very attentive to our ideas and comments. We both love design; therefore this was very important to us. She is great at interpreting an idea and making it happen! Stephanie proved to be a great mediator between husband and wife, between homeowner and contractor, and at times, between contractor and subs. Her involvement was extremely helpful to my husband and I in keeping the construction ball rolling. Her soft approach to problem-solving is truly a gift. With our vision and Stephanie's input and expertise, we truly achieved the "wow" factor and now live in a showcase home. Visitors aren't sure of what to look at first because we created so many interesting design elements in the house. Stephanie is a real asset to the design industry. We would definitely use her again in future projects.

Beverly contacted me via the Houzz website and was eager to be helpful in a way that I appreciated so much. My first big project with her was to do drapes with my own special collection of fabrics for four rooms. The new drapes look stunning, and I can't wait for the remaining fabric to arrive for her team to do up the fifth room of drapes. My second project was to find a comfortable chair for our family room (I'm quite short and getting comfortable to work on my computer or watch TV for any length of time can be a challenge). VERY DISAPPOINTING EXPERIENCE -- BE CAREFUL BEFORE SIGNING!…read more If I could give SpaceManager zero stars, I absolutely would. The only positive part of our experience was the designer, who deserves five stars for her professionalism, creativity, and the excellent 3D design she prepared for us. Unfortunately, the company's management and business practices were a completely different story. The designer came to our home, spent time understanding our needs, and created a beautiful 3D closet design. We were initially very impressed and seriously considered moving forward with the company. However, when it came to pricing, we were offered a 30% manager's discount, which we agreed to consider. Before signing the final agreement, we carefully reviewed the proposal and discovered numerous errors and items that had been removed or cut from our original design. This was extremely disappointing because the proposal did not reflect what we had discussed and expected. The advertised 30% discount meant very little when items were being removed from the project. My biggest concern is transparency and trust. A discount should be a genuine discount, not something that distracts customers from missing items, changes to the design, or errors in the proposal. Thankfully, we reviewed everything carefully before committing further. My advice to anyone considering SpaceManager is to read every single detail of the contract and make sure every item you discussed is clearly included in writing before signing or making any payment. We were also very disappointed with the manager's attitude. Instead of handling our concerns professionally and respectfully, we found him rude and difficult to communicate with. The way our concerns were handled completely damaged our confidence in the company. We ultimately decided not to move forward because we no longer felt comfortable trusting the company with our project. It is such a shame because the designer was excellent, but a good designer cannot make up for poor management, a lack of transparency, and an unpleasant customer experience. My recommendation: Be extremely careful, double-check your proposal, confirm every detail, and do not let a big discount pressure you into signing. For us, trust is everything, and unfortunately, SpaceManager failed to earn ours. The designer gets 5 stars from me. The management and overall company experience get 0 stars. I would not recommend this company based on our experience.
