I am in Fargo to attend a funeral. Being already grief stricken is bad enough but as a close family…read moremember, there is an expectation to shake hands and thank others for attending the service. So when half my nails broke (my natural nails) I messaged Angle's... after hours on a Saturday night, asking if he had anything open Sunday or Monday, explaining my desperate but urgent situation. Sunday morning I got a text saying to come in at noon. And yes I did. AND I snapped another nail in my unfamiliar rental car on the way over! Clear down to the nail bed. The wonderful gentleman was so kind. We had to do a full set to get my nails to one length ( and trust me... any length as long as I didn't have 3 talons, 4 medium jagged little nails and 3 beyond help!) which was going to take longer than the time I scheduled. Short. Squarish. Active length. Nothing fancy but polished. Fair fair price and wonderful in every way. I will still bawl at the funeral but at least I won't feel self conscious about my ugly mismatched nails. Nor will I scratch, stab or poke anyone accidentally with my ragged edges. I hope next time I am here I am just visiting Fargo ND. Hopefully not in February and maybe with some notice. But if I need a nail salon here, I will definitely come here. My friend received an email 2 days later that…read moretheir system was having issue and can't do her at the time she asked - so given my pedicure would be longer then her manicure she rescheduled for a half hour later so we'd be done at same time. Well a day after that I received the same email and they offered me 1 pm but I wasn't able to - i asked if 2:30 or 3 was available and was told 1 pm I explained how my friend and I were going to meet there and her appt was changed to 2:30 so I wanted to know if that time or 3 would be available. I called my friend to let her know that I had just received the same email she received a day earlier (which seems odd that all appts would have been called if there was an issue with their on-line scheduler) while we were chatting she received an email canceling her appt and told to reschedule with friend for another time... she hadn't even been asked - and no where did I say if I can't get an appt we would both cancel -- and I hadn't heard back from my last email I sent. We decided right then that I would cancel my appt and we'd find another salon to go to. I had a very similar event happen several years ago my friend actually called to make reservations for both of us ... we arrived on the day and time and were told when we went in for our appt that they had too many walk-ins and we'd need to reschedule!! I hadn't been back until we decided to give them another chance. Well seems nothing has changed.

My husband needed a Deep Tissue, 80 min massage. The Salon/Spa is very inviting with a friendly atmosphere. The staff are friendly, happy professional and care for your needs. My husband and I initially requested a couples massage but this ended up being altered at the last minute - by the staff. It worked out ok. We also shared the quiet room and locker room- which was an awesome perk. One concern: the dry sauna wasn't working and the staff didn't check on this. We were looking forward to this following our massages. Another little thing: it was a cold day and the fireplace in the quiet room wasn't operating. I asked for it to be looked at but no one knew what to do. Also, at the end, staff mentioned they had been having issues with the sauna but it hasn't been taken care of yet nor were we alerted to this: a service one considers as part of the package. Our massage therapists also did a great job- my husband's concerns were greatly helped. In summery: all spa professionals did fantastic jobs! Very pleased with their work. Atmosphere of spa was excellent. Disappointed by: advertised spa services to be enjoyed were not all functioning.: ie, sauna, fireplace, choice of quiet music also wasn't an option. Compared to an upper level Spa in Minneapolis: Affinity is close but not quite as good. Extra work needed in the personal comfort level provided as mentioned in their advertising. Robes aren't high end, no mints etc. These little extras make for a top notch day spa salon. Will be go again: yes- but we will address issues mentioned, as they are important.

My appointment started 20 minutes late (that time was not made up on the back end); the "body scrub" was rushed and not at all thorough; the technician waited a full 10 minutes to come back to the room after the scrub/wrap, despite being in the room when I turned the shower off (it literally takes 30 seconds to hop out of a shower and onto a massage table, so I have no idea why she waited so long to return). The "massage" was bare minimum--it's basically just them applying lotion--and it fell far short of the 20 minutes that was advertised. The owner/manager was not there on the day of my appointment (I expressed my concerns to the women at the front desk; they said they couldn't help me but said they'd have the owner call me). When I later explained to the owner/manager that my appointment was cut way short and that I certainly wouldn't describe any of it as relaxing or pampering, she offered me a $20 credit (the service cost me $125). I let her know that I don't live in Fargo and have no use for a credit (nor would I want to return and spend (ie risk wasting) even more money); she became argumentative, claiming that my story didn't align with what the technician told her. I can understand why the technician lied about what happened--that's what people do when they're at risk of being reprimanded or possibly fired--but I don't understand the owner/manager's response. I'm a veteran and I chose Affinity because it's veteran owned, but it's way overpriced for what you actually get and they won't even try--in good faith--to make things right when they go wrong. Save yourself the trouble--and heed the advice of the other 1-star reviews; go to one of the many other spas in the area.

She was able to schedule me in an hour later. The facility was clean and she did a great job repairing my natural nails and keeping the length down to a normal size. I was a walk-in client not more than two or three days ago. I said that I had dip powder on that…read moreneeded to be removed but also requested a gel manicure. The front desk girl showed hesitation when I said I had dip powder on, but had no problem booking me in a few minutes after I arrived. My manicurist sat me down and made a comment when I told her I had dip powder on as to the effect that she should still have enough time for my appointment. That was unsettling because I thought, well, so she already seems rushed maybe? Benefit of the doubt I told myself. Surely she would take the time to do a good job regardless if she felt rushed. No. She didn't. That was the fastest manicure I have EVER had in my entire life. Not only was all of the dip powder not removed from my nail, she managed to create a sharp triangle shape as opposed to an almond shape. On top of that, usually gel manicures is a series of curing, re applying, etc etc. My nails were under the black light twice was all. I think she only put on two, maybe three layers of the color and gel. Let's get back to the previous dip powder. So I had a deep red color on. You can see some of that color under the color I have on now, which is called lilac, a light purple. Truly poor form. The shape. I WISH I took a photo prior to me going home and reshaping them to the best of my ability. But if you imagine what a triangle looks like, that was the tips of my nails. They were SHARP. I couldn't close my hand without getting poked and I thought to myself "I'm going to pierce someone." If she was concerned about time, she should've said no, she can't book me. I would've rather been sent away than gotten the worst manicure I have ever had. I didn't feel like a customer, I felt like I was her experiment to see how quick she could get done. I will not be returning. Quality over quantity.
